Skip to comments.Limbaugh deserters: 3 dozen national/local advertisers have pulled out of Rush
Posted on 03/07/2012 8:34:46 AM PST by raccoonradio
Rush Limbaugh has now lost a total of 36 advertisers, according to multiple sources, including national advertisers JC Penney and Capitol One. They join such high-profile companies as AOL, Sears, Carbonite, Geico, Netflix, Quicken Loan and ProFlowers. Watchdog group Media Matters is maintaining a list that says Limbaugh has lost 36 advertisers as of Tuesday, which was confirmed by USA Today.
The latter source points out, Some companies buy time directly on Limbaugh's show. Others instruct their ad agencies to buy what's known in the industry as run of schedule time, meaning their commercials run at different times of the day for several days, so they could appear on a certain program one day and not the next.
Here is the list of Limbaugh deserters, including sponsors, national and local advertisers, per Politico.com. It cites official announcements, Facebook and Twitter statements: AccuQuote Life Insurance, Allstate Insurance, AOL, Bare Escentuals, Bethesda Sedation Dentistry, Bonobos, Capital One, Carbonite, Cascades Dental, Citrix, Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Constant Contact, Cunningham Security, Girl Scouts, Goodwill Industries, Hadeed Carpet, JCPenney, Legal Zoom, Matrix Direct, Netflix, Philadelphia Orchestra, PolyCom, ProFlowers, Quicken Loans, Reputation Rhino, RSVP Discount Beverage, Sears, Sensa, Service Magic, Sleep Train, Sleep Number, St. Vincents Medical Center, Tax Resolution, Thompson Creek Windows and Vitacost.
Meanwhile, online dating website SeekingArrangement.com, whose mission is to match subscribers with wealthy Sugar Daddies, said Tuesday it intends to gobble up available ad time during Limbaughs program.
Now that's some delicious irony right there I don't care who ya are.
Maybe next time Rush will think twice before he takes the bait.
Democrats and RomneyBOTs attack RUSH.
Surprise? I think not.
You took the bait...
Many of those companies don’t advertise on the program... And Rush can reject any advertising, just like he did with GM
It may be necessary for Rush to go to an online type subscription broadcast. I seriously doubt that he would have any problem getting subscribers.
I didn’t see where Rush had accepted their advertising. I would be surprised if he does.
Here is an earlier thread with contact info for many of the advertisers who bailed on Rush....This has reached a level way beyond reasonable. The Left must have a very co-ordinated effort putting pressure on the advertisers.
I remember some years back when Snapple was a sponsor. They dropped him for some perceived infraction and we stopped buying Snapple. I didn’t like the stuff and had my wife buy a few bottles each week to support Rush. It came from nowhere and sold like hot cakes thanks to Rush!
The Florida Orange Growers Ass’n. did the same thing and we stopped buying that as well.
My wife was a Girl Scout leader and my daughter was a Girl Scout, but I've been listening since 1988 never heard them advertise on his show. Ditto Sears. As for Allstate and Capital One, I wouldn't use their services if they paid me. For the rest -- I've either never heard of them or wouldn't use them.
At least "Two if by Tea" hasn't dropped him! (I should buy a case, just "because"!)
Hey, don't knock it! Money is money, and maybe their ads will be more entertaining that the boring crap he's had on for years. I personally think this would be a great time for Trojan Condoms to jump on-board, considering the great publicity Rush gave them by talking about how many condoms Fluke could have purchased for $3,000
Some of those advertisers had the most irritating commercials. I will not miss them..................
It would be a tiny fraction of his current audience.
I suspect a large number of his radio listeners are in places where they couldn’t get internet streaming easily.
My workshop is a good example.
When I listen, I hear both “national” advertisers and local ads. So, if you figure that he’s lost 36 total advertisers and that most of these are local buys, big deal. These will be replaced quickly.
Thanks for the list. I’ll make sure they don’t get our family funds.
Why trust data submitted by Politico and Media Matters?
What a crock?
Waiting to how the 36 advertisers stocks end up in six weeks.
I would be willing to bet that this was a pre-organized set-up that tracks directly back to the White House. Obama would love nothing more than to silence all opposition prior to the election. Rush took the bait. But, Obama has dramatically underestimated how many people hate his guts and wouldn’t vote for him no matter how many Conservatives he silences.
