The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 25% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -19 (see trends).
Looking at Tuesday's upcoming primaries, the GOP race in Alabama is essentially a three-way tie, while Mitt Romney leads by eight in Mississippi. Nationally, Romney now leads Rick Santorum by 12 points. Regardless of who they want to win, 80% of Republican Primary Voters nationwide believe Romney will be the party's nominee.
With the perception growing that he will be the GOP nominee, Romney leads President Obama by five points in a hypothetical 2012 matchup. Today's numbers show Romney at 48%, Obama at 43%. Thats Romneys largest lead since December. Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update).

He’ll sing a few more songs, play even more golf, take even more vacations, eat even more ice cream and it will go to obama 48% romney 43%.
Drudge didn’t write the story.
The Obama Machine? it’s going to be amusing watching the Obama Machine justify high gas prices, fighting against the Keystone Pipeline, real Unemployment Numbers over 11%, record number of Americans on Welfare, and on and on.
>>>Drudge didnt write the story.
He does choose what to post. Or not. I don’t trust him.
If "everyone" has made up their minds about him, why has he lead the primary field at least twice?
Notice the unknown Santorum, the nearest thing to generic Republican left, is only even with Obama. Once he's known, once he's been defined, his support will collapse. Democrats knew how to destroy him in PA with the voters who knew him best. His 18-point loss was the worst for an incumbent senator in over a quarter century.
I'd vote for Romney in a heartbeat over Obama. Heck, I'd vote for Donald Duck over Obama.
That's true and it's bad. But what's worse is Obama is REAL and doesn't make any bones about it - he doesn't have to because the media is his re-election committee and apparently there's enough people in this country that think it's cool to elect (re-elect???) a left-of-socialist union organizer as POTUS (Chairman?) of the former USA.
As far as his polls, they are what they are until the Repub delegates choose. I'm sick of polls.
And of course he has no lines of attack ready for Santorum or Gingritch, cause his team is too politically stupids...
This has the earmarks of an attempt to manipulate the R nomination process. By the fall, anybody, including RP, could beat Obamalini. $5 gas is going to finish him.
Romney - as bad as he is, as one of my least favorite candidates - is not even close to as bad or as threatening to our country or way of life as Obama.
I’d vote for Romney in a heartbeat over Obama. Heck, I’d vote for Donald Duck over Obama.
A B O
We need to send this communist marxist neo-jihadi thug home at all costs in nov.
I hate mittens - BUT BUT BUT BUT
Indes are not afraid of Myth and he is the ‘safe” pick, even if it is ridiculous.
And i am going to say something now that is going to offend people:
Romney looks like the guy many women WISH they had married and will do better than Santorum who looks like the guy women dread they had married.
I know it is shallow and base, but this is the AI electorate we are dealing with.
Re: get back to work
NOTHING matters until Obama is defeated and sent back to Chicago/Kenya/Saudi Arabia in disgrace.
I’ve finally settled on Newt.
The only reason I had not sooner was because of his ridiculous quotes praising progressives and such policies.
The only reason he’s in this is because he can debate. He can defeat Obama. He can properly articulate conservatism.
People are listening this time. We don’t need a slick empty suit.
The fix is in. Who are we to question the GOPe, or the media?
This was decided earlier, high above our peasant level. It's time to get in line, and carry forward the pretense that we're involved in a free election. Do you think for a minute there's a choice? This election will be blackish Obama, or whitish Obama. Now, eat your peas, citizen.
Allred has hurt a lot of good people......Hell, she has hurt the whole country!
“It is a push poll to get people voting for Mitt as the primaries come to a close.”
This poll shows both Romney *AND* Santorum beating Obama.
If anything, it shows the opposite: Vote of the best candidate, because they just might get in the White House.
“They do not want to go head to head with Newton or even Rick.”
Rasmussen doesnt CARE. It’s from a reputable firm. Jeez.
The meaning of the poll is that Obama is losing ground, not that Romney is ‘gaining’
The GOP elites and the RomneyZombies will certainly spin it as Romney ‘gaining’. They’re all in the tank for Mitt-Witt.
Obama: “ Mitt, I want to sincerely thank you for your Massachusetts health care system. I based my national health care on your model.”
