Texas high school apologizes after USA chant is deemed racist

A local school district is apologizing after an apparent incident of racism at a boys high school basketball game this past weekend.

When the final whistle blew Saturday, Alamo Heights celebrated a convincing victory over San Antonio Edison.

Alamo Heights Head Coach Andrew Brewer said he was proud of his team.

“Tremendously proud,” Brewer said. “Tremendously. It’s the best group of kids.”

But it was just after the trophy presentation when the coach was not proud of the chant coming from Alamo Heights fans.

“USA, USA, USA,” they chanted.

San Antonio Independent School District officials took the chant as a racial insult to a school with all minority players from a school with mostly white ones.

On the KSAT 12 Defenders Facebook page, Santos Villarreal’s post reads “this has to stop.”

RE :”I think most latinos including even younger Cubans whose parents and grandparents woulda never thought like that have been brainwashed in the west and here of course into this mindset that the dominant higher percentage caucasian imperialists types like most Americans and richer latinos in their view are the fault of basically everything

Class-race warfare is very appealing to those down on their luck who are targeted for the message like minorities. Dems know this.

But there is a ugly reality that Republicans don't want to face. If the last Republican POTUS left office with a booming economy and the country at peace there would have been a much, much, bigger chance that many Hispanics would split from Dems and socialism and vote Republican. That would be REAL the way to sell economic conservatism or economic libertarianism, by example NOT words.,

But leaving office with the economy in complete shambles, and I am not saying it is all GWB fault, made sure that minorities would see socialism as appealing for a long time.

If the kids wear an American flag emblem on their clothes or wave a flag at the game, is that also a racist based hate infraction? Is an apology in order?

Some schools don't allows US flag emblems or images on their clothing.

That sounds like the way a lot of people in SE Louisiana think and they all are not ‘people of color’ by a long shot.

Which is exactly why the libs wrecked it. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were a Democrat operation from Day One.

Somewhat different than those who came from Italy and Ireland in the late 1800s and early 1900s. But not all that much different.

The “mionrity” label isn’t what it used to be...now it’s an emblem of pride, more freebies, less working for things, a crutch. Where’s the pride in earning one’s way? It’s not being taught to our kids, generally speaking, and specifically speaking they are seeing just what earning one’s way is all about...paying for those who don’t.

I wonder sometimes why I’m raising my kids the way I am, the way my parents raised us, when it’s becoming increasingly clear that far less (percentage wise) are doing the same and we and my kids are going to be footing the bill. I don’t know the answer/solution. All I know is that victim status, freeloader mindset, is not acceptable. Self respect matters.

Well maybe GWB with a Republican congress should have made it their job to keep the economy from being ‘wrecked; so that this country would not be f..ed now.

BTW: if you truly believe that Dems on their own wrecked the economy with a Republican POTUS and a Republican congress ~2003 to 2006 then there is little argument for electing Republicans again is there? Sounds like they just do nothing but get the blame.

I have argued exactly that point on several occasions. The Republican majority tried to reform Fannie & Freddie, but the 2005 Financial Reform bill was torpedoed by a Democrat filibuster in the Senate.

That does not mean the GOPers shouldn't have continued to demand action, making an issue of the mess. Sadly, they did not.

Are you saying the Republican House actually passed a bill and sent it to the Senate? That is inconsistent with the story that Barney Frank blocked reform since he was NOT in the Senate.

GWB did successfully manage to get poor minorities with bad credit home loans they couldn't afford and took credit for it every chance he could. Maybe that is why he got blamed for it.

Looks like GWB got this reform through to get Fannie and Freddie to make all those bad loans to poor Hispanics with bad credit, here he is actually taking credit for it.

GWB 2002 Speech :
More and more people own their homes in America today. Yet we have a problem here in America because fewer than half the Hispanics and African Americans own their own homes. That’s a home ownership gap; a gap that we got to work together to close. And by the end of this decade we’ll increase the number of minority homeowners (future Obama voters ) by 5.5 million families.
“One of the major obstacles to minority home-ownership is financing. Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac (who I will bail out in 2008) have committed to provide more money for lenders, they committed to meet the shortage of capital available for minority home-buyers. Freddie Mac just began 25 initiatives around the country to dismantle barriers (like income requirements) and create better opportunities for home-ownership. One of the programs is designed to help families with bad credit histories to qualify for home ownership loans (by faking their income) . You don’t have to have a lousy home for first time home-buyers. You put your mind to it the first time low income home buyer can have just as nice a house as anyone else (till those adjustable rates go up).

I am sick and tired of people apologizing for America's success and greatness. Americans are not even allowed to be proud of our country....

