Romney: Conservatives Who Don't Like Me Now Will Learn To When I'm The Nominee (video)

Mitt Romney talks to FOX News' Megyn Kelly about attracting support from conservative voters.

"When you ask in these prior elections, 'who as conservatives did you vote?,' I won the conservative vote. Some who are very conservative may not yet be in my camp, but they will be when I become the nominee, when I face Barack Obama. Because again, what the nation wants is someone who understands the economy, not, if you will, an economy lightweight. I mean, Senator Santorum is a nice guy but he does not understand how the economy works. He's never had a job in the real economy. You have to understand this economy in order to fix it," he said.

I will respect the “no cursing” rule here.

No way through the end of eternity will I EVER vote for Romney. There is no “holding of the nose”. Ain’t gonna happen. I will not vote the enemy into my camp.

I guess you would rather have another 4 years of Obama?

Would you be so good as to describe (using Romney's record) the major differences between Romney & Obama?

If you can advocate for Romney, certainly you can defend your choice, right?

Don't bluster and tell us that "it's obvious".

Don't tell us what Romney says.

Tell us all, in plain language, what Romney has done that is vastly different from Obama's positions.

Thanks.

Sounds like Romney is projecting his lack of decisiveness and conservative principles on to the GOP base.

I hate to say it, but *anyone* to get rid of Obummer&Co. I’d even “vote for an orange juice can”; we can deal with the can, later on.

ObamaCare must go. The Supreme Court can't have another pagan Kagan. There will not be any choice but the vote for the (R) whomever. Elections in the past gave us some wiggle room. There is none now. I voted 3rd party twice. No way - no how this next go around.

If I lived in a swing state, I’d vote for whoever the nominee is. But since I live in a solidly red state, it isn’t really necessary for me.

I can’t actively support a Santorum nor Romney candidacy, simply because their values and world views are asynchronous with my own. Whereas I could pour my heart into a Newt candidacy.

That being said, I think Santorum is the weakest of them all for purposes of evicting our radical Kenyan infiltrator from the White House. I just don’t see how someone running on a family values moral agenda schtick is going to effectively mobilize a majority of the electorate to vote in his favor.

If there had ever been any chance of me holding my nose and voting for this {deleted}, it evaporated with that statement.

Thanks for clearing up that moment of uncertainty for me, Mitt.

Most will vote for him. Or against Obama, who is the real villan in this little drama. Along with his henchmen Pelosi, Reed, Schumer, Bill & Hillary and that ugly, detestable FL woman with the three names.....Schultz.

The problem may not necessarily be the conservatives who vote third party or don’t wote for president at all. Although that will be a significant drag on Romney if he is the nominee.

The bigger problem seems to be Romney’s flip-flops on abortion, gay rights, and especially Obamacare. There is simply no plausible way to justify Romney’s support in Massachusetts of a state plan AND his touting that plan as a model for the nation.

When repeal is a very strong issue for the Republicans, how on Earth can they contemplate nominating someone with that record? Is there any other nationally prominent Republican who was MORE supportive of the President’s plan, rhetorically at least? I can’t think of one, unless Arlen Specter is counted. But he switched parties.

What credible answer will Romney have in the debates on this issue? (Or will it sound like Ralph Kramden’s “humina humina humina” answer when his wife caught him in one of his schemes?) And how long will it take for Democrats to say that the Republicans just want to replace Obama with a white guy, and there are no huge differences on policy?

Yeah, Romney’s a winner all right - conservatives will love him, and moderates will flock to him because he’s so different from Obama.

And if Romney treats the people he wants to support him so condescendingly now, how the h*ll will he act once he’s in office???!!!

Hello, Republican establishment, are you listening? Bueller? Bueller?

I apologize if this message is too pessimistic, but really what else can be said? I am doing what I can to help get a conservative nominated.

PS It is ironic to me that the choice in November might come down to they guy sho SUPPORTED the personal mandate in the past (Romney) and the guy who ran AGAINST the personal mandate in the 2008 primaries (Obama). It’s hard for me to be optimistic about the future sometimes.

You just keep telling yourself that, Mitt.

Let me be clear: It'll be that proverbial "cold day in Hell" when I vote for Mitt Romney. He's a ghoul and a monster with regard to abortion. He's a liar where it comes to the second amendment. Literally, it will never happen.

I don't vote for people who try to one-up their opponents where it comes to abortion advocacy.

More Democrats will actually vote for Romney in the general than conservatives will.....Romney certainly will get significant cross-over vote from Centrist Dems, but it won’t nearly be enough.

Clinton is more conservative than Mittens, and a lot more likable.

Do your soul a favor and write in Sarah Palin.
