It sounds as if the police made some serious mistakes here.

Police also said that the officers "repeatedly identified themselves as law enforcement officers."

Anders Brievik did that as well. Doesn't mean squat.

Another example of cops always telling the truth.

In a release this afternoon, Portland police said three members of the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team were involved in the shooting: one Hillsboro police officer and two Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

While Sgt. Pete Simpson said early today "there was an exchange of gunfire,'' police said later this afternoon that detectives have not determined if Flores-Haro fired any shots at police. Police also said that the officers "repeatedly identified themselves as law enforcement officers.''

Press criminal charges. A short list off the top of my head...

  1. Illegal entry
  2. Trespassing
  3. Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
  4. Assault and battery with intent to kill
  5. Attempted murder in the 2nd Degree
  6. Deprivation of Civil Rights under color of law. Namely violating 4th Amendment
  7. Assault with a deadly weapon
  8. false imprisonment/arrest
  9. giving false statements
  10. conspiracy to cover up a felony

I'm sure I'm missing a few...

Sometimes, I wonder if it would simply be easier for a SWAT officer to dress up like a pest inspector or electrician and make the arrest under guile instead of the typical siege mentality.

Police later in the night did serve a search warrant at a home just doors down from Flores' house on North Woolsey Avenue, and arrested Anthony Bagsby, 20, and Cocoa Tapli, 16, who face accusations of attempted aggravated murder in connection with a Sunday night gang-related shooting and robbery on North Woolsey Avenue.

Cost to nail someone for almost murder? Almost murdering someone uninvolved. In a sane world the officers, if it can be shown they were running around on his lawn, would be charged with armed trespass and aggravated assault... as a start.

That would require work, talent, skill, and logic. Plus, you don’t get to play dress-up with all the mil-surp toys the Feds through your way.

Anybody wonder why a lot of people have lost respect for police these days?

That would be a nice start. In reality we are going to get ‘cleared of wrong doing by an internal panel’. And once again we the peasants will not have ANY say in the matter.

My Dad was a County Deputy until he retired. Still does Range Master work.

Even he thinks LEO’s as a breed have jumped the shark on a lot of this crap...

The police appear to be pretty much out of control in many places.

Thats a better description than the one I first though. And the boot lickers will be here shortly.

"he thought intruders were on his property"

From this account, it's apparent that intruders were on his property. This particular species happened to wear badges, which in their minds grant them immunity from such petty considerations as trespassing and the like.

As well as exoneration if they happen to shoot you.
