WASHINGTON (AP) -- Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh apologized Saturday to a Georgetown University law student he had branded a "slut" and "prostitute" after fellow Republicans as well as Democrats criticized him and several advertisers left his program.

I agree with you. He proved himself to be of greater character than Letterman and Maher.
I love Rush, but he could have made the same case without the slanderous words.

I’ve listened to Rush Limbaugh on and off over the years and to me he provides an entertaining hour or two by discussing events and ideas, some conservative and some a comment on people or society. He is in the radio show business and some of his provocative comments are just to add spice to the show. This time there was enough blow back that advertisers were leaving him and stations were getting heat.
It is good business for him to apologize. Its long term effect is about the same as Obama’s apology to the Afghans, stupid but what seemed necessary to Rush or Obama.
He isn’t a Republican candidate or party leader, so the whole flap shouldn’t effect Republicans - it’s the Democrats who try to link Rush to the party.

Rush slandered a non public figure without any evidence of being a “Slut.” He is liable for defamation of character.
He should have stuck with her being a Marxist like Obama.
I agree with you. Rush’s apology is equal to the false apologies we get from the left. It’s just a means to an end. Now Rush can move on to what he does best which is expose the hypocrisy of the left and try to rally the troops on the right. Remember we must defeat Obama in the fall. That is our sole mission. No time for distractions like the slut at Georgetown.

I agree with you completely. I have listened to Rush since the late 80’s and found him lately to have become lazy. He goes off on these name calling tirades too often. I think he thinks he is being funny, but it really just boorish. I actually like the show better when he is on vacation and one of the Marks is on.
It just continues for another few days for Americans to see without a shadow of a doubt what RATS, Libs and media whores think is important.

Its one thing to be in business and have to temper your language to keep business flowing in, its another to expect something for nothing as in the phony drummed up contraceptive issue... my point is simply that Rush can’t always say what he and we would like to be said.

One good thing my Father (and my older Brother) taught me was to stand up for what you think is right.
Rush did not do that. He did so for a couple of days then when the pressure got to him he caved.

Actually Rush had no proof the woman is a slut or prostitute. It's ok to apologize.
Just out of curiosity. Did anyone on talk radio mention the Sheriff Joe press conference? Never really heard it discussed but I was mostly away from a radio that day.
apologizing for saying something untoward isn’t cowardly, it’s mature. to suggest that Rush doesn’t stand up for what he believes is right is folly
