5 Soldiers Responsible in Afghan Quran Burning
Miami Herald ^ | 2 March 2012 | Nancy Youssef

A Pentagon investigation has found five soldiers responsible for burning copies of the Quran, the Muslim holy book, which set off a spate of anti-American protests and violence across Afghanistan, two U.S. military officials said Friday. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings hadn't been released publicly, didn't further identify the soldiers, and there was no indication that the investigation found that they violated military laws. However, the troops could face disciplinary action.

Amen! If they try, veterans should start a "Warrior Walk On Washington" and defend our brothers-in-arms on the White Hut lawn.

This misbegotten spawn of an anarchist atheist academic and an abusive African alcoholic must not sell our sons and daughters out to his Muslim masters.

The officials said that the soldiers had misunderstood orders when they placed Qurans in the fire pit to be destroyed. They had just been ordered to remove them from the library, not burn them, they said.

Pretty unlikely. Or there would be some indication of what they were told to do with them or told to put them. If a superior did not provide such direction, he would be responsible for not providing it, not the soldiers simply implementing his unclear orders.

Would not be surprised if these soldiers were unaware these were Korans. I certainly wouldn't be able to tell a Koran from any other book written in this foreign script. In all likelihood these guys were just taking out the trash as instructed and all of a sudden are accused of being responsible for an American foreign policy disaster.

“How can we as citizen’s stop this?”

I’m sure one of the military personnel on this site could accidently drop the e-mail address of some high-ranker in someone’s Freepmail inbox.
Just a thought.

Reminds me of the line, “There are no rules in a knife fight”, yet we keep trying to abide by these rules....

When we find out who they are I would like to spearhead a support group. I've never done anything like that, but I'm so enraged by this that I'm going to do some research into it. These soldiers need our support since they will probably get none from obama.

Unfortunately there’s been a continued effort to socialize the military over the years since tailhook. The latest BS is the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell repeal and the constant PC push and sensitivity training. We’re losing leaders and they are being replaced with program managers and I see it on a daily basis.

A leader would stand up for these soldiers, tell the Afghans to go to hell and rain hell on any crowd attempting to get to close in protest.

Program managers apologize, find a scapegoat and punish them to cover their own ass to make them look good.

Well said. If a guy doesn’t read Arabic how does he check what’s in the pile? Was there a list of reference numbers akin to a basic document register? This looks to me like a failure on several levels, but no one has the balls to stand up and say anything.

Arabic, since it’s Korans that are the subject. Obviously Dari and Pashtu would also be required.

As you say, they’d have to know Arabic. Many, though not all, Muslims consider translating the Koran or writing it in a script other than Arabic to be heretical.

In (very) partial defense of the Afghan response, Muslims view the Koran not just as a book, but as the Word of God, that it was uncreated and pre-existing for all time. Not particularly logical, but then religions, sort of by definition, aren’t often examplars of logic.

Thus “desecration” of the Koran is viewed much more severely by devout Muslims than similar treatment of the Bible is viewed by Christians or Jews. The view is much closer to “desecration” of a Host, which Catholics and Orthodox view as literally the Body of God. Accusations of the desecration of a Host was the usual trigger for pogroms during the middle ages and early modern times.

How many Afghans were responsible for the murder of NATO /and or American troops? When the Afghans responsible for these deaths are held accountable for their bloody actions then —and not until then can I agree to any punishment of those responsible for the burning of the bloody Koran. When our Govt. ceases to save the freaking wild men from their own bloody system of Shariah Law — Of Islam then we will find peace. But this Administration celebrates the death of America and Americans.

“I believe that is mutiny and should be treated as such.”

That action would not meet the legal requirements for a mutiny.

My fear is that once their names are made public their families will be in danger from muslim fanatics.

“I wonder what would happen, if all of the military walked off the job over this?”

....and visited the arms rooms/magazines/weapons depots before they left?

Oblama would vomit, p#ss, and sh#t his pants, the muslim faggot, that’s what. And then stick his ass in the air, facing mecca, praying to Lucifer.

I had a discussion with some one about the first homo round several years. They were all upset and threatened to resign, but then reality set it with the question “where would we go?” He and his buddies did leave but it was over time.

Yes, I think all religions consider the destruction of sacramental objects by non-believers one of the worst possible things.
That said, I’ve heard more than a few Afghan gov’t spokesmen and tribal elders say the insurgents aren’t real Muslims. Still, when they are said to be responsible for destruction of holy books or mosques, hell, even when they kill worhsippers, it doesn’t make much of a stir.
