PELL CITY, Ala. — Newt Gingrich says he isn’t dropping out of the Republican presidential race.

Gingrich said during an Alabama campaign swing Wednesday that he’s staying in because it’s impossible for a moderate Republican to be elected president in November. He was referring to front-runner Mitt Romney.

Gingrich also said rival Rick Santorum, whom Gingrich is battling to be the preferred conservative, is a creature of the establishment.

Top allies of Santorum have said Gingrich should drop out.

Why not, he skipped Super Tuesday to save half the votes in his own state.

As you know if you’ve read my posts over the last months, I am a huge Newt fan, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that in order to stop Romney, there is going to have to be an alliance of Newt and Santorum. I would only make one demand of Santorum in terms of adopting Newt’s positions, and that would be that he take up and run with Newt’s energy exploration and production plan. I don’t like Santorum’s tax plan feature of subsidizing manufacturers, but I don’t think that element is going to survive anyway. But, the energy plan is a game changer for the country.

Santorum is probably a real nice guy and God probably really likes him a lot. And Romney is just Romney. But they are not the warriors that we need to send into the battle. They will be eaten alive and we will all pay for it with 4 more years of Obama. Maybe it is God’s plan to take the U.S. into the pits. They say you have to hit rock bottom before you finally get serious about doing right.
Be prepared, stock up and don’t ever give up.

And if he does not? It would make a large difference in his perceived viability to win. Would losses mean the opposite, or is he somehow destined to win regardless? Coming close to overcoming in Michigan and Ohio has not overly helped Santorum. If the expectations of a huge Newt win are there, failure to close the deal can hurt more.

No, he’s not. But how’s that working for him? He’s way back in the polls. He’s got my vote no matter what but the main thing is to stop Obamalite.

I’m Baptist and I must admit to being a bit of a “backslider” but I don’t really understand the lack of forgiveness for Newt’s marital transgressions after he has publicly admitted his mistakes and gone to his Church and received absolution for his sin. Every Church I’ve attended ends the service with an invitation to come to and accept Jesus and be forgiven for your sins and receive salvation. Apparently many want Jesus to forgive Newt but they are not willing to do so themselves. My wife says she doesn’t care about Newt’s marriages, that we don’t know or need to know the details she just knows that America needs Newt.

The most recent poll for Alabama, albeit from a suspect source, shows Newt a distant third there behind Romney and Santorum.

No "distant third' for Gingrich - first. Nope, not this poll taken around mid Feb shows Newt on top even after all the FL BS by the Press and Romney including Santorum who ran negative ads against Gingrich.

http://www.wsfa.com/story/17013932/gingrich-leads-in-asu-presidential-primary-poll

Since that time, Newt has very likely Newt expanded the lead in Alabama like he did in GA.

Well, there is not really anything I like about Santorum’s stated policy positions compared to Newt’s, but I do like how he stands up for limiting government with respect to religious freedom. I am afraid he would be the type to give in to some type of bail out for union companies, which I think in a few years we will be facing with GM, again.

Jaw-dropping! So Gingrich with cap-and-trade hugging Pelosi on a park bench and $1.6m Fanie Mae albatross around his neck, is not a “creature of the establishment.” This is some gumption coming from one who has now become a spoiler and an enabler of Romney to clinch the nomination. His “southern stragey” went up in flames on Super Tuesday placing third in neighboring OK and TN, while splitting the conservative vote in WA, AZ, MI and OH, and allowing Romney to triumph. No small wonder that we now have a rising chorus of conservative voices demanding he withdraw and withdraw now.

A vote for Santorum is a vote for Obama.

Newt and Rick need to set aside differences and join together to defeat Mitt once and for all.

All conservatives need to push this.

Right, but it should be Gingrich/Santorum....not Santorum/Gingrich. Any other way would be totally ridiculous.

We have to stop the Bush establishment guy-Newt is our only hope to go to the convention and to be able to force/fight for a conservative to win. Newt has to lead the battle. I think people are fooling themselves if they think this is over. Romney will win over Rick. Romney cannot beat Newt. Obama cannot beat Newt. Look at the personalities. How many times does Palin have to tell the patriots to fight/not play safe/to Fight. This game by the media was turned on us by propping up the weaker guy to be the conservative voice. It’s clear in your face tactics.

Naah, "Jaw-dropping" is when Senator Santo hooked up with super leftist Babs Boxer and Hillary Clintooon and bragged about it, and Santo has always grew the Federal government when he had a chance.

Tennessee is a southern state. Newt didn’t even come in second, much less win.
