Senate leaders Reid, McConnell strike deal on judicial nominees

Senate leaders on Wednesday reached an agreement on a group of President Obama’s judicial nominees, avoiding a showdown that could have brought the chamber to standstill.

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) cancelled cloture votes on 17 of Obama's nominees set to begin on Wednesday afternoon after reaching the deal with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Under the agreement, the Senate will put 14 of the 17 judicial nominees up for a vote by May 7th at a pace of two per week, according to a Senate Democratic aide.

"Which is great because we've been averaging one nomination a week," the aide said.

McConnell claimed some victory, noting that as part of the agreement, the Senate would turn next to the JOBS Act that was passed by the House last week. Senate Republicans have been pushing for action on the bill, but Reid said the judicial nominees needed to be dealt with first.

The R senators who do not uphold a filibuster on this must be held accountable! They must be made aware of the peril of allowing Obama to appoint even a dog catcher. The senate needs 60 votes to move for a vote so what 6 R senators have to sign off on this debacle. Let them know their donations will dry up and each and every one will be primaried next time the face the voters. We can not fix America with the Lilly-livered, spineless guppies that masquerade as R senators.

When the hell has Reid ever honored some back side of a deal, or any deal? Either McConnell is complicit (and)/or a total idiot.

We are screwed.

McConnell isn’t even a RINO anymore, he’s gone full blown (D).

Mitch needs to be put on the same list with Lugar, Hatch, Snowe, Collins and the rest of the GOP’s Rino trash...what an incredible dumb ass.

"what 6 R senators have to sign off on this debacle?"

HINT: Snowe, Collins, Pansy Graham, McLame, Brown, and another to-be-named-later.

Never. We are screwed. It just makes me wonder some days, they have to be in on it I think? They are so unattached to the rest of the country living in the small world of elite politicians.

It is only a minority that wants this country to be over. It is just sickening to watch.

“Either McConnell is complicit (and)/or a total idiot.”

Kevin DeJun at Hillbuzz has repeatedly stated that the GOP needs to stop putting closeted gays into leadership positions because they are so open to blackmail it’s not even funny. Mark Kirk and Lindsey Graham are two obviously reliable votes for the Democratic agenda but I am really starting to wonder about McConnell in the Senate and Boehner in the House.....they seem to give in EVERY single time!

I just completely give up on Senate Republicans. They`re worthless... this is why settling for majority status in the Senate, vs the Presidency is a failed idea. There`s just no trusting them.

McConnell will make the same “deal” when Obama makes his next SCOTUS nomination.

Utter lightweights. The Stupid Party Senators could have made hay about Harry Dirtbag holding up a so-called jobs bill vote.

Instead they roll over again.

So McConnell gives Reid a filet mignon and a lobster tail in return for a pat on the head. I swear, what drives McConnell? Does he care about anything other than feathering his own nest?

If anybody needs a reason to vote for Newt, this is it! He’s the ONLY one who voiced the need to remove activist, anti-Consitution judges and I think it scared the others.
