And the cost premium hormonal contraception via patch or implant averages at $390 PER YEAR. That’s the equivalent of 1,170 condoms per year, which should be enough, I daresay, even for Sandra Fluke.

The only way you can can come up with $3000 over 3 years is through multiple abortions.

So, what is Ms Fluke’s ultimate motive in:
1. attending Georgetown U, a Catholic institution
2. trying to change their birth control policy
3. pushing to give testimony before the subcommittee?

I believe the answer is that she, and her like-minded cohorts, want to force the Catholic Church to fund abortions.

The Obamacare mandate requires that insurance companies cover the full cost of any FDA approved contraceptive, not just generics. So while the cost of generics may be quite low, it is not impossible that Ms. Fluke was paying $1,000 a year for a brand-name patented product.

For any other drug, Obamacare wants to push you into the generic, even if it is not as effective, in order to save a couple of bucks. But the rules are different for contraceptives.

Which is probably the reason why patented birth control accounts for so many of the advertisements you see on daytime TV. They are looking for customers with pockets full of Other People’s Money.

It IS the argument Rush made. And in response to the initial news reports, he did it with condoms.

Condoms are less than $1 each. So a budget of $1,000/year suggests how many sexual encounters each year?

Hence the “slut” - because if you take Fluke’s testimony literally, then the women of Georgetown are having in excess of 1,000 sex acts each year. Maybe more like 2,500 - 3,000.

If a woman has 1-2,000 sexual encounters every year, what is she?

Rush’s entire point was NEVER that Fluke was REALLY a super-promiscuous coed, but that she was LYING about her claims of the costs! That was what made it funny: it was ABSURD that anyone would take her seriously. He - and we, since my daughter was listening too - was laughing at the idea that birth control is a heavy financial burden that needs government intervention.

That is obvious to anyone listening to the entire show, instead of taking a few sentences out of context. The problem is that the MSM is excellent at lying instead of reporting...

Has anyone actually found any of her “sexual partners”

I find it hard to believe that she’s had sex with a male.

This whole thing is a sham and she needs to be exposed further.

You know. Rush has the money to dig into Ms. Fluke’s past and discredit her and prove that she is in fact a “slut”. Why not do it. The Dems are making political hay out of this debacle. The Women’s Approval of Obama now is up around 57%.

That is WHY the Left started that fire to begin with. To hide the reality of what Rush stated so clearly.

She sets my gaydar off as well. However, the point Rush was making by illustrating the absurdity of it was that her testimony about the cost of birth control was false - false to the point of being laughable.

I don’t think anyone truly believes Fluke is having sex with over 1,000 people (or the same guy over 1,000 times) a year. That is why my 14 year old daughter broke out laughing when Rush went ‘let’s see....$1 a condom. How many condom cans you buy for $1,000....someone help me with the math’.

It sure does add up...

If PP can get 50% of their 300,000 abortion ‘clients’ to sign up for the Sandra Fluke plan... its an ongoing revenue stream of $180 Million dollars a year at a very healthy markup.

If they can add 1% of the 12 million female college students... it’s another $150 Million a year in revenue.

Nothing more than a giant money laundering opportunity to promote death and democrats.

This is the argument that Rush should have made.

There were some other things that I think Rush should have attacked. Fluke said she wasn't going to tell her story and then told the stories of six women. Some of those stories were open to ridicule. According to Fluke, one woman:

"told us about how embarrassed and just powerless she felt when she was standing at the pharmacy counter and learned for the first time that contraception was not covered on her insurance and she had to turn and walk away because she couldn’t afford that prescription. Women like her have no choice but to go without contraception.
"Have no choice but to go without contraception?" Free contraception, Planned Parenthood, and $/9 month contraception weren't raised.

Similarly, Fluke said one of the women she was speaking for was "a married female student [who] told me that she had to stop using contraception because she and her husband just couldn’t fit it into their budget anymore." Again, how are free condoms not in their budget? Or a trip to Planned Parenthood? $9/month? Can you imagine Rush riffing on that?

