If Romney pulled out of the race ... Gingrich would be the nominee.

That does not seem to make sense from what I am seeing. What is your reasoning? Perhaps I have missed something.

That is their unrealistic wish. They believe that Newt can beat Santorum even though Santorum beat the crap out of Newt in MS and AL.

A two man race between Santorum and Gingrich pits a social conservative against a fiscal conservative. The populous has been decrying for years "it's the economy, stupid" and "taxed enough already". These are good folks having this motivation. Add to their number the majority of Romney's lemmings, should he leave the race, as they will likely put themselves on the side of "money" rather than the side of "God". I love a God-fearing trustworthy man like Santorum for POTUS. But combining those who feel the economy is talking point number one and those who simply love money, makes an uphill battle for him all the way.
