[Wisconsin] Union leader criticizes mining bill vote [Dems are "job killers"]

Milwaukee--Lyle Balistreri wasn't scheduled to speak during Wednesday night's "Reclaim Wisconsin" rally at Serb Hall, but took the stage anyway to lash out against what he called the "ugly partisan politics" that led to the rejection of a mining permit bill.

He singled out the 16 senate democrats who voted no including Milwaukee State Senator Spencer Coggs who was also in attendance.

Balistreri represents more than 15-thousand construction trades workers in southeast Wisconsin, men and women who would have benefited from the mining reform bill.

"For the Senate Democrats to vote against this bill is a sign that they're not with us. They're certainly not job creators, and in fact they're job killers. And I'm sick and tired of the partisan politics in the State of Wisconsin. The working people in the state of are taking a beating. Democrats and Republicans are at each other's throats, and this sort of thing has to stop," said Balistreri.

State Senator Spencer Coggs told CBS 58 that Senate Republicans were unwilling to make compromises necessary to protect the environment.

State Senator Dale Schultz was the lone republican who side with democrats and voted no.

Maybe, just maybe, the Union “MEMBERS” will begin to realize just who is really selling them down the river. It is a long list, and that list tragically includes the UNION LEADERS.

The “compromises” the democrats want are poison pills and no mining company would come here if they passed them. It would make mining MORE DIFFICULT than ever before if they pass.

The “compromises” are:

1. A year and a half wait review/contest period.

2. Expanded litigation ability for just about any group.

3. Company pays 25 million dollars up front in taxes before anything is taken out of the mine.

That will happen right after blacks figure out the same thing.

Don’t hold your breath.

I have extended family on the Iron Range.

These days a part-time minimum wage gig at the local grocery store is considered a good job there.

Bunch of Democrat fools.

The state even got the “badger” nickname from mining.

The Left just hates . . . everything.

Public Sector unions are only using the private sector ones as their cannon fodder.

On the video you can clearly hear the members in the audience voicing their approval of what he was saying. We’ll see if it keeps up.

Is this story some sort of joke that the media is trying to play on their viewers/reader/listeners?

The Pubbies can re-submit the bill for the next session. They can even modify it a bit to quell the environmental concerns. Once that is done the Pubbies have to make sure to publicize it when it comes up for a vote emphasizing that it will increase employment AND protect the environment.

And if the Dems vote it down again the Pubbies must take the initiative to let Wisconsinites know it.

If the Pubbies submit bill after bill that encourages private sector employment that they know will get shot down over and over again by Dems it’ll be perfect ammunition to help turn over seats to the Pubbies in next election.

My nephew works for a company that does the study of environmental impact of mining in northern Wisconsin. He claims that for several decades the studies have shown that the impact of mining was not a negative one. The companies have promised to restore lands, etc. One company even promised to set up a water purification plant so that the ground water would actually be purer than what it had been prior to the mine. But the environmentalists rejected that because “the water was supposed to be exactly the way it was” before the mining; in other words purer water was a bad thing to these environmentalist wackos. They would rather live with dirty water.

Go figure. These folks are never going to compromise on anything because they are irrational.

All these leftists that are screaming about mining pollution are completely missing every year when the City of Milwaukee (Democrat run of course) dumps millions of gallons of human excrement into Lake Michigan after big rain storms...

The Left is rational in the sense that they are promoting the outcome they want, in this case using the environmentalist disguise.

Environmentalism isn’t about clean air or water; it’s about crippling the American economy to make the revolution inevitable.

It’s too bad that Gogebic can’t put out some sort of statement that the “compromise” bills would have put them in exactly the same spot they are today - with no mining in Wisconsin. It would put to bed the lie that Dems were “willing to support mining but for the environmental concerns”
