Actually, they are remobilizing. A Twitter account, “Stop Rush,” which has been dormant since late 2010, woke up on Wednesday, when Mr. Limbaugh first called the student, Sandra Fluke, a “slut.”
On Friday, as complaints from “Stop Rush” and others about Mr. Limbaugh’s comments mounted, a handful of companies said that they had halted their advertising on “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” at least temporarily.
One of the companies, Quicken Loans, wrote on Twitter, “Due to continued inflammatory comments — along with valuable feedback from clients and team members — QL has suspended ads on Rush Limbaugh program.”
Two mattress companies, Sleep Train and Sleep Number, made similar statements on Friday. A representative of Sleep Number wrote on Twitter, “Recent comments by Rush Limbaugh do not align w/ our values, so we made decision to immediately suspend all advertising on that program.”
Mr. Limbaugh’s comments on Wednesday about Ms. Fluke, who had testified in support of the Obama administration’s requirement that health insurance plans cover contraceptives for women, were immediately noticed by Media Matters, a liberal media monitoring group that has been raising red flags about Mr. Limbaugh’s language for years.

This is a cosmic joke. Only in libs little world is this playing in their favor.
Blumenthal provided Brock the kind of media play only good liberals get. In the respected hipster pages of Esquire, back when print media still mattered, not only did Blumethal’s liberal writer and editor friends provide Brock a platform to provide a stream of convenient lies about the VRWC, he granted the then early 30-something a venue for a “coming out party” in a way R. Emmett Tyrell of the American Spectator would never have imagined or allowed.
And Brock took advantage with gusto. Even though everyone in DC knew Brock was gay, the Esquire piece was as much a political outing as it was a lavish “coming out” extravaganza. Brock was not a household name and certainly didn’t warrant the photo placement and sizing that he was granted. But when an otherwise boring political subject is happy to take off his clothes and tie himself to a tree in the name of fighting the VRWC–well, all bets are off.
As I recall, with the piece hitting newsstands, the talk of Washington was not the tell-all, but the photo. What narcissism! What delusions of grandeur! What showmanship. Sidney Blumenthal had helped birth a star. And the Esquire photo helped to define Brock as both martyr and hero.
Fifteen years later, Blumenthal’s crafty strategy, fueled by Brock’s apparent paranoia, would become the basis and mindset for Brock’s livelihood. Now the anti-VRWC is a thriving multimillion dollar business, conveniently wrapped as a non-political 501(c)3, complete with the benefits of a tax write-off.
I have to say that I’m worried that this may be the beginning of the end for Rush. I hope to God that I am dead wrong, but I find myself wondering from time to time...is there anything worth fighting for anymore? I live in a country full to the brim of idiots and coniving evil bastards.
If I was Rush I might just take my wife and my money elsewhere and leave them all to each other, screw ‘em so to speak. But that’s just me, and I can be moody from time to time. ANyhow, dunno why I’m even writing this crap, let’s hope I’m so far off I’m in another universe tonight...

I think that Rush was probably feeling some heat from Clear Channel. Also, perhaps the other advertisers probably wanted something “out there” on the record, so if there is some sort of legal action by Fluke and the Media Matters/Democratic campaign organizers that they have some way to fight back.
In the end, I think this is more about money. They won’t shut him up forever and people tend to forget these things with the next news cycle. If anything, this should garner him even more listeners, so I don’t think he will lose much here. At this moment, the advertisers that left are under attack for doing so. The other ones are holding pat to see what other fallout comes their way.
The left will suck as much as they can from this and then move on to the next kabuki theater moment IMHO.
Apologizing won’t make it go away. They will just say he admitted it and go after even harder.
Rush is not going anywhere. We have to continue to fight. If we don’t fight, the left will bring back the fairness doctrine and guess what..Conservative voices will be silenced. The left is able to get away with everything because they have the media, we don’t..we have to find other ways to fight because if we don’t, this country is finished

That’s the problem. Conservatives do not fight. Did any conservative entities organize a massive email/phone campaign to deluge these sponsors in favor of Rush and his statements to counter the left’s attack? No. Are there any such conservative outfits that mobilize millions (or even thousands) of conservatives to fight? Hmmmmmmm... none come to mind.
The left has an organized army of fanatics. The right has a grumpy rabble, at most.
You are correct. If conservatives do not organize and fight the left using the left’s exceptionally successful tactics, all is lost.
When Letterman made that disgusting, vile, demeaning “joke” about Sarah Palin’s daughter, we did organize an effort to try to get him taken off the air, some sponsors did drop him, but then he made his lame ass “I was talking about the other daughter” BS apology and that was that. Sometimes email/phone campaigning can work, but the left has something we don’t have, and that is the media. Bill Whittle said something very interesting in his tribute to Andrew Breitbart, the fight is not against the left, not against Obama, its against the media..because if the media were not biased, the liberals wouldn’t control everything..Obama would not be President if the media did their damn job..this is what we have to fix, the damn media, because even though many say they dont believe a word that comes out of the media’s mouth they do, they say they dont but they do
