ProFlowers Latest Rush Limbaugh Sponsor To Pull Its Business
A post on ProFlowers' Facebook page announcing it has suspended advertising on Rush Limbaugh's radio show. (Facebook)
By Michael A. Memoli March 4, 2012 The number of advertisers who have at least temporarily cut ties with Rush Limbaugh grew to seven on Sunday in the aftermath of the conservative radio host's self-described "insulting word choices" about a female law student.
ProFlowers, an online florist, is one of the latest companies to announce it would halt advertising on Limbaugh's show.
"Mr. Limbaughs recent comments went beyond political discourse to a personal attack and do not reflect our values as a company. As such, ProFlowers has suspended advertising on the Rush Limbaugh radio program," it announced on its Facebook page.
ProFlowers, like other Limbaugh sponsors, faced pressure from women's groups to end its relationship with his show after Limbaugh branded Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, 30, a "slut" and "prostitute," equating Flukes advocacy of expanded coverage for contraceptives with her wanting to be "paid to have sex." Fluke has been a vocal supporter of a new Obama administration rule that mandates greatly expanded access to contraceptives through health insurance plans.
One activist group, UltraViolet, said 91,000 people had signed its petition urging ProFlowers to suspend advertising on Limbaugh's show.
"UltraViolet members are glad that ProFlowers decided to suspend their advertising from the Rush Limbaugh show.
Our members hope that ProFlowers will do the right thing and not only suspend their advertising but pull it permanently," it said in a statement.

Can I ask a serious question, which would enrage liberals, but I ask in all seriousness?
Why is the liberal view that it is good that companies are pulling out of sponsoring Rush Limbaugh, due to concerns about the content of his programming, but the liberals were enraged when Lowe’s pulled advertising from the reality show “All American Muslim”, due to concerns about the content of that programming???
This question probably would make liberals angry, but I really want to know the answer. If we’re saying that advertisers should pull out from Rush over this controversy, and not wanting to be associated with Rush and his show, why did the liberals protest so much when Lowe’s did the same thing, pulling out of All American Muslim???
What is the liberal view? Is it appropriate to pull advertising from programs someone objects to? What are he criteria for deciding?
Bow to pressure from the anarchists to abandon the capitalist Limbaugh ... I wonder how that business plan will work for them?
Bil Maher is proof that their concern is 100% fake.
Hopefully Ultra Violet sends a lot of flowers. We use them but not as of yesterday
Pro Flowers et al is betting they get more business from the left than the right.
wonder just who this Ultra Violet is?? tried googling and didnt come up with much
A recent comment on a future “fiat currency” called google dollars set me thinking. I have always said two disparate cultures can not occupy the same space but maybe we can. We could have “red dollars” for the Marxists and Blue dollars for Patriots and companies and others could choose who they wanted to patronize or to have patronize them. over time I am sure the libtards would starve and disappear but in the meanwhile we could ignore them...
Very simple. Liberals believe in double standards. Which is ironic since they claim loudly to oppose such things but their actions say otherwise.
My e-mail to ProFlowers:
I became a regular ProFlowers customer when I first heard your ads on Rush Limbaughs show a few years ago. I, like the other 20 million weekly listeners to his show value what he says, and what he recommends. Im not sure how much business Rush has brought your company, but Ill guess its substantial. This being the case, I was beyond disappointed that ProFlowers decided to be politically correct and drop their sponsorship to Rushs show simply because Rush expressed a valid opinion about this fraud Ms. Fluke.
Just as you have made a decision that will impact Mr. Limbaugh, many more of us are also making a decision that will indeed impact you. I purchased flowers from you this past Valentines Day; this will indeed be my LAST purchase from ProFlowers. Im certainly not alone in my disgust for the gutless, politically motivated decision you have made to drop sponsorship of Rushs show. You might want to take a look around the blogosphere this day; outrage at your decision will have the opposite effect you had intended. Do you really think that dropping sponsorship to Rushs show in such a politically motivated way will not have financial consequences for your business.
Im ashamed to say that was a ProFlowers customer!
ProFlowers Response (Auto-Generated to be sure):
Thank you for contacting ProFlowers. We appreciate your email and thank you for openly expressing your concerns regarding the current situation.
At ProFlowers, our mission is to delight our customers with fresh and long lasting flowers, and that is our singular focus each and every day. We do not base our advertising decisions to align with any particular political view or opinion as our employees and customers are as diverse as the USA. Mr. Limbaughs recent comments went beyond political discourse to a personal attack and do not reflect our values as a company. As such, ProFlowers has suspended advertising on The Rush Limbaugh radio program.

Yet mike mallory remains on the air.
the business plan will not pay off for them, long term.
This storm will blow over, as all storms do.
Rush still has high ratings, and I’ve heard that his demographic is a desirable one. One key component of Rush’s audience are people who work for a living, many of whom own their own businesses, and they have disposable income.
I think that concerns over liberal outrage will take a back seat soon to concerns about reaching an audience with money to spend, who are interested in the products they have to sell.
It reminds me of Churchill on appeasement and crocodiles.
I noticed they suspended their advertising but did not cancel... betting they are waiting for it to cool down and then will try and get back on...

