TRENDING: Gingrich: Romney can't 'close the deal'(Newt:'Cantor= quintessentially insider')
Townhall ^ | 3-5-12 | Liptak

Posted on 03/05/2012 1:19:24 PM PST by VinL

Presidential contender Newt Gingrich took harsh aim at rival Mitt Romney Monday, suggesting the former Massachusetts governor couldn't rally Republican support because he was being dishonest with voters. "He can't close the deal. And he can't close the deal in part because people inherently don't trust what he's saying and think that he isn't always very candid with them. And sometimes frankly isn't straight," Gingrich said on CNN's "Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien." The former House speaker said House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who endorsed Romney Sunday, was another Washington insider falling in line for the GOP establishment pick.

"We would all like to have endorsements. But the fact is Romney is the Washington establishment candidate," Gingrich said. "It's true. If you look at where his money comes from, where most of the lobbyists lined up. So I think he goes around the country and he's legitimately collected most of the insiders. I like Eric Cantor, but he is sort of quintessentially part of the same group."

Romney's success thus far has been bolstered by his robust fundraising, Gingrich said, but he predicted an eventual drying up of campaign cash.

"I think the challenge is that Gov. Romney has had a huge amount of money, most from Wall Street and a great deal from companies that were bailed out by the taxpayer," Gingrich said. "But he has used that money very effectively first against me and then against Santorum. But he can't close the deal."

He continued, "It's not at all clear to me right now that Romney can get above a certain ceiling," he said. "And the question is whether or not ultimately his money starts to run out. It's very clear in any kind of relatively evenly-financed campaign Romney would not win."

If and when, Rick comes around to supporting Newt-- this is where they should be. Attacking the Gop-e, specifically; naming names; calling out "the fix"; setting up the fight between the ABR's and the majority grassroots.

It's a fight for the Founder's America- and the GOP-e is on the wrong side. If the sides are clearly drawn, we can win.

Throw down the gauntlet,Newt. --

Cantor followed Newt on Meet the Press this weekend. Cantor looked like a stuttering incompetent when juxtaposed to Newt. Guys like him make me sick.

Every time another GOP establoishment HACK comes out for Romney the libtard media parade him all over saying “seee?????????? another one for Romney”

But no one everr interviews any of Gingrich’s supporters.

All I need to know about Romnay is that THE MEDIA WANT HIM TO RUN against Obama- and so I DONT WANT HIM

Geez, Newt’s on a tear! He was on like 5 shows yesterday and it looks like he’s still doing more today. This site is perpetually updating candidate videos as fast as they come on, and it’s now up to 6 Newt TV interviews, 2 Rick, 2 Ron and 0 Mitt since yesterday.

http://www.electad.com

Looks like Newt is calculating that he can communicate to all the Super Tuesday states most efficiently by getting on national TV. I’m just kind of shocked he was able to book all these appearances. Not to mention all the caffeine he must be hopped up on since he seems as energetic as ever.

Once again Romney is hiding under his covers and afraid to compete in an environment he doesn’t control. I can just see his “Vote for me because I’m not Obama!” campaign falling apart in the fall. Just wait until the media sets out to define him and he hides under the covers until it’s too late to define himself.

Millions of Americans are too dumb to see through Romney. Those are the same nitwits that voted for King Obama and bought the lie hope and change. To what, they had no idea but the hope and change without details were the most stupid thing they have voted for.

Zip it, Cain. You accused me of spamming for Romney too when I was praising Newt, despite having no evidence I ever did such a thing. Stop accusing Newt supporters of supporting a guy we pretty much agree we can’t stand, Romney.
