STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Staten Island's female elected officials from both sides of the aisle are demanding that conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh "apologize to all women" for calling a Georgetown University Law student a "slut" on his program.
Limbaugh caused a national firestorm when he used the word after Sandra Fluke testified before Congress about the need for contraceptive coverage.
"What does it say about the college coed ... who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex?" Limbaugh said on Wednesday. "It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex."
He went on to suggest that Ms. Fluke distribute sex tapes of herself.
"If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it," he said. "We want you post the videos online so we can all watch."
The remarks brought swift, bi-partisan condemnation in Washington, with President Barack Obama, who called Ms. Fluke personally, and GOP House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), slamming Limbaugh.
The Island's elected women -- state Sen. Diane Savino (D-North Shore/Brooklyn), Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-East Shore/Brooklyn) and City Councilwoman Debi Rose (D-North Shore) -- called Limbaugh's remarks "disgusting" and said they were made all the worse because March is Women's History Month.
"It does not matter if your hero is Eleanor Roosevelt or Margaret Thatcher," said Ms. Savino, "this is about treating women with dignity and respect. If Mr. Limbaugh cannot find it in his conscience to apologize, his fans and advertisers should demand that he does."

Glad I know what you’re really about now, SC - and glad I haven’t yet gone and bought 1 of those things, which I’ve considered because my cousin likes his so much.
Maybe Rush should look into American National beds! I’ve had one for over 10 years. IMHO they are a higher quality bed and for a lower price. I’m not associated with them, just a very satisfied customer.

Don’t worry about Rush-——he always says he has more wannabe advertisers than he has space for. I saw one of the leaving advertisers was the bed company-—you’d think they, of all bunches, would see a certain benefit. What if the Flukechick uses their brand of bed? Maybe they should give her one-——in a trailer?
This entire fiasco is nothing more than a successful venture by the left to keep truly important problems caused by obama and his administration out of the public eye.
In the last 3 days, gasoline has risen 12 cents per gallon. It might be nice if we had a competent, non-partisan journalist investigate why the Keystone Pipeline was vetoed by obama and in the process, why he essentially slapped our closest ally across the face. Perhaps an expose on the constitutionality of appointing czars could be a good topic of discussion. Or maybe a frank explanation of why enemy combatants are treated with greater respect and latitude than members of our own military.
Fluke is merely a distraction from serious issues that warrant discussion. But in our culture today, the media plays such an important role in what is and what is not discussed that the issues I’ve noted won’t see print.
One of the most telling comments I heard regarding the Fluke fluke, was made by none other than Sheila Jackson Lee whose resolution to this entire issue is reinstating the Fairness Doctrine. You can bet this will end up being the focus of the Fluke fiasco.

I’m not seeing the “fire” part of the storm——from here it looks more like “spit & shi# “ flying. The entertaining part is that most of the loons know better than mis-quote Rush and they bust a gut trying to make more than there is while trying to quote him. Watching them try to legitimize the canvas back chick is a hoot.

Rush insults ALL women?! According to WHO? YOU??? My wife for starters thinks what Rush said about Sandra Fluke is hilarious... She’s not insulted one bit.
It seems to me the only women who would be insulted by this are those who feel the definition of “SLUT” hits a little too close to home, if you know what I mean!
Well, there’s that and then what if she’s lying about her hole lifestyle? Wouldn’t be the first time demoratz have dug up a lying weasel with an invented story to either discredit someone or make a phony case-—in this case it goes clear back to Roe/Wade. The simple apparent fact that she seemingly can’t find a sugar daddy to cover her lifestyle pretty much makes a lie out of her story. As an old college boy myself I’m throwing the BS flag on her story.

My wife and I were planning to purchase our first Sleep Number bed and mattress sometime this year. But after learning of your recent and hasty decision to pull your sponsorship of Limbaugh’s program in the wake of the Sandra Fluke controversy, we will no longer be purchasing a bed and mattress from Sleep Number. While you are free to make any business decisions you choose, we oppose your decision to cower to left-wing pressure and “political correctness” by throwing Mr. Limbaugh under the bus. After all, he is the reason my wife and I and millions of other Americans ever learned of your company and products.”

I too! I’m a wife and I use BC (while married), not to be TMI. I was ROFLMAO the other day. In fact, it spurred me to see if there was a Rush thread, which I don’t bother with as a rule.

Absolutely! When you’re getting a lot of flack, you know you’re near the target...
But my brother doesn't have an in ground swimming pool. HE NEEDS that to stay healthy too. Swimming is good for a man's heart. I'm sure Sandra Fluke and other liberals will understand. All of us needs to be healthy - not just liberal women.
Sickoflibs, what are your health needs? If you're stressed - an extended trip might help - on Sandra Fluke's dime - of course. Or a pool. And a jacuzzi? Any other 'issues'?