Pro-Flower pulling ads from Rush Limbaugh means that I will NEVER use this company again. Rush was standing up for morality in condemning a woman who is trying to get the taxpayers to fund her immoral lifestyle.
We are amazed that Pro-Flowers would so easily give into a campaign of hate against Rush, who is a true American and supporter of all that is good in America. He was merely pointing out how absurd it is that this woman would speak before a congressional hearing to expose her lose and immoral life style.
Apparently the decision makers of your company agree with the left wing that taxpayers should fund unlimited sex by unmarried people.
She has a right to choose that life style, but it is not our responsibility to fund it. Goodbye Pro-flowers. You can forget about getting my business forever.
Did LifeLock pull. I use them, but will drop if they did.
Some one should be smart enough to know he does a great job for his advertisers.
Now that he apologized they’re coming with an all out assault. I guess he forgot that Trent Lott apologized and ended up gone anyway. If he’d have ignored it he’d probably still be in the senate.
Now they’ll find something Rush says to be insulting every day. And they won’t stop. They smell blood in the water. And when they can get Limbaugh, they’re not far from the finish line.
Yep, and there are more of us than there are of them.
Its time to “Buy Right”, and only support those companies that share our values.
I think this may be them
Haven’t heard that they withdrew.
The vast majority of the parasites vote democrat so good luck for these companies getting more business from the left wing voters.
An alleged comedian Chris Titus was on a local radio talk show Friday, ripping Rush. Then I found this....http://dailycaller.com/2011/06/07/comic-chris-titus-hints-at-assassinating-palin-if-she-gets-elected-president/
Yes, the outrage of the left is fake.
I’m going to keep my eyes on any other companies who drop Rush - I need new windows!
“Did LifeLock pull. I use them, but will drop if they did.”
No. LifeLock and the Keystone both use large taxpayer funded condoms to prevent flow these days.
I wouldn’t take them back if I where Rush.
Good start- Can FReepers start a counter boycott?
“What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;”
And, that which we call a liberal activist, concerned with the moral degradation of the Catholic Church and every other religious order, THAT which would demand subsidizing immorality, by any other name,(liberal or progressive or feminist) would stink to high heaven.
Put THAT in your vase and sell it, Pro Flowers.
Yet another example of Selective Liberal Indignation.
I’m sure ProFlowers will get a lot of business from all those women who can’t afford to buy $9/month birth control but CAN afford to buy ProFlowers...
I was getting really tired of the same old commercials anyway. There will be other advertisers who fill the gap.
I havn’t heard anything about them, but carbonite dropped their sponsorship....
Not surprising since the mouth breather who founded the company is a bigtime moveon supporter
LOL.....WELL PLAYED !
Im not a liberal but I have your answer. In the political wars, boycotts are a weapon. In what war does someone turn a weapon on themselves.
If you want to counter attack, you have to start a petition to tell ProFlowers you will not buy from them because they are mixing politics with advertising.Have you called ProFlowers to tell them you will not buy from them because they pulled their ads?
Get off your lazy butt or take a beating by those that are outgunning you
PF suspended their account with Limabaugh
I canceled my account with PF
ProFlowers is also Sheri’s Berries and Cherry Moon Farms.
I’ve already unsubscribed from their mailer.
I suggest we start calling beginning first thing in the morning.

I got now! How could I have forgotten my political correct lessons in the reeducation camp, also know as the lame stream media!
Talk bad about Conservatives is GOOD!
Talk bad about Liberals is BAD!
Talk good about conservative is BAD BAD!
Talk good about Liberal is GOOD GOOD GOOD!!!
Talk bad about Obama is bad bad bad and you are a racist!!
Talk good about Obama is enlightened speech.
Talk about the size of Michelle's butt is not only racist but you are almost blind not to have notices her elegant cloths and petite frame and absolute beauty and grace. Not to mention her total familiarity with protocol when visiting royalty and heads of state. Never a faux pas or even minor error. Don't you understand when she put her hand on the shoulder of the Queen of England it was by the Queens request and was humbly received by the queen. The queen knew her subordinate place as compared to Michelle.
I think I will now clean my keyboard with alcohol.
Pro-Flowers lost my two May birthday flower orders as well as the one for Mother’s Day.
I will tell each of my local florists who has ProFlowers that I will not buy from them. I have several great plants/trees/florists near me where I can get anything I want at competitive prices.
They said they don’t subscribe to any political point of view yet they cancelled ads because of being pushed by the political left. This has to be the dumbest response I’ve ever heard a company issue.
And conservatives don't do the same? Come on, we do. We rail against and start campaigns against businesses that take stands against that which we believe.
Sorry, but whining about the left doing what the right does is just the same kind of double standard you are railing against here.
I too just sent them an email stating that they won’t have my business any more.
We need to show these cowards that the left is not the only ones that can play the boycott game.
All this fuss because Rush used a naughty word, and then apologized for doing it.
These advertisers are cutting off their noses to spite their face. Let them go.
I don’t get it. There are lots of places to order flowers. Why call ProFlowers? Rush’s endorsement, of course. No more endorsement...they may as well turn out the lights.
Companies like Pro Flowers will be back in 2 months.
Its good (and free) publicity to be announced you are “pulling your ads”
Who’s the alternative to Carbonite?
