Justice Department bars Texas voter ID law
Washington Post ^ | March 12, 2012 | By Sari Horwitz

The Justice Department has blocked a new law in Texas requiring voters to show a photo ID, saying that it disproportionately harms Hispanic residents.

The action is the second time in three months that the Obama administration has blocked a state voter ID law. In December, the Justice Department struck down South Carolina’s new law requiring photo identification at the polls, saying it discriminated against minority voters. [snip]

USJD says that the measure may disproportionately harm (keep from voting) illegal aliens as that is what it was created to do.

About the only one left today is your ‘right’ to send to DC your tax dollars.......

Interestingly enough the piece of legislation known as the Voting Rights Act was signed into law by Texan Lyndon Baines Johnson in 1965.

While I’m not a Perry fan, he would get lotsa points for treating Obama/Holder like a 2YO with a tantrum, tell them “NO!”, with ho explaination, enforce it FULLY and let the cards fall where they may with the voters.

If you are a US citizen and qualified to vote you have a TX driver’s license or some other form of official ID such as SS card etc. If you don’t have that ID you are probably an illegal alien. The DOJ knows this as well.

Illegal alien = Democratic voter

Once again, the Federal Government, created to preserve the "Blessings of Liberty," to the posterity of those who created our Federal Government, is demonstrating a bias in favor of those who have a perceived adverse interest to that posterity.

Whether this action is to protect those illegally in Texas, or is merely one more effort to create a sense of grievance among a particular ethnic group, intended to be exploited by Leftwing politicians, this interference is not right. The States were intended to have control of the suffrage, both State & Federal, within their borders. While there have been restrictions on that right, adopted by Constitutional Amendments, none of those Amendments has denied the right to require a proper form of identification.

Texas reps should write a bill to impeach Holder and then go on every TV station and radio program and scream that this is violating states rights.

I would make this a campaign issue in a heartbeat. The usurper in chief has got to go.

or some other form of official ID such as SS card etc.

But that isn't a 'photo ID' which was being put into place.

2. What kind of identification will be required to qualify to vote in person under the new program?

A: A voter will be required to show one of the following forms of photo identification at the polling location before the voter will be permitted to cast a vote.

With the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the identification must be current or have expired no more than 60 days before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place.

The U.S. Justice Department is using its power under the Voting Rights Act to halt the Texas law, saying in a letter to the state today that the measure may disproportionately harm Hispanics.

Okay. WHY?
Is the Federal Government claiming that Hispanics are incompetent? That they lack the knowledge or abilities needed to acquire the proper ID?
Are they claiming that Hispanics don’t drive, don’t work, don’t buy houses, don’t rent apartments and hundreds of other daily activities that require photo ID?

I want to see a state file an emergency appeal to the USSC to define the actual meaning of “All men are created equal” based on the critical need to have the vote issues settled prior to the election. Either a Black man/white man/hispanic man are equal or some are less than which is not Constitutional. Period.

Such would in turn address many leftist wedges.

Addition:

If a White man has access to photo ID and a hispanic man does not, then clearly the white man has an unfair advantage on the poor ID-less hispanic. This is clearly unjust and MUST be setteled IMMEADIATELY so as not to violate the constitutional rights of the poor downtrodden other that privleged white man.

Congress passed a 25-year extension of the voting rights act, signed into law by George W. Bush in 2006. That means, unless repealed, this monstrosity will be around until 2031, and radical jackwagons like Eric Holder can set aside redistricting plans, voter ID requirements, and just about anything else they want to by declaring it might dilute minority rights.

Not to worry, though—by 2030 whites may be a minority and then could have 1 year to claim discrimnation under the law before congress would let it expire as no longer needed.

We need to start a legal effort to prove poor and minority voters are disproportionately victimized by voter fraud since the democrats are so apt to use their identities in voter fraud.

Just look at the voter fraud case in upstate New York. They were targeting the disabled, immigrants, and the poor.

Joe died at 48 years old in 1957, that was just 2 years after Edward R. Murrow assassinated Joe’s career and person. That put an end to shining a spotlight on the infiltration of the communists.

He was best friends with Joe and John Kennedy. Both were very anti-communist. Five years after Tail Gunner Joe died of liver failure, JFK was assassinated. I think that was the event that marked the end of the Democratic party as a legitimate constitutionally based party.

Shortly thereafter LBJ took their first step toward socialism and communism with his “Great Society” or “Great Socialism Plan”.

Another example of concern about GW’s intelligence and his ability to make critical decisions. Sorry I ever voted for him as gov of Texas in the first place.

I was a huge, huge fan of his at one time but his sheer inability to pick up the veto pen shows his lack of resolve.

This SHOULD BE THE ISSUE on which liberalism itself is exposed as the fraud it has always been, and should make the Democratic Party a laughing stock.

I am dumbfounded that liberals aren’t embarrassed to make the argument they are making, and I’m even more astounded a majority of the American public seems to be buying their argument.

We are DOOMED!

Hell, LBJ just screwed with the election results the old-fashioned way. Here is Wikipedia's brief description of a three-volume examination of LBJ's career by Robert Caro (a forth volume to be released this year):
The Years of Lyndon Johnson

Caro's books portray Johnson as alternating between scheming opportunist and visionary progressive. Caro argued, for example, that Johnson's victory in the 1948 runoff for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate was achieved through extensive fraud and ballot stuffing.

Exactly. Here in GA you have to show ID to buy wine or beer at the grocery store no matter how old you look. I’ve seen the cashiers turn illegals down because they didn’t have ID.