Death to Romney.............RIP
Of course we mean ‘political death’ for Mitt-Witt, wouldn’t want anyone to get their golden underwear into a twist, true? ;)
Yeah, I should have said “political” death.
I was thinking of a possible debate tactic by Obama : )
Some people cant see the forrest for the trees I guess.
“They” knew this ALL ALONG, no matter who runs against him. Massachusetts-Mandate Arbeitsziehungslager, which is why the Hillary Gang is now in the GOP primary. I repeat, should Mitt-Mandate lose the primary to an Anti-Arbeitsziehungslager, “they” will find a way to oust the Undocumented-Un from office or the primary before November.
Romney would never win against Obama.
We hate liberals much much more. That means we hate Romney as much as we hate Obama.
Anyone currently supporting Romney is working for Obama
(I really should make that my tagline)
Yes, I agree.
There is need for legal advocacy, but the legal profession in the United States has been very destructive.
Gloria is a good example.
>> Newt is just splitting the conbseravtive vote...to no useful purpose <<
Maybe not useful to you, but it seems that Las Vegas gazillionaire Sheldon Adelson now is funding Newt precisely with the goal of splitting the anti-Romney vote, thereby denying the nomination to Santorum. So Newt is “useful” to at least one big player.
(Adelson, as a gambling king-pin, clearly doesn’t want the morally strict Santo as POTUS.)
Newt may or may not share Adelson’s preference for Romney over Santorum. But even if Newt is staying in the race strictly for reasons of ego and increased future book sales, without regard to his presidential preference, the effect is the same: At this stage, support for Newt = support for Romney.
Net result? Rick one win and 33 delegates. Romney three wins and 32 delegates. Romney has a commanding lead of 263 delgates at this point over Santorum.
The same type of thing could happen on Tuesday as Romney will probably take Hawaii and Samoa while splitting votes amongst the three 9Santorum, Gingrich and himself) in Mississippi. He simply has a strong organization and enough money to be campaigning and fighting on the ground in all places at once.
And for those who say Romney is only a 30% or 35% candidate, he now has seven wins that were absolute majorities of his 17 wins, and four more that he had enough votes to beat Newt and Santorum combined.
But in six other contests, Newt and Santorum combined would ahve beat him which means (with Ricks 8 and Newts 2) 16 contests to date would have been won by a united strong conservative versus 11 by Romney and the delegate count would be essentially even.
The only real chance fo stopping Romney is for Sanroum and Newt to unit and one get behind the other. There will be more pressure on Newt to do this if he loses on Tuesday, leaving his southern strategy a shambles.
We'll see. I have detailed results and commentary on my GOP Primary Tracker Site
Here's the latest results:
|2012 GOP Primaries||Date||Mitt Romney||Newt Gingrich||Rick Santorum||Ron Paul||Ron Huntsman||Rick Perry||Michele Bachman||Herman Cain||Totals|
|At large Del's||29||4||2||1||0||0||0||36|
|To Date % of||Delegates||Romney||53%||Gingrich||14%||Santorum||23%||Paul||10%||Huntsman||0.22%||Perry||0%||Bachman||0%||Cain||0%|
Like I said, Rick and Newt have to combine if there is going to be any chance of stopping a out and out Romney nomination.
Delegate counts appearing in the media are usually just percentage projections and do not reflect the details of rules by which delegates are actually chosen. For, example, Iowa has chosen no delegates yet, and when it does in June it will reflect the status of the contest at that time.
If Romney is the Nominee, Obama will steamroll over him with ease in the General election. It will be a devasting loss for Mittens.
If you hate Romney as much as Obama, you do not see how much damage this man has done to our country.
You Romney lovers think you are so slick, but just like your beloved Mitt we can see you coming miles away. Why don't you explain to all of us why Mitt's liberalism would be good for our country?
Since you haven't been here very long, you may not know, but the pimping of Mitt Romney or any other liberal is not allowed here.
Welcome to Free Republic!
Anyone who currently supports Mitt Romney is working towards an Obama win.
I’m not pimping for Romney, I honestly hate the guy. I was a Cain supporter way back when.
