I might add, on a national level, they cannot really pull an “Arlen Spector” move. So they will have to resort to controlled media pressure.

“Santorum is a flawed and pious little fraud.”

And then some.

I watch his speech tonight. He was horrible and used another one of Newt’s lines.

Obama would have a party with this lightweight.

I saw that in your post history. With as many “I’d rather vote for Romney/stay home, than for Santorum” comments as I have seen lately, your post actually gives me some hope. I have been in the other camp all too often, the dejection that who I considered the best man was losing. It is not easy to keep your cool.

(Yes, I know my posting history is not immaculate. Far from it.)

Right. Newt is staying in all the way to the convention and God speed.

At the moment, in Mississippi, Santorum and Gingrich both have 31% and 202 votes separate them, but the state, ( I live here ) has been called for Santorum with 93% of precincts reporting.

.

When I voted in suburn of Huntsville this morning, the talk in the voting line at 7:00 was people are SICK of the politicians. Don’t trust Romney at all. Hence, the Santorum win.

I agree with your every word.

I so wish I could be a delegate for Newt.

I’m afraid others won’t hold their ground.

Same here. The Romulan came in THIRD - and here people are attacking Rick Santorum because - horror of horrors! - he’s a man of Christian faith.

Only 202 votes with 93% of the votes counted? In other words, Gingrich could pull it out?

I’m thrilled that EVERYONE is staying in for now. Believe me, you do NOT want a choice between Romney and Paul, like we had here in Virginia. It was like eating cardboard.

More time for Newt and Rick to get out the goods ...

Would like to see some more spontaneous debates pop up as well.

At least someone is now admitting that the whole "delegate math" business was just another ruse.

As per norm, Charles, your lost in the weeds. I said don't hold on because of the math, or the delegate count, hold on because you trust Newt, you trust his solutions, you trust his ability to grab DC by its backside and change it, because you trust he will do what he says he will do. And if you believe all those things about Newt, then keep believing them. no matter what the media says in the coming days, and stand with him when he says we are going to Tampa.

I am quite aware of Newt's religion, thank you, Charles. Santorum practices some kind of self-righteous, judgmental I'm-better-than-you-because-I-never-cheated-on-my-wife faith... the only problem with Sanctimonium's faith, that's not how Jesus Christ views Newt.

The reason that I want a brokered convention is too shine the light on the scum of party politics in the GOP...a play by play of soul-selling...similar to how the giant bills in Congress get passed

And you MUST know that I will vote for Newt if he is the nominee....NO QUESTION! Now the reason I want Santorum is because we have never had a candidate quite like him before. He is a social conservative who has a great fiscal record too (I didn’t say perfect). This would be the first time we get a social conservative first. Reagan was not necessarily a social conservative. I would say he was more fiscal conservative but definitely found social issues important. It would just be so interesting to see how much we could clean up the morals of the country. We are a mess. Do you think for a moment that Abortion would have been passed had Santorum been President back in the late 60’s early 70’s...No way because he would have put conservative Supreme Court members. That is why I think having Santorum would be incredible.

With Rick chewing on his left foot every other day, it is a relief to know that Newt is going nowhere, but will stay in. Santorum is fodder for implosion and now that he is winning he will finally get some vetting thrown his way for a change and it will be out loud and forceful.

Rick supporters will find no sympathy from me, and I very much appreciate your astute observation that Newt knows this game like the back of his hand. I just DO NOT and CAN NOT believe he won’t make a huge difference during this primary.

Great post, and thanks.

I didn’t say I’d stay home. I’ll write in a worthy candidate because I’m an American. Santorum CAN’T win. Like I said, we had a chance and the idiots of this nation care more about hair than they do the damn country. If you really cared about the price of gas you’d want Newt to win. Even if Santorum managed to win against Obama (lol) he would be completely ineffective. But hey, keep dreaming.

Having said that, I smell no shortage of “sour grapes” on this thread, and some of the most ridiculous, mentally-kamikaze type desperate comments I’ve heard on FR in a long time. Really, time for some people to just step back and handle their losses, process them a little more circumspectly.

watching CSPAN online

Major Garrett called in and talked about Romney...

Romney is in NY raising money..

he said he was so surprized that Romney didnt win Tennessee...

after all TN was an old Confederate state and Romney should have done well in the old Confederate states

Im going WHAT ???

Major is as ignorant as his hero Romney...

TN wasnt an Old Confederate state

TN was part Union ..

The Union army was in Nashville early in the war and never left

My county was Union and so were a few others...

I wonder if Major eats grits and can say y’all ...

Though the old slave state going for Romney would fit for obvious reasons if David Duke types run them all..

AHHHHH! So THAT'S why people are so angry toward Rick! The truth is coming out...

Let me ask you something - and I'm dead serious: Should infidelity be a prerequisite for elected office?

Think about it.

I agree with you, and will offer that the mindset somewhat reminds me of the story in Luke about the Pharisee and the Prostitute, your thoughts?

It doesn’t, but if Santorum or Romney becomes the nominee, Obama wins that very day.
