Rush Limbaugh has rejected an advertisers apparent attempt to reunite with his show after the company initially dropped its ads from the program following his remarks about contraception advocate Sandra Fluke.
The company, Sleep Train, calls itself the No. 1 Bedding Specialist on the West Coast, and most recognized mattress retailer in the region.
In an email to Sleep Train President Dale Carlsen (obtained by The Blaze), a representative of the show says that Limbaugh personally considered the companys request, but denied it considering its public comments following the controversy.
Thank you for your requests last week and this week to restart your voiced endorsement in local markets of The Rush Limbaugh Show, the email begins. Rush received your requests personally.
Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaughs character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.
Rush appreciates your long friendship and your past support, and we wish you good luck in the future.

How many people actually need to be trained to sleep, anyway?
[maybe I was just born a “natural”]
;]
They won’t admit it in public....but by the end of this year....my humble guess is that they lose around forty percent of their business. They will likely rename themselves or sell their operation onto another company. It’ll be hard to find another AM radio show that has such a big national audience, for the price they charged. And several shows....probably won’t accept them.
[He never wants to dis people who sign up with him to get favorable publicity via advertising. Shadenfreude is fun, but not worth endangering business relationships.]
This maybe a message maybe to other advertisers...think very carefully before you jump.
I’m sure Ed Schultz will be glad to hear from them. All 15 of His listeners will by something.
Me too!
Don’t forget about the sluts for Bill Clinton!
That's what I was thinking, too.
I'm sure there's some lefties who will come rescue them with all of their vast listening audience...Maybe Randie Rhodes, Alan Coombs, Bill Press, Bill Maher, or maybe they should just buy time on Air America!!!
Wait...does that network still exist???
Sleep Train Fluked themselves...
“Nevertheless and on Wednesday, Carbonite rose 3.11% to $8.61 (CARB has a 52 week trading range of $8.21 to $21.10 a share) for a market cap of $216 million but the stock was down 11% for the first six days of March, down 22% since the start of the year and down 30% since its debut last August.”
First of all, Rush’s statement is very classy. Second, I am glad he said no. Let’s see how many mattresses Sleep Train sells to the leftist clowns.
Third, this should bode very ill for future left wing “social network” campaigns. Their power has been denigrated by the lost business these sponsors are experiencing. Next time they threaten advertisers it will have a diminished impact.
Ping!
Wonderful!
I would bet that a great many shareholders in the companies that dropped Rush are conservative Rush-lovers. They probably weren’t real happy when their idiots in charge decided to cut off their noses to spite their faces. Heads will roll...figuratively speaking, of course.
In the past, there was another great spokesman for products, his name was Arthur Godfrey.
The main reason why the public bought the products he sponsored is very simple...he personally used the products before he endorsed them and the public trusted him.
It’s a lesson that will be hard learned for companies who indulge in politics before success in business.
I have no doubt that Rush made his remarks about Fluke intentionally. I doubt that his sponsers were part of the strategy. Note that O’Reilly is sniffing around trying to find out who’s behind Fluke. He thinks it’s the White House. Her claim about the price of contraceptives for students is being proven false. Is this another angle of attack in the vetting of Obama?
I love this. Good for Rush, he is an awesome American. Thanks for all you do Rush, you are the best !
I've got to think that the conservative talkers, esp. Hannity and Levin who are close friends of Rush, won't have anything to do with the sponsors that pulled out, esp. the ones that made snotty comments.
If Rush won’t endorse Sleep Train, perhaps they can retain Fluke to endorse their mattresses once she gets the government to mandate Georgetown insure her birth control pills so she can put the mattress to good use.
It's a pretty stupid long-term business plan to cast off willing customers with disposable incomes to gain favor with unemployed debtors who think they deserve the niceties of the market at no cost.
I’m not sure it would be put to good use for her victims. lol
Hey Sleep Train, you know the expression: you made your bed....
“OReilly is sniffing around trying to find out whos behind Fluke. He thinks its the White House.”
He THINKS it’s the White House?! Sheesh... nothing gets past Bill, does it? -sarc-
Thanks for the contact info. Here is the email I just sent to Sleeptrain:
“You may now add me to the list of those who rather sleep on the floor than buy a mattress from you after your betrayal of Rush Limbaugh. You chose leftwing profligacy over basic decency. And I prefer not to associate with your type.
“Rush made a mistake and admitted it (Fluke is not a slut; she is a radical leftwing abortion zealot). Fluke lied repeatedly in her phony testimony. But, since she is one of your fellow travelers, you chose her over decency. Big mistake.”
I don't think it's that far-fetched. He got lots of free publicity out of it, his sponsors will be back, and he's ditched the vulnerable ones.
Rush's show is geared for advertisers who don't necessarily care of the Left boycotts them, as long as the Right supports them.
Well at least you'll know there is a chance for a good time....
This is TOO PLAUSABLE not to be fact. And you’re right; Rush just ain’t no pu$$y!
Message to the executives of Sleep Train, Carbonite, Proflowers and others of their ilk: You run companies that are dependent upon appealing to consumers with the disposable income to purchase your products and services. Guess what? You just pissed most of them off! As for the politically correct crowd you were trying to appease with your foolish decision to pull your advertising from the Rush show - most of them are not going to be purchasing your products. Either they are of the welfare class and don't have the disposable income to purchase your products or they are of the trust fund class and they are too snobby to purchase mattresses through a retailer or order up a vase of flowers online for Valentines Day or what not.
Those clueless execs have no business sitting in a corporate boardroom.
Now, they say in a commercial just before Rush signs off, “Get ready for Ed Schultz!, COME ON! You can handle it! He's not that bad! Try listen to him just a little, you might just discover that you like what you hear! LOL!
Hey call Mike Dunn the owner or write him and let him know

