Skip to comments.Georgetown Students Go Broke to Buy Birth Control? Target Sells Pills for $9 Per Month

Nancy Pelosi held a congressional hearing on Monday with a single witness, Georgetown student Sandra Fluke, to testify about the need for Obamacare to mandate that religious institutions provide free contraception and abortifacients under their health insurance plans.
But Fluke's testimony was very misleading. Birth control pills can be purchased for as low as $9 per month at a pharmacy near Georgetown's campus. According to an employee at the pharmacy in Washington, D.C.'s Target store, the pharmacy sells birth control pills--the generic versions of Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Ortho-Cyclen--for $9 per month. "That's the price without insurance," the Target employee said. Nine dollars is less than the price of two beers at a Georgetown bar.

I believe that this is the whole purpose of government getting into the bedroom. The liberals want all the contraceptives and abortions paid for - then those who sell the products and services can jack the prices sky high.
Planned Parenthood could price an abortion anywhere they want to. Their income is now 1/3 federal funding, 1/3 abortion payments, and 1/3 elsewhere. If conservatives get control and take away the federal funding they will be able to set the price of an abortion much higher and still get the same money coming in and even higher.
PP says that abortions are only 3% of their services and yet 1/3 of their money intake. Something doesn’t add up.
I bet you can’t even by a “sex on the beach” cocktail for less than $9 in Georgetown. That place is expensive.
Rush’s monologue on Mz. Fluke was so devastating that were I a female law student at Georgetown, I would change schools. This idiot woman cluelessly whined before Pelousi’s committee that U.S. taxpayers should pay for her to have casual sex for three years without getting pregnant. She makes her generation look like sluts.
Anyone who has not listened to the testimony of this Fluke can hear it here:
Really, it is worth going through two or three times for the laughs as well as the horrors that come to your mind. This is a law student? A top graduate of some college somewhere? She sounds more like a cheerleader who had insufficient brains to get through 10th grade, to me.
She, and Georgetown, ought to be ashamed.
Until you mentioned “her parents” I did not even consider that aspect of the story. Sheesh - I sure am glad she is no relation to me!
You can’t expect a precious little snowflake lawyer to pay for her own anti baby pills!! That is sexist!
On a serious note, I wonder if she realized that she just confirmed a lot of peoples biases against lawyers and slutty women.
Perhaps Miss Fluke the aspiring legal eagle takes a pill per incident, or places one in each access aperture per incident? One can get into and pass through law school without learning one real life skill after all.
“Fluke made a complete fool of herself.”
Yes she did. Here legal career - if there ever is one one now - will be as a stump broke ornament at a left wing non profit or plaintiff’s firm. If she is lucky.
Da Fluke looks at the students’ faces and guess what she sees? No nose, eyes or mouth but ...’face affected by lack of contraceptive coverage’!?!? How is that shown on their faces? A pustule or something?
Uh, oh, they had to pay $9 for a month of pills? The horror, the horror! Anyone who can afford a $50,000 a year school, can also afford $108 per year for pills.
“Women like her have no choice but to go without contraception”, or without screwing around during their studies. THAT’s why they are in school in the first place. Why would the school pay for their activities after classes?
Getting laid is NOT in the school curriculum.
Just last week, a married female student told me that she had to stop using contraception because she and her husband just couldnt fit it into their budget anymore.” Cry me a river. Maybe the hubby could drink two beers less by month.
That’s the best part: “the gay woman wonders if she’ll be able to give her mother “desperately desired grand-babies.”
For that she would need a man, which seems she doesn’t like anyway.
What a crock. I bet Fluke is a lesbian as well, so I wonder why she needs contraceptives at all.
I'm trying to remain civil. Seriously, when I was her age it would have been mortifying to be thought of as "loose". Apparently it's a badge of honor now.

More likely they thought that Minitrue would stuff it down the memory hole.
Heck, she should just insist on a condom instead of the beer. You wanna play, you gotta pay.
Whose side are you on, anyway? The whole problem is that Catholic colleges refuse to traffic in birth control - and our paragon of virtue Miss Fluke is complaining that she cant afford (what turns out to cost $120 a year) to pay it herself.
Actually, the beef of the Catholic Church should extend beyond explicitly Catholic institutions to any requirement that individual Catholic employers traffic in birth control contrary to the dictates of conscience.
I see on DailyCaller that Rush has doubled down on his screed about Fluke yesterday.
Also saw a story just now, I think on TheBlaze, that Fluke is doubling down, too.
While reading that latter, I started to think, “Hmm... I wonder how she would react if I, and a few hundred other dirty old men, sent her a nice note simply asking for a date.”
If I had more time this morning, I would post that article from TheBlaze and make the suggestion. Unfortunately, I have no extra time this morning to make the post.
I started to think, Hmm... I wonder how she would react if I, and a few hundred other dirty old men, sent her a nice note simply asking for a date.
The internet is already buzzing with lewd proposals to Fluke, from “dirty old men” :)
Seriously, when I was her age it would have been mortifying to be thought of as “loose”.
Same here. So much has changed and at such break-neck speed.
I did not realize that Fluke has had some other proposals from dirty old men. Seems like the natural course of events. THanks for informing me of it. - I have been away from the net since I wrote that response to you.
