What they call "in numbers", we Americans call a "target-rich environment."

Lazmataz is right.
Amir knows that people in Europe are afraid of Muslims for many reasons, some of them justified. You don't want to take those people on without being ready to defend yourself from radical Islamofascists willing to put talk into action, as well as much larger numbers of people who think yelling and screaming and protesting is an act of righteous service to Allah. The result is that critics of Islam censor their own words to avoid fights.
What works in Europe won't work here, at least not yet. The first time a Muslim Jihadist kills a right-wing American politician or conservative American preacher for his “hate speech” against Islam — and that is a real possibility — we'll see Americans routinely armed and ready to fight back.
This is one of the very few issues that can unite people across most of the political spectrum, and it's an example of where the honest liberals who value free speech can be helpful in defending American values in the courts and the press while we defend them with blunter methods such as people with CCW permits volunteering to escort county commissioners, state legislators, and others who may become targets of Islamic radicals.
Islamofascist intimidation only works if people actually fear the Islamofascists. A well-concealed gun won't solve every problem, but it does wonders at striking fear into the hearts of people who use fear as an intimidation tactic.
As President Obama likes to say, “if they bring a knife to a fight, we bring a gun.”
Hey, even Obama is right sometimes!