Wahoooo! I hope word gets spread fast to other companies who don’t research members of the “Liars for Hussein Club” before they decide to jump in and try to destroy somebody. It may give them pause if they think a bit of backlash could bite them in the butt. Hopefully, karma will be a bitch for Sleeptrain.
Gee, perhaps that mattress company should hire Ms. Fluke as their spokesperson as she obvious spends a lot of time using such products.
You hit onto something! Someone (a conservative group of course) should create a PAC called “Sluts for Obama” and put up crazy ads for him which will embarass him.
Thanks for the ping. Rush is doing us proud....
Ironically, we are moving next month and it is time for a new bed.
In most circumstances, I'd agree with you.Shadenfreude is fun, but not worth endangering business relationships.
But I think Sleep Train was just made an example of. A message to other advertisers, you might say.
Oh, theres no doubt that that is true. I just think that publishing the identity of the particular advertiser was done without the direction and probably against the policy of Rush himself. But I think that Rush, rightly, has less than zero interest in giving prospective sponsors pause as to potential risks associated with becoming sponsors.I would be more surprised that Rush associated himself with the outing of a former sponsor than I would be to learn that an associate of Rushs became a former associate of Rushs because this former sponsor was publicly embarrassed.
The closest thing I can think of as a counterexample against my point is the Two If By Tea initiative, which has to be seen as a slap at Snapple - although, Two If By Tea is positioned and certainly priced in a different category from Snapple.
They wanted to publically denounce him, to appease the left. Then quietly come back when no one remembered Done the Campus Flute.
Now they’ve destroyed their business with Rush fans, and hopefully the lefties will notice their attempt to go back. Destroy those businesses from both sides.
The more I think about it, the more this looks like a good move. By having controversy NOW, and seeing who's going to cut and run, he can prune away his vulnerable support in advance of what looks like it will be a NASTY election conflict. It would be much worse to find out where he's week in the last few months before the election.

Some people are just extra talented!
You reminded me of that funny old saying -- "Sorry, my karma just ran over your dogma!" It fits this situation perfectly.
LOLOL!!!!!!
It’s a gift, I tell ya.
A true gift.
[I’m sleeping right now]
;D

It appears that the original owner did make this very stupid move.
From Wikipedia:
"The owner of Sleep Train has known host Rush Limbaugh for many years and has sponsored the show since its 1988 launch into national syndication. Sleep Train suspended advertising on the show on March 4, 2012 in the wake of the Rush LimbaughSandra Fluke controversy; the company asked to return as a sponsor on March 8, but Limbaugh declined their request."
I wrote to pro flowers something like this: The ONLY reason I used your service is because of your advertising on Rush Limbaugh. Take me off your list. I hope this was all worth it to you.
“we found one and are sending FIL some berries for his birthday”
Who did you use?
AMEN!!! I'm thinking of dropping my AOL email account to show my support for him.
AOL?!? They’re still around?
