What is now clear is that there are no nuanced choices in the Rush vs. Fluke fiasco the Left has created. What is now playing out has nothing to do with civil discourse and everything to do with politics and the left's 30 or more years long war to destroy conservatives and thereby conservatism in America.
It's also critical to understand that what we are seeing is the left's use of social media to make objections to all things Republican and especially Conservative appear to be far more substantial than they actually are. We can not afford to let them play that game, while we sit idly and watch. You'll find what you need beginning on page 3 of this AmSpec item: Rally for Rush. Do not kid yourself that this is about Rush Limbaugh. The people, ideology and political party that is targeting him today will eventually do much worse to you if they ever succeed in breaking down and through our various and various kinds of leaders.
We lost one forever due to natural causes recently in the person of Andrew Breitbart. We can not simply sit on our hands as they seek to silence another one through a vicious and dishonest smear campaign. They would never go after a Bill Maher, or Jon Stewart, or anyone else mostly in agreement with them. It is imperative that we all stand up to do our part in this instance. That part now is to rally for Rush.

Look folks, I don’t think he should have apologized either, but you’re allowing the Left to divide and conquer, when you turn on Rush because one thing you don’t like.
He’s done literally tens of thousands of things over the years I do like. Nobody’s perfect.

I don’t think Rush should have apologized. When I said so yesterday, I was subject to more abuse than I have ever personally seen on FreeRepublic in my 17 years here.
There is a lot of Kool-Aid being sucked down on FreeRepublic, I am sorry to say. What Rush said about the slut is true: she is a slut. Would any of you want your daughter to be famous for being Susan Fluke? He spoke truth (thanks Rush), then ran away when the media and the Demonrats predictably went crazy (you let us down Rush, you betrayed us). And he did it for a few dollars.
Does anyone believe that the frigging Left will give up destroying us because Rush apologized? Today they doubled down. And they are winning. Obama won the election yesterday, when Rush caved. Sorry, but game over. America over. Flame away, all you willfully blind idiots. We lost. We are all socialists now. Obama wins in 2012, because Rush sucked the big you-know-what.
PS: I would love to be wrong, but I’m not. The Tea Party is dead, the Republicans are corrupt, and the socialists have achieved 50% + 1 of the electorate sucking off the tit. I listened to Rush today. No one is better at weasel words than old Rushbo.
I wish you were right, but here is the new reality. The advertisers have made a decision based on facts: they will NOT suffer much pain from dumping Rush, and by extension, dumping Rush’s audience. We are now the minority.
Americans (from my former country, the country of my birth) have decided that punishing everyone not on welfare is good. The rich are the enemy, and taxpayers should pay a lot more, particularly if they are the wrong race. This was by Democrat design, and the effort is now successful.

My point was I was still (and still) defending Rush when Rush stopped defending himself with an apology that should never have been given in the first place.
Why do you assume I left Rush? I never said that. I said I was still standing for Rush, when Rush went and sat down. And I believe I am accurate on that description.
This is a tactical mistake Rush made. I’m not going to leave because Rush makes a mistake. I’ve been listening since 1990.
Don’t think that just because people think Rush made a mistake, that that means they’re are leaving him.
As far as the sponsors that left Rush, however, as I have said all week, they are dead to me. Don’t care if they come back or not. DEAD TO ME.

I have been involved in two threads on the Rush apology and I got beat up pretty bad in the first one. The no-apologies crowd is pretty small here on FR.
That’s was a bad joke on my part. My main thing is that Rush did no one any favors when he apologized. How many times has he lately said “You never win anything playing defense”? That looks like what he’s doing now. This whole thing is one big un-forced error.

Okay, it was an error on my part, but this sounded to me that you were fed up with him. In an atmosphere where others were saying they were, I responded as I did.
I believe what I said needed to be said, but I'm sorry you were mistakenly caught in the cross-fire.
