Limbaugh: Don't Buy the CW on a Brokered Convention
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 3/14/2012 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 03/14/2012 3:58:02 PM PDT by GVnana

RUSH: ...Back on January 23rd, there was a lot of panic on the Republican side, 'cause Romney just wasn't wrapping this up.

-snip-

RUSH ARCHIVE: Why is it that a long primary campaign is going to hurt the Republican nominee? If the result of a long campaign is that this party finally figures out that the only way they got to win this is conservatism, it's a win-win. Let it play out! Don't panic!

RUSH: ... Still, the most delegates yesterday were won by Mitt Romney. He added six delegates to his lead. The delegates count today: Romney has 495. Remember, now, 1144 are needed to nominate. Romney has 495 delegates. Santorum moved up to 252. Gingrich at 131. And Ron Paul, the other guy, is at 48. Newt has a strategy.

-snip-

"'I emphasize going to Tampa because one of the things tonight proved is that the elite media’s effort to convince the nation that Mitt Romney is inevitable has just collapsed.'"

Now, for whatever reason, Mitt Romney remains in Newt's crosshairs...

-snip-

And a lot of people on the other side of that are looking at Santorum and saying (chuckling), "I can't believe it. One of these two guys is going up against Obama?"

-snip-

Tea Party Americans, other Americans were simply angry and outraged over what was being done to their country, and nothing's changed. And they're going to want to change that. And I maintain to you that that's what this election is going to be about. So Newt (back to him), his objective here is to deny the nomination to Romney at the convention and then throw it wide open.

-snip-

RUSH: By the way, folks, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the product of a brokered convention... Conventions used to always be brokered.

"his objective here is to deny the nomination to Romney at the convention and then throw it wide open."

Not to be PC, but I prefer to think of it as a "contested convention." It has a better ring to it. I don't want any "Brokers" wheelin an dealin cause we's broker than we've ever been anyways, right?

I think a brokered convention resulting in a nominee other than the current field would be awesome. For the last year or so the socialists have been constructing dirt on the field currently running. A dark horse would throw them into an absolute frenzy.

With as many winner-take-all primaries as we have coming up, that is an idiotic strategy.

It’s Santorum or Romney, and Romney has a 10-1 advantage.

Yeah but... Who's gonna "vet" the dude or dudette on the white horse??? For instance, what if the N.J. Governor finally changes his mind? That dude is NOT conservative just because he's got a big mouth and simply made a speech at the Reagan Library!!!

Of course that was good enough for Nancy Reagan and a hord of infatuated and frightened people in the audience. I can still remember them scraping, bowing and begging him to run and thank goodness he restrained his crap & trade/global warming self!!!

I maintain that the election can be distilled down to the choice between life and death that the Almighty tends put before people every so often.

If we fail the test, I figure we're done. We're as good as done now.

You mean someone who did not fight the hard fight of primaries is going to be nominated in a broken convention? At some point the delusions have to stop with the fans/sycophants of this particular person but apparently it never stop... Pathetic, very pathetic.

Explain to me why OBummer would waste one minute on the current non-debate format, arguing in consecutive sound bites with Levin, Gingrich or anyone else???

He knows far better than to try that and his advisors will tell him not to dignify any of our guys and gals with the honor of arguing with what to his warped mind is the greatest POTUS of all time (echo) of all time (echo) of all time...

Your emotional need to see Obama bich-slapped silly in front of the nation for what he's done by anyone in oppostion just isn't going to happen!!! Sorry...

Yeah, but, Sierra. Obama is already answering Gingrich on a weekly basis. And he just put out an ad attacking Sarah Palin.

Palin has now challenged Obama to a debate. (Looks like Obama stepped in that one!)The one guy who puts Obama on the ropes and Romney and Santorum have done everything possible to marginalize him by refusing to debate. Between the two of them, it's like watching a cannibal feast on the dead body politic.

“It’s Santorum or Romney, and Romney has a 10-1 advantage.”

I respect your opinion a great deal, but in what way does Romney have a 10-1 advantage?

Please, for my own edification, explain that.

Gingrich’s delegates have to figure into the equation somewhere, and Mitt has many who are not bound delegates.

Whater you gonna do? Prod them Repellicans with yer danged pitchfork? Do you have a 3 tine, or a 4 tine? Remember, the 3 tine is fer pitchin hay and the 4 tine for pitchin manure! The 2 tine is strictly fer pitichin woo by the light of the silvery moon, don'tcha know?

Hay, purdy lady, I've gained such girth that nobody kin git over me anymore. I've done lost my waspish waist. Today is the first day of my Dr. Scarsdale diet. Mebee I kin waste this woppin waist line into shape purdy soon. I watched hundereds of "Biggest Loser" episodes but it didn't help.

But like I said, Obomber doesn't have to accept ANY debate challenges from ANYBODY whether they have a waistline like Newt's and mine. At least it's not as big as Christie's!!!
