Tea partiers will vote for ‘whoever’ GOP nominee ‘turns out to be’, says tea party scholar

Just because the tea party hasn’t been as noisy this election cycle doesn’t mean it won’t be a force come November, says Elizabeth Price Foley, author of “The Tea Party: Three Principles.”

“When it comes to the presidential contest, I think the tea partiers will turn up in droves,” she told The Daily Caller.

“They aren’t rallying in the street anymore — I think they’ve been there, done that, so they appear to be quieter. But tea party chapters are still alive and vigorous, and they are just chomping at the bit to pull a lever in November.”

What’s more, says Foley, is that tea partiers will ultimately rally behind whomever the GOP nominee turns out to be.

“And frankly, I think many tea partiers are eager to pull the lever in favor of the Republican presidential nominee — whoever that turns out to be — simply because, from their perspective, that person’s policies will be clearly preferable to those of President Obama,” she said.

Foley is the rarest of species: a tea party academic. A law professor at Florida International University and chair in constitutional litigation for the Institute of Justice, Foley says many of her liberal colleagues didn’t receive her pro-tea party book too well.

It is time for us to change the country in continually small ways.

“jerkoffs”?

I’m going to give a lot of weight to whatever the owner recommends in about 7 months. The last I heard, he’d rather chew sand then support Mittens.

Because as far as I’m concerned, being asked to choose between Romney and Obama is like being told you will date Rosie O’Donut or Janeane Buffalobutt. Or for shemale freepers, Michael Moore or Bill Maher.

If this “Teaparty academic” thinks conservatives are prepared now to vote in droves for Romney, she’s confused us with some other group, cats maybe—they’re easy to herd also, or maybe she’s smoking bath salts.

Come November I don’t give a GD who our candidate is, I will be voting for him, and do everything I can to send that disrespectful America-hating A-hole back to Chicago

That is the Prime Directive

I think Romney is weak. He will go along with Congress.

Let him have some of the credit, so he gets some of the glory. I don’t view him as hostile necessarily.

But even if I was wrong, he would still have to contend with a strong Congress. If that’s what is sent.

Get enough of those small violins together and we’ll have an orchestra. :)

A tinny-sounding one, but one never the less.

Hannity just aired a clip where Romney mentioned being a leader means you have to "bring people together." Unfortunately we can be sure for Mitt that means putting the Democrats and RINOs in a room and leaving the conservatives in the doghouse.

"Tea Party scholar? What the heck is that?"

Sounds like the TEA party version of an elitist to me. Or could be a GOP-E infiltrator.

I think Romney is weak. He will go along with Congress.

So Romney can start slow by passing legislation championed by the Democrats and the "gang of 666," and then really get moving if and when Democrats retake the Congress in 2014.

Yep if Mitt gets the GOP nod I’ll back the party in November and vote the party pick. The Constitution Party that is.

Once again the establishment expects conservatives to hold their noses and vote for their “me to” or “dem lite” candidate. I think that is a serious miss-read by the party.

If we don’t give up the fight, they won’t retake congress.

Just understand, this won’t be a one time thing. It took a couple of generations to get to where we are. It will take a couple of generations to repair.

But it can be done.

Not if someone like Romney went the same way as McCain. McCain was flat coming out of the gate and never excited anyone. His nominating speech at the convention was lower key than any preceding him. Based in those speeches I would have voted for any of the others over McCain.

I don’t like Mittens at all. If he gets the nomination, I will still vote for him. Sitting this one out or voting 3rd Party gives this election to The Regime. Its a non-starter. I don’t like our choices but we won’t have a country if Zero gets four more years. The next POTUS will make two, maybe three appointments to The Supremes. Look at the two Dear Leader has already given us.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if the Republicans took the Senate by a considerable margin, the House by a very bog one,and still lost the presidency. Now way could Boehner handle a majority as large as the one that the Democrats had in 1975-76. He would be torn apart in caucus. If he wins, though, Obama will try to rule by executive order. If the House majority were big enough, we might have a constitutional crisis.