Fluke also told the story of a woman who was raped and didn't get tested for STDs because the didn't have contraceptive converage, so she assumed nothing related to a woman's reproduction was covered. That's just stupid, and even if her contraception was covered it wouldn't have treated her stupidity.

Rush missed a lot of softballs when he erroneously claimed Fluke talked about own her sex life and made up all of these things Fluke 'said' about her own sex life.

"Ode To Sandra Fluke"

Idiot Wind by Bob Dylan

Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your mouth
Blowing down the back roads headin' south
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth
You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe

Someone's got it in for me
They're planting stories in the press
Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out
But when they will I can only guess
They say I shot a man named gray
And took his wife to Italy
She inherited a million bucks

And when she died it came to me, I can't help it if I'm lucky

People see me all the time
And they just cant remember how to act
Their minds are filled with big ideas
Images and distorted facts
Even you, yesterday
You had to ask me where it was at
I couldn't believe after all these years

You didn't know me better than that sweet lady

Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your mouth
Blowing down the back roads headin' south
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth
You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe

I ran into the fortuneteller
Who said beware of lightning that might strike
I haven't known peace and quiet
For so long I can't remember what it's like
There's a lone soldier on the cross
Smoke pourin' out of a boxcar door
You didn't know it, you didn't think it could be done
In the final end he won the wars after losin' every battle

I woke up on the roadside
Daydreamin' 'bout the way things sometimes are
Visions of your chestnut mare shoot through my head
And are makin' me see stars
You hurt the ones that I love best
And cover up the truth with lies
One day you'll be in the ditch
Flies buzzin' around your eyes, blood on your saddle

Idiot wind, blowing through the flowers on your tomb
Blowing through the curtains in your room
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth
You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe

It was gravity which pulled us down
And destiny which broke us apart
You tamed the lion in my cage
But it just wasn't enough to change my heart
Now everything's a little upside down

As a matter of fact the wheels have stopped
What's good is bad, what's bad is good
You'll find out when you reach the top, you're on the bottom

I noticed at the ceremony
Your corrupt ways had finally made you blind
I can't remember your face anymore
Your mouth has changed, your eyes don't look into mine
The priest wore black on the seventh day
And sat stone-faced while the building burned
I waited for you on the running boards
Near the cypress trees, while the springtime, turned slowly into autumn

Idiot wind, blowing like a circle around my skull
From the grand coulee dam to the capitol
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth
You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe

I can't feel you anymore
I can't even touch the books you've read
Every time I crawl past your door
I been wishin' I was somebody else instead
Down the highway, down the tracks
Down the road to ecstasy
I followed you beneath the stars
Hounded by your memory and all your ragin' glory

I been double crossed now for the very last time
And now I'm finally free
I kissed goodbye the howling beast
On the borderline which separated you from me
You'll never know the hurt I suffered
Nor the pain I rise above
And I'll never know the same about you
Your holiness or your kind of love and it makes me feel so sorry

Idiot wind, blowing through the buttons of our coats
Blowing through the letters that we wrote
Idiot wind, blowing through the dust upon our shelves
Were idiots, babe
It's a wonder we can even feed ourselves

Rush’s entire point was NEVER that Fluke was REALLY a super-promiscuous coed

Are you certain?

A lot of his comments sounded like he was saying she was super-promiscuous. He called her "the Georgetown student who went before a congressional committee and said she's having so much sex, she's going broke buying contraceptives."

He said "She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception.'

He claimed she said "I'm going broke having sex!" (and since the birth control pill is paid by the month, he meant she was using a lot of condoms).

He asked Fluke who bought her condoms in the sixth grade.

He said "I know what her virtue is. She's having so much sex that she's going broke! There's no question about her virtue."

Those are only a portion of his statements.

I'm leaving out the parts about how she said she was having so much sex she couldn't walk and things like that. By the way, Rush Limbaugh has removed the transcripts of his comments about Fluke from the 2/29 and 3/1 broadcasts.

I think a fair read of what Rush Limbaugh said is that she was promiscuous.

