A battle among Republicans in the House of Representatives over government spending laid bare on Thursday deep divisions that threaten the party's hopes of major gains in the November congressional elections.

House Speaker John Boehner, the top Republican in Congress, faced a new challenge to his authority as lawmakers aligned to the budget-slashing Tea Party movement ignored his plea to support a $260 billion job creation measure he had championed.

It’s in Boneheads interest to depress Tea Party voters.
If another large batch of Tea Party congresscritters are sent to DC,
Bonehead won’t be Majority leader.

Do FReepers want the spending or not?

Search “Boehner” and you’ll find the thread.

Bonehead won’t be majority leader because his tactics will depress conservative voters all across the country that and nominate ROMNEY will.

So we’ll likely lose Republicans this round, the good and the bad, and it’ll be ugly!

I found the thread, and I agree that it was embarrassing. Nearly every poster belittled and demeaned Boehner without anyone stating a single valid reason for doing so.

I'll take a complete gross of “OR NOT”! Increased spending is insane... it will do nothing but dig our hole deeper and entrench socialist state support for those that are willing to give up the American Dream. keynesian economists are evil... it has never worked and it will not work and robert reich... the clinton communist... loves him some maynard keynes and that is proof enough of its evil.

When the Speaker of The House has no Principles of his own, this is what he says:

” - - - “This is a very difficult process we’re in,” Boehner acknowledged on Thursday. “We’ve got a new majority, we’ve got 89 freshmen and my job every day is to work with our members and find out where the center of gravity is,” he said.”

BTW, pucker up Boehner, as we are about to send you 89 more!

If it was the same thread I am thinking of, wasn’t it because Bohner was going to compromise and give in to the Senate version?

The thread is HERE but it's hard to tell what the posters' problems were. All they did was whine and say "Boner".

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Thursday the House plans to take up the Senate’s highway bill once it clears the upper chamber, conceding that his own last-ditch effort to save a House GOP measure had not succeeded.

Yes, that is the thread.

It appears that Boehner was ready to concede to the Senate Bill, when all spending Bills are to come from the House.

Yes. Apparently, he will present the Senate version to the House for a vote since he couldn't get his conservative members on board for the extra quarter trillion dollars of slop he wanted to waste.

So his House Bill actually spends more then the Senate version?

Remarkable.