But. I believe Romney and Santorum have the best chance against 0 with Romney doing a little better. Even with all the negatives. Romney is better than Obama. It’s a fact, because noone is as bad as 0. I miss Hillary when I think of that man.
Mitt, Rick, Ron, Newt..... Combine them all and you have the perfect candidate, or close enough, but know this, whoever the next President is will define the direction that America goes as she must deal with the debt and entitlements or face complete collapse and bankruptcy of the currency. Obama will adopt purely socialist/communist measures to deal with the crisis which will ultimately work, for the short term anyway, but will mean we are ruled by dictatorship of government, America and her posterity will give up Freedom to save the currency. ABO will adopt purely capitalist measures to deal with the debt and that will work also but the OWS crowd will have a fit even as unemployed drops into the 4 percent range, the deficits are gone and the national debt begins to a slow tick backward. Entitlements must be addressed, it is time to tell our children that there is a better way than relying on government to care for them, we must give them the opportunity to make their own way with the same freedom and liberty that generations before left to us anything less is a dis-service and will result in the enslavement of our children and theirs. This election is not about us, we are not the ones we are waiting for, it is about our future, our children and theirs and what they will be left with, so vote like your children’s lives depend on it because that is what is at stake.
Why is it I have such a hard time believing you? I also supported Cain. I don’t particularly agree with Newt or Santorum, but at least they both understand conservatism. In our primary, I was still going to vote for Cain, but when I saw all the lies coming from Mitt’s people and all the trashing he was doing of Newt, I voted for him as the anti-Mitt candidate in our primary. If I had been in Michigan subjected to all of the Santorum trashing coming from Mitt, I would have voted for Santorum. As a conservative, I can support either Newt or Santorum. Mitt Romney is a liberal and a socialist and will never have my support. But it seems you have been convinced by the GOP-E that he can win, when nothing could be further from the truth.
Obama and the democrats have been preparing for years to run against him. They knew even before we realized that the fix was in so that Romney would win. Now it is playing out in front of our eyes, every rule change, every vote count in his favor whether he actually won or not. The democrats are ready. Occupy wall street was specifically set up as the foundation to defeating Romney.
You must be one of the misguided people in the South who have no idea about Romney’s liberal background. Once the DNC makes his liberal background known, conservatives in the South will not vote for him. How many people down in Georgia do you know would vote for a man who started gay marriage in this country, who laid out the blue print for Obamacare, who set up a program that allows people to abort their babies for free? When they start letting people know what is in the book of Mormon, you’ll see more bible belt people come out to vote against him than you can imagine.
How do you live in the South and not know any of this? I was born in the South but I lived many years in NY. When I came back down here, the first thing I learned was they don’t like Mormons and believe me I was shocked at the intensity of that dislike.
You should also know that the base of republican power is the South. Romney can’t win in the South now. What do you think will happen after the democrats trash him like he’s been trashing the conservatives in the race? The conservatives will be demoralized. The dems will be able to use Mitt’s own mouth to prove their case. Without the South, no republican can win. That is a fact. The only areas of strength Romney has is in tiny electoral states like Utah and urban areas, where he has no chance because Obama will clean up. It will be a blood bath, an electoral slaughter. The scale of the loss will make it look like Obama is one of the most beloved presidents in history.
I don’t want to see that happen. I have to wonder, why you do.

Are people happy now? In both cases we will have a rat in the white house.
valerie jarret is jewish.
Yep,sounds Jewish to me.
There are jewish iranians, infact there is even a jewish member of parliament in iran. There are also synagogues and they are allowed to practice.
Im saying this only because its hard to spot sarcasm sometimes :)
NO SHOCK: RINOs PUSH ROMNEY; MATT DRUDGE & FOX NEWS’ BILL O’RINO IN THE TANK FOR MITT
Well then Mr. Robinson will need to ZOT half of Free Republic since at least half of the folks here are supporting Santorum, not Gingrich. If one gets zotted merely for expressing opposition to Newt, then I really don’t want to be a part of Free Republic. But frankly, I think Mr. Robinson is secure enough in his choice of candidate that he can accept some criticism of him-—and like I said I doubt he really wants to lose half his contributors/readers.
