Senator Barack Obama ( Illinois ) – Often cited as one of the top presidential contenders. Barack Obama has an abysmal record on ANWR voting on the Cantwell Amendment in 2005 to lock it up. He has been opposed to exploration and has rallied with Sen. Clinton in that regard numerous times. Barack states, "I strongly reject drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge because it would irreversibly damage a protected national wildlife refuge without creating sufficient oil supplies to meaningfully affect the global market price or have a discernable impact on U.S. energy security.”

ANWR would be producing oil today had Senator Obama and his cadres not opposed it seven years ago.

Suggestion: Congress should to rename the Arctic Wildlife Refuge something like: The Arctic Natural Resource Reserve.

Just having the name "wild life" in the title is enough to send liberal dweebs into a fit. "Oh no! They want to dump OIL on the poor polar bears and those cute penguins!"

It would sound better as a polling question: If it can be done safely, do you think we should drill for oil in the Arctic National Resource Reserve or would you rather not drill and choose higher gas prices instead?"

Notice the penguin (in the arctic).
