Next up would be to make the quarter out of plastic...

Way, way too expensive... considering the petroleum involved. They'll go one even better: The next quarter (and dime, nickle, $5, $10, etc) will be made out of bits. This will enable the Federal Mint to go into overdrive "printing" new bits of money.

Yep, it is there, but they are trying to hide it.

They are afraid we will disapprove. They are right.

How many times do we have to go through this?

Only once if they would just quit printing paper dollar bills. Until they do that people will not carry them, no matter how many ugly women they put on them.

[ I don’t have as much problem with where the words are located as I do with WHY IS THERE A COIN FOR THEM TO BE LOCATED ON AT ALL!!

How many times do we have to go through this? How many million of the previous dollar coins are sitting around in government wharehouses?

People DON’T WANT a dollar coin. Why can’t those fools in Washington get it through their thick heads. ]

Heck they whine about how much money it takes to make the Dollar bill, I wouldn;t put it past this administration to outsource the production of Dollar Bills to China....

One Idea I haven’t seen as an alternative for a Dollar Bill would be a “Plastic Dollar Chit”. This would be like a dollar bill but made out of flexible and would be smaller than a Dollar bill but the same width or slightly less in width of a Dollar bill. You could even make it the same size as a credit card to make it compatible with current wallets. Basically easier to carry than either a Dollar bill or a coin.

Of course we chould just move the Dollar Bills to be made from plastic like australlia and that would increase the lifetime of the Dollar bill which would reduce costs, knowing the eco-weenies they would probably demand that these be made from biodegradable corn platics that would cause them to degrade faster than current dollar bills.....

Coins won;t take over the dollar spot in this day and age because:

1. Coins are heavy
2. No one carried coin purses anymore
3. Vending machines and toll booths now take bills.
4. The value of our money is down so if you want to carry any large amount of money around as coins you are going to need a LOT more space...

.....As part of the Obama Administration’s Campaign to Cut Waste, Vice President Biden today announced the U.S. Mint would suspend the production of Presidential dollar coins for circulation. Today, nearly 1.4 billion surplus dollar coins are sitting in Federal Reserve vaults due to lack of demand for the coins.

I’ll take them off the fed’s hands....

In 2007 some were minted without the motto by mistake

It was not mistake, it was deceitfully purposeful. They only decided it was a mistake after the people became outraged, then it was a mistake.

I think the average American doesn’t even grasp what American culture is about, or what liberty means.

There's no such thing as the "average American." Not anymore.

That’s a very striking Caesarian image of Obama.

I believe they’re saving it for the new three dollar bill.

From a financial standpoint, a coin makes far more sense, as the average life of a dollar bill is measured in months.

The problem is that they leave the dollar bill in circulation when they release these dollar coins.

First of all, design a coin that is easily distinguishable from a quarter. Second, stop printing bills and remove them from circulation when the new coins are put into circulation.

But the biggest issue will be refitting all the vending machines already out there to accept the new coins.

Until they do that, dollar coins will be little more than collector pieces.

Why should we mock God by putting this lie on our money?

We OBVIOUSLY not only do not trust Him but we scorn and mock Him at every turn.

The English one pound coin is actually pretty convenient. Of course, they made it gold with a variegated edge, and slightly thicker than the similar coins. It's easy to tell what you're fishing out of your pocket without looking at it. It's kind of nice to be able to purchase small items without having to dig out your wallet each time.

True. In my head, I put quotes around “by mistake.”

Hey I remember paper and aluminum mills(worthless as a Missouri Mill) they made great washers to seal leaks on those porcelan pans we always seemed to have a leak in.

When you get down to it, there are really only 10 kinds of people. Those that get binary... and those that don't.