I support Rush and will not support these companies. When Ed Schultz said “slut” regarding Ingraham, there was not this kind of outrage and sponsor/station defections. Then again
Ed has less than 100 stations, Rush has over 600. Rush makes
$50 mil/yr and his Southern Command mansion is huge and impressive. The libs are trying to take him down and these
sponsors are helping. Carbonite’s CEO is a lib but advertised on Rush’s show because it got results. Now he has pressure
from the Left to pull out, and he did.
“From today’s TRI Newsletter: Delta Radio owner Larry Fuss sees Limbaugh Show advertisers bailing and says hes telling former Limbaugh advertiser Carbonite that his own action stems from your cancellation of Carbonites sponsorship of the Rush Limbaugh radio program Rush has millions of fans, many of whom, like myself, are business owners and Carbonite users. Fuss admits that Limbaugh may have engaged in a poor choice of words, he was nevertheless right about the entitlement mentality in this country and those who promote it. He says By canceling your advertising on his show, you are empowering these very people. Fuss says I dont do business with any of the other companies that have bailed, but Ill make sure to avoid them in the future.
Are they or were they a “Catholic” institution? Now over a crude joke (apologized for 3 times) they are walking away from Limbaugh to support a feminazi activist who is attending Georgetown for the purpose of challenging Church doctrine?
To “ST VINCENTS” MEDICAL CENTER” this incident eclipses Rushs 27 YEARS of spearheading EIB fund drives for leukemia and lymphoma research, and MILLIONS IN HIS PERSONAL DONATIONS????
You just have to say “WTF” is going on in the heads of these people?
Unless you mean exclusively; I doubt it would ever get that far.
This is a classic example of how the collectivists use PC to control the masses.
Hurrah!!! Commercial free listening!!!
I listen online. Love the paradies that fill up the commercial breaks.
I have never heard a Girl Scout ad?!!
Local Council maybe- but we are a scratching nonprofit usually looking for free publicity, not paid ads.
I wonder how much of this stuff about advertisers is being exaggerated or made up by gleeful lefties.
Rush is a clever man, brilliant.
I look forward to seeing how he turns this back on the left.
Meanwhile I feel sorry for innocent employees of outfits like Sears and Carbonite and Pro Flowers who are going to be out of work when business drops. This economy sure cannot afford this cowardly crap decision from their CEOs.
I surely do not see Axelrod Inc and his flying monkeys taking up the customer slack when they succeed in this boiler room ad boycott.
Now, I am off to order some tea.
“The Left must have a very co-ordinated effort putting pressure on the advertisers.”
They do. Even going so far as putting pressure on other clients of the SAME advertiser. Before Carbonite caved, Kim Komando was pressured to pressure Carbonite, one of her sponsors, to drop Rush. I know that’s convoluted but that’s what we’re dealing with - people who are actually employed to do this kind of thing.
If you missed Kim’s response as posted on FR, here is a link:
Rush has taken so many companies I have never heard of before and made them household names I am guessing there will be many newer companies who seen this as an idea time to make a buy.
All of these companies will find out what it is like to pull out of advertising on Limbaugh. Carbonite is already finding out. Liberals don’t spend money. They just look for free deals. It is a great lesson to avoid doing business with liberals.
does anyone know of a good replacement for when I cancel Netflix? I would like to be able to watch programming on my tv, like I can with Netflix.
I currently am using my wii to get netflix, and have a roku box I bought from netflix years ago.
Seems they might want to advertise in the Georgetown Law School Newspaper. Maybe there's some young elite liberal women who 'want' things but don't want to pay for them. Isn't that the classic 'gold digger' stance? "I want, I want, but I want someone else to pay"...
GEICO is one that I do business with. I sent the below a few moments ago to them - I will inform here at FR if I get a response. Maybe their actions was the result of an ad agency and not corporate policy.
Netflix is next on my contacts....
GEICO currently has all my auto insurance and home ins (via ASI).
I am 64 and wonder why you pulled your advertising from the Rush Limbaugh radio program? Were you pressured by the current administration’s people? Do you believe that the tax payer should pay for others personal practices? Do you actually believe the Fluke was NOT a plant by the Obama admin?? Please give me your Corporate reasoning for your cancellation..Also will GEICO be refusing to buy advertising with MSNBC, Bill Maher’s program and others who have used worse language (anaolgies)?