The Not-So-Bitter Pill (Sandra Fluke's contraception-cost numbers don't add up)

Of course not! Libs never let the facts stand in their way and if need be, you manufacture statistics. That's why we are in economic "recovery" with only 8+ % unemployed. You just quit counting people until the figures look the way YOU want them, and then scream and shout and get all the media to spread "the word".

I believe that the money generated from this program is the whole reason they want government to pay through our premiums. This is the exact opposite of competition/free market. When the day comes that PP stops getting funded through the federal budget - it will compensate the lost money through raising prices of their ‘services’. They will charge whatever level they want and health insurance companies (or ObamaCare) will have to pay the price they are demanding.

Fluke's speech was carefully written. Fluke didn't say contraception costs $3,000 during law school. Fluke said:

"Without insurance coverage, contraception, as you know, can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school."

Then Fluke went on to talk about contraception that was needed for medical reasons. You and I know that some contraceptives - not available in generic form - are used for certain medical reasons. Those aren't the ones that are available for $9/month or $15/month.

This whole thing was carefully written and staged. First, we screamed the $3,000/year was wrong (some us said read what she said - she said during law school, that's over $1,000 per year. Now, we're screaming contraception is available for under $1,000 a year. Yes, but she set us up. She said it can cost over $1,000 per year and gave examples of contraceptives needed for medical reasons. I'll wager generic contraceptives aren't going to work on all those cases and that Fluke is technically right. Some pro helped her write what she said.

Disagree.

The mess Rush is in is a classic example. He’s in trouble not so much for being inaccurate, but for being “mean” to a woman.

It isn’t fair, but women (liberal women) are still treated more gingerly than men or conservative women.

Rush is perceived as unchivalrously attacking a helpless female. While this perception is not necessarily accurate, it is killing him and has allowed the Left to judo flip the entire issue from one that is good for conservatives to a huge win for them.

They quote Rolls-Royce costs for Chevy Cruze amenities. Birth-control pills are, out of pocket, maybe $50 per month, or $600 a year, not $3,000, as Sandra Fluke claims.

Rush really blew this one.

A conservative man should always strive to be a gentleman, even when dealing with women who are not ladies.

I agree about being a gentleman, but respectfully, I don't think that's where he blew it. I think he blew it by not tearing apart what she actually said and instead claiming she talked about her own sex life and contraception and then attacking her. He could have ripped apart her actual presentation. She threw him some softballs and he never swung at them.

Fluke told the stories of six women. One had been raped and didn't seek testing for STDs because she knew contraception wasn't covered and thought that meant nothing related to 'reproductive rights,' including STD testing, would be covered. That's just stupid; contraception doesn't treat stupid.

Fluke said after another woman:

"learned for the first time that contraception was not covered on her insurance and she had to turn and walk away because she couldn’t afford that prescription. Women like her have no choice but to go without contraception."

Rush should have torn that apart. We should all be tearing that apart. No choice? There's Planned Parenthood, free condoms in high school, states with $9/month oral contraceptives - and I Googled 'free oral birth control."

Instead, he ignored it and pretended as if Fluke made claims about her own sex life.

Fluke claimed one married woman had to do without any contraception because she couldn't fit it in her budget if it wasn't covered. Again - Planned Parenthood? Free condoms? Skipping Netflix and paying $9/month?

That's where he blew it, by not tearing apart the stories she really told.

Every time conservatives call Fluke a slut and claim she talked about her sex life (she never mentioned it), they miss the chance to dissect her real statements.

Even Judge Judy would call that hearsay.

You're tossing around legal terms. Fluke told about six women. You didn't hear Rush Limbaugh calling it hearsay. You heard him claim that she told about her own sex life and make up things about that. She wasn't sworn and neither was Rush. If you're not requiring people to be sworn and hers was hearsay, then are you trying to say his claims she talked about her sex life were perjury?

We should have torn apart what she said.

And by the way, it wasn't technically hearsay if you're using that term in the legal sense. Fluke wasn't sworn and wasn't offering a statement made out of court or a hearing for the purpose of proving the truth of the matter asserted in the statement.