The thing that bugs me is that this idiocy extends globally.

Every two-bit hellhole in the world is allowed to put THEIR country's interest first--particularly over the interests of our precious country.

America is NEVER allowed to protect its own interests AND the interests of American citizens.

CASE IN POINT Americans are paying plenty at the pump b/c of these two-bit Mideast hellholes.....that bunch of pariahs. Americans are being extorted, forced to pour trillions into these mudholes.......our "reward" is to pay at the pump.

Mideast (and Third World) jerks have a total lack of self-esteem and need trillions of US tax dollars to "feel good about themselves."

The Texas incident shows only Americans are precluded from feeling good their country.

================================================

JUST WONDERING What did the Gov of Texas do---if anything---about this incident?

That sounds like the way a lot of people in SE Louisiana think and they all are not ‘people of color’ by a long shot.

Nice stab at racial relativity wombat but it melts under the glare of statistics which are available to anyone.

Whites in Louisiana voted 85% for McCain/Palin in 2008.

Whites in Louisiana voted 78% for Bush in 2004

there did used to be a strong white Dixiecrat party in Louisiana once upon a time...a time long gone...I'm sure you loved Reconstruction but alas those who actually endured it were not so enamored

you want whites who vote for handouts go north...selectively north...plenty there but i doubt except amongst the birkie youth vote you will find much anti-white tenor in their Democrat vote like you do amongst minorities I love the way how when anyone here makes a statistic supported remark about non whites that someone invariably chirps in with a qualifying anecdotal declaration wholly unsupported by the facts as a balance as though the glaring truth about how minorities vote and why they vote as they do should simply not be publicly recognized.

I never ever see such qualifying about how "rednecks" in VA vote or Westchester County upper middle class Jewish whites etc...never...no one chimes in with exceptions qualifying

I have never been in a place where as many people have problems with behavior boundaries and where the culture supports a lack of acceptance of responsibility. It's called the ‘it's all right’ culture. Bad behaviors are accepted if one makes some superficial ‘I'm sorry’ response. Demands that individuals actually accept responsibility fir bad actions produces consternation and angry responses that ‘you are being mean’. This area culturally displays the effects of over two centuries of failed or maladaptive paternalistic schemes.

Let me describe in practical terms what this means. If one lives in SE La one pays about $1000 more a year in auto insurance. Why? Even after cracking down on the ‘no tags on cars’ phenomenon a large number of drivers are uninsured. There also is an excess of personal injury lawsuits especially in Orleans Parish generated by the excess number of personal injury lawyers. These people listen to police scanners and have ways of getting information from the PD on who was involved in any accident. They then convince illiterates that they can get them a big court settlement and launch nuisance suits for minor accidents. There is also a very high incidence of drunk or drugged driving. A parish sheriff's deputy estimated that 20% of drivers were impaired at any time of the day. The TP today continues to cover the case of a River Parishes man who has racked up 4 DUI’s in 6 months. This is by no means an unusual event.

Other practical effects I have personally had to deal with include a contractor leaving in the middle of a job because his estranged meth
addicted wife had snatched his daughter and wanted cash in exchange
for returning her.

You are correct this is a heavily red state. That is because the very large underclass both black and white are so dysfunctional and disorganized that the donkey party and the poverty pimping ‘civil rights’ establishment can't get the dependent lass to turn out in sufficient numbers. So while the state is 40.+ per cent black the donkey party leadership is mostly white and has ties to local business interests and what organized labor there is here and has little interest in stirring up the underclass.

There are some indications change is at work in the political culture. Katrina population loss in NOLA and a relentless US Attorney have sent many prominent politicians to prison and more are going and the black political mafia in NOLA has been broken.

The problem is the persistence of the culture of low or no expectations and its concomitant pathology of familial dysfunction and disorganization. This is a really interesting area but much of the population is locked into a culture that sees failure as the norm.

RE :”Yet people here at FR still claim Bush tried to curtail sub prime loans.....he didn’t.

That is why I keep that list handy. That one speech he gave in 2002 that I posted text to here in 2009 pretty much kills the claim that GWB was a victim of CRA which he fought against, instead he was promoting it and bragging about doing it.

It seems that many insist on living in their own reality bubble

Dems just believe that the whole thing was deregulation by Republicans to allow banks to make profits, with Dems ‘fighting against it’

Republicans just believe that the whole thing was regulation by Dems to get poor people into homes they couldn't afford, with Republicans ‘fighting against it’

But reality is we got lots of bipartison cluster... s under GWB, and how appreciated for it was he in 2008 leaving office?.
