Newt’s message is very simple. The more you have of ANYTHING, the cheaper it is.

Suppose diamonds and gold nuggets were just laying around on the ground instead of rocks and stones?

Children would have collections of the pretty stones and women would be insulted if a man presented his fiancee with a ring made out of that cheap junk.

Yeah I know that is taking an analogy a bit too far but you get the point.