“I think a fair read of what Rush Limbaugh said is that she was promiscuous.”

Not if you read it IN CONTEXT!

If he really thought she was a slut, or super-promiscuous, it wouldn’t be funny. It would be sad. The reason he was laughing was because the idea was so ridiculous.

Yes, if you take individual sentences out of a 3 hour broadcast, you can make it mean almost anything. But if he really thought that Fluke and others at Georgetown were having 1-2000 episodes of sex every year, then it would VALIDATE her testimony rather than refute it.

He used absurdity to highlight absurdity - as he always does. The idea that a coed in law school has time for sex 5 times a day is absurd - thus the idea that a coed in law school needs the government to help her pay for her birth control is absurd.

The first absurdity (she has sex over 1,000 times each year) reveals the second absurdity (she needs help paying for birth control). The first is a funny mental image, but the fact that the idea is ridiculous means her testimony and her argument for sponsored birth control was ridiculous.

I think Rush apologized because it became obvious that people didn’t appreciate the irony. Hard as it is for me to believe, they didn’t realize that the idea of a law school coed having sex well in excess of 1,000 times a year is ridiculous.

What has shocked me is that so many on FreeRepublic also didn’t catch the point...

“However, he contributed greatly to turning the issue being discussed from freedom of religion to whether contraception should be banned.”

Please stop repeating leftist lies.

Rush did not in any way suggest that contraception should be banned. He repeatedly rejected that idea, and pointed out repeatedly that NO ONE in the GOP is suggesting it.

As I pointed out in my previous post to another member:

“He used absurdity to highlight absurdity - as he always does.

The first is a funny mental image, but the fact that the idea is ridiculous means her testimony and her argument for sponsored birth control was ridiculous.”

“Rush should have torn that apart. We should all be tearing that apart. No choice? There’s Planned Parenthood, free condoms in high school, states with $9/month oral contraceptives - and I Googled ‘free oral birth control.”

Rush did. He repeatedly pointed out the free clinics offering birth control, that Wal-Mart & Target offer it for $9/month, and he took callers saying their wives were buying it for $4/month at stores near them.

I rarely listen to Rush more than an hour/week. It was by chance that I clicked on Rush 24/7 and heard his initial comments. My 14 year old daughter in the next room was working on her homework, but she immediately started laughing. We listened to the entire show, and laughed the whole way thru.

Like Rush, it never occurred to me that people wouldn’t catch the absurdity. Or maybe I’m just undersexed, and didn’t realize that most people are getting laid 6 times a day, 365 days/year.

I never said any such thing.

I said what Rush said contributed to allowing the Left to effectively change the subject. I think that, however ludicrous, is an undeniable fact. The subject DID get changed, and what Rush said helped them change it.

Rush seldom loses in a war of words, but he got out-manuevered on this one. The facts are more or less irrelevant in this case. The public perception is what matters.

Rush Limbaugh's website just removed the portions of the transcript of his 2/29 and 3/1 shows in which he talked about Sandra Fluke.

This means the 'slut' and 'prostitute' comments are gone, as well as all of the things he claimed she said about her sex life (but he made up), and the things he correctly criticized about what she said.

However there are some stray links from other segments where you can find parts of those clips.

I don't think this been picked up on by the left and I do not know if it will be.

Yes, if you take individual sentences out of a 3 hour broadcast, you can make it mean almost anything.

I didn't have to make it mean almost anything, because Rush is an excellent speaker and he was specific.

Do you have a copy of the transcripts from 2/29 and 3/1? I do.

You won't find them at Limbaugh's site; he removed them today.

I keep a .pdf or .html copy of things I find on the Internet in case they are deleted.

It wasn't individual sentences, it was paragraph after paragraph, particularly 'double-down' day, 3/1.

He said she was base and immoral based on the amount of sex she was having. It's not being 'absurd' to call someone base and immoral and to say it's based on the amount of sex they are having. "Base" and "immoral" were his words, and he's the one who made up the part about the amount of sex she was having.
