Newt Gingrich has a Gift, the ability to clearly answer questions & describe solutions to problems.
March 11, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

After watching today's Sunday News shows this morning, I was struck how gifted Newt Gingrich is in answering questions. On both Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace and on Face the Nation with Bob Sheiffer, Newt smoothly and clearly answered with substance, questions ranging from Afganistan to how to get to $2.50 per gallonn gasoline. Newt also calmly, clearly, truthfully and respectfully answered how he and Santorum differed. My conclusion is that we conservative Americans should wholeheartedly support Newt for President so we can retrieve our rightful place as citizens who can truly have our wishes listened to and implemented by a President who is engaged with the problems of everyday Americans. Newt has a gift and we Americans have a choice. Do we want our children and grandchildren to continue to be made into subjects of elite leaders or do we want to allow Newt to unleash the power of citizenship for us and for our children and grandchildren?

It’s puzzling but I don’t, really, understand why some Conservatives favor Santorum over Gingrich.

It's not that hard to figure out. Social conservatives consider him 100% committed to the causes they care about.

‘why some Conservatives favor Santorum over Gingrich.’
Because the media convinces them - by repeating Gingrich’s ‘baggage’ and burying Gingrich’s positives, while going easy on Santorum’s ‘baggage’.
While these consertvative frown on Gingrich’s ‘baggage’, they look for something that appeals to them. Santorum comes in with his saintly talks and together with the media sweep them towards his obama-like image - only this time instead of adoring a ‘messiah’, they are adoring a saint.

It is not difficult to understand why Newt didn’t stay at the top of the race, when Mitt Romney spent over 20 million dollars in Florida alone in a carpet bombing campaign against Newt that was filled with outright lies.

Cripplecreek, you cite that Newt has supported ethanol subsidies, so has Rick. How about pointing out instead Newt’s plan for Energy Independence. It is laid out step by step on his website in a 30 minute video. Part of that is getting rid of the EPA that is riddled top to bottom with radical environmentalist. Of course, it has to be replaced with a smaller, streamlined agency of common sense people as a part of our Dept. of Energy. How utterly ridiculous to think that we would have no oversight of our environment or means to implement the Energy Independence so necessary for our economy and national security.

Rick supported funding for Planned Parenthood that had abortion funding in it. His excuse? He “took one for the team”.

At least Newt admitted that his endorsement of Scozzafava was a mistake based on bad information. He even apologized to her opponent for his mistake.

Rick has never apologized for backing Arlen Specter, who turned out to be the deciding vote for Obamacare. He instead continues to defend that decision despite the fact that he lost his Senate seat by 18 points.

Newt was responsible for the landslide victory that brought Rick into the House and gave us the first Republican Congress in 40 years. He doesn’t claim to be the great conservative hope, he just Is.

CNN interviewed a white haired lady last week, who said that if God wanted Santorum to be the nominee, Santorum would be the nominee, REGARDLESS of delegates. That’s the church lady contingent. They just know Santorum home schools his kids, and stands up against Obama trying to force religious institutions to pay for contraceptives. Which is fine and good. But Newt has made the strongest logical and legal arguments about that issue, but it does not seem to matter.

Great, he goes to church, loves his Mommy, and has a nice collection of sweater vests. Woop de Woop. Santorum would be a disaster for the economy and has no clue about foreign policy. We’re gonna get stuck with this clown, and Obama will destroy him in the general.

Newt Gingrich has a Gift, the ability to clearly answer questions & describe solutions to problems.

Can't have any of that, much better to watch to that stuttering moron sweater vest turn beet red after watching a clip of himself come out against contraception because "It's a license to do things in the sexual realm that is counter to what -- how things are supposed to be".

Good thing Romney supporter Foster Freiss keeps funding good ole sweater vests campaign, at this rate Santorum will take his bizarre sideshow all the way to the convention and then release all of his delegates to the mormon bishop.

Santorum vs Gringrich....kinda like Mr Rogers vs George Patton

Maybe he skips states because he does not have the money to hit them all. It is a shame that only the wealthy or people backed by wealth can run or win elections.

The money is part of it, but that’s where I disagree with the allocation. I think you can run cheap media campaigns in places like Kansas, and then take just a handful of votes and let them be magnified by the media - and that will be a better return on the dollar than buying the media markets in Bama and Mississippi.

I said he still does. There's plenty of info out there for anyone with more curiosity than the media all it takes is some minimal searching. Here's just one example.

TPM2012 Gingrich, Backed By Ethanol Lobby, Supports Subsidy

The American voter more appreciates looks now; looks, noise and camera friendly heroics. More than a record of accomplishment and historic leadership in blowing up Democrats.

Yep - the chickification of our electorate --> looks and emotion over depth and substance.

Gingrich has an “all of the above” approach to energy that has had its major focus on drilling since he framed the issue in 2008.

The fact that ethanol is not highlighted in his 30 minute Energy Video is pretty self explanatory.

Its OK I fully expect the true believers to have methods of rescuing their faith through justification.

Incentives for flex fuel vehicles is nothing like incentives for the Volt. /s

“I wish his gift was to get votes.”

However, he does have a solution for this - For the opponents that have more delegates than him to quit the race.

If he can’t end up being president, he should heavily lobby to be vice-president. He could easily counter Romney’s weakness in the south, he could be a clear conservative voice and and an attach dog where necessary. He could wipe the floor with Biden in a debate (which would be watched more than Romney debating Obama), and best of all, he would again be the head of a legislative body. As president of the senate, he would take command of the legislative process in a body that needs fixing. And neither Reid nor McConnell, whichever is the majority leader, could do nothing about it.

If Gingrich can’t be president, Gingrich for Vice-President. Counter Romney’s weaknesses with strength, his moderation with conservatism, his executive experience with legislative experience, his politeness with pinpoint honesty, and his northeast and western support with his southern and midwestern support.
