Unions Plan to Spend $400 Million to Reelect Obama
fox ^ | 3/12/12 | Washington Free Beacon Staff

The AFL-CIO will formally endorse Obama on Tuesday, as it kicks off a campaign sending 400,00 union members door to door to encourage voters to support the president’s reelection bid. Labor leaders say their efforts are to counteract the political power of Super PACs. They also will commit $400 million to the campaign.

The New York Times reports:

With numerous super PACs expected to broadcast a flood of TV spots in support of the Republican nominee, the Obama campaign is looking to organized labor to play a major role in offsetting that. Labor leaders say they expect unions to spend $400 million this year on national, state and local elections — including $100 million by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees — but they say their ground troops, not money, is labor’s signal contribution.

Money won’t be that important in the Nov POTUS race.

Basically Ohio, Florida, Penn, NC and Va are going to decide it.

Baraq’s billion was a big deal in 08 because he was a ghost.

Now we’re voting on his 4 years of failure.

That money buys a lot of uneducated and uninterested votes. Plus the Obamamedia will be praising him 24/7. Doesn’t look good despite his complete failure. Especially if Romney is the nominee.

“...his 4 years of failure.”

Let’s just hope and pray that at least 20%+ of the idiotic 52% who voted him in, see it that way. If they don’t, we’re screwed royally as a Nation. 4 more years of that POS will end America, as we’ve known it, for good.

This should be illegal. Unions represent less than 10% of the people and yet they are a huge player in setting the agenda and getting people elected. Too much unchecked power. We need to get rid of unions. There is no good reason to have them nor was there ever a good reason.

$400 million to reelect the Communist in Chief from the unions but at the same time they scream loudly that we need to get “corporate money” out of politics.

As more states like Indiana become right-to-work states, unions see their dues dropping off dramatically.

Unions are funding David Brock and Media Matters which is directly strategizing with the WH to hold onto union power.

Meanwhile, the GOP candidate will not be beholden to public funds this time like McCain was and polls show women are not buying into this Fluke circus.

The Dems are fast losing this thing.

I guess it doesn’t matter which pension account(s) actually gets tapped for this, as they’ll surely be pbg backed.

Many, however not all, union members are mind numb robots. The union man tells them who to vote for and they march in lockstep to the polling booth. There are some union members who do think for themselves - to them, I applaud their independence from their union leaders.

Good point. For me, the GM/Chrysler bailout was the end of my ever owning another such vehicle. Now with this BS, I’m reconsidering my recent pledge of ‘Ford or Foreign’. It looks like it may have to be Foreign only.

You are 100% correct, and I have a personal anecdote as an example.

I live in south TX and my brother lives in MI and used to work for the Teamsters. About 15 years ago I was having a telephone conversation with my democrat-voting union-supporting brother and we started to discuss politics.
He actually stated that he HAD TO VOTE DEMOCRAT because his union told him to.

I was astonished and could not believe that he was so brainwashed. I told him that he could vote any damn way he pleased once he walked into the voting booth and he responded with all the lib talking points like a robot.

Long story short, he now votes the right way and is no longer working for a union shop.
He is like an ex-smoker hating the smell of smoke -- He refuses to work with or associate with any liberal and will not tolerate their BS when he runs into one.