Thanks for your time..MHF
You can't be serious. That is actually one of your reasons?
Since their announcements, these sponsors’ stocks have dived. They’re losing business right and left from angry conservatives. Serves them right.
Look up information on Proflowers and its founder Jared Solis.
How these people enjoy our freedoms and capitalist society and then try to crush dissent is beyond me. I don’t know what they do with their minds.
The story on Snapple was that after Quaker Oats bought them they dropped Rush. After doing so Snapple was mismanaged and were then sold by Quaker Oats for about a $1 Billion loss to another company that I believe they did go back and advertise with Rush’s show for a period of time.
Ain't that the truth!
Hey folks .... we cant stop the death threats Rush is now receiving, but we can fight back and help Rush out. I sent an e-mail to my local radio station yesterday to thank them for carrying the Rush show because I was certain they were coming under some pressure from the Left. The message I got back was:
It hasnt been easy. The opposition is very organized...but thanks.
I guess I should not have been surprised . but I was. This is a strong Rush market and I did not expect the station to be coming under such pressure.
If you are so inclined, PLEASE contact your local Rush radio station and let them know that you support them for carrying Rush. If you have state ping lists, let them know this is going on. Enlist the aid of your friends and relatives living in the area ... whatever resources you have to get the message to these beleaguered radio stations, use them!
If you want some interesting if not shocking reading on how organized these Leftists are, heres an article worth reading (its a few pages long, please read it all):
Another good website is Brent Bozells who says hes fighting back ... he just cant stand by and do nothing:
Regardless of what you may or may not think of Rush, we CANNOT let the Left win this war and make no mistake, it is a WAR.
We are living in the times described by George Orwell when he said In an era of universal deceit, the truth is a revolutionary act. I say: To cower in silence is no longer an option. I know the power of FReepers when they get together and ACT this is the time to DO something!!!
(PS if I’ve pinged you more than once, sorry . trying not to do that.)
He’s saying right now that these are lies that are much like polling results; they are lies meant to influence public opinion.
He’s right, they lie, socialists always lie.
Rush is calling B.S. on all of this as we speak.
2 sponsors are begging to come back ( bet it’s pro flowers & carbonite)
and he has 3 majors showing up in the next 2 weeks.!
I’m listening to him right now, and he says these numbers are a crock!
He says he’s got 3 new sponsors coming in, and a couple of sponsors that dropped him are begging to come back now!
I’d tell ‘em to “F OFF”! He’s not giving any names though.
Absolutely. The way Rush would be discussing the current news and events of the day and seamlessly segue into Life-lock or Carbonite or whatever...
pissed me off.
I’m listening to Rush now, and he’s saying that’s not true. Most of these advertisers are not sponsors of his show, at least not nationally.
That'd be my guess too! I know the market took a dump yesterday, but Carbonite took about a 9% DIVE, while the overall markets were only off about 1.5%! Wonder if that had anything to do with them dumping Rush?
I thought I heard a Lifelock commercial yesterday on Rush’s show with Rush doing the commercial.
wouldn't trust them. Rush is addressing this now on radio. May have 18,000 sponsors When you add over 600 stations, it is intentionally being misrepresented. 2 want to come back, 3 new signed on..show is okay
“Waiting to how the 36 advertisers stocks end up in six weeks.’
Me too. Suddenly losing exposure to 20 million listeners cannot help business. I wouldn’t have a clue who Carbonite is were it not for Rush.
thanks, good post
>>2 sponsors are begging to come back
I’d like to think our own voices on this—cancelling services of these sponsors and letting them know, letting stations know we’re glad they run Rush, etc.—are a big factor. In the P.R. game, companies get antsy when pressure groups
contact them, threaten boycotts, etc. They don’t want to lose business. But they can lose OUR business by backing off
their sponsorship. Our voices are being heard here.
And so far only the stations in Hilo, HI and Pittsfield, MA
have dropped him. In the Berkshire Eagle, the Pittsfield
area paper, most people in a poll said they were glad
the station (WBEC) dropped him. That poll was probably (the lib equivalent of) freeped...and it’s lib territory anyway, though Rush can be heard on stations from Albany, etc. just as easily.
