Skip to comments.Atheists use 'Unholy' Water to 'Unbless' Highway

Now I've heard it all! Frustrated by the fact that religious leaders blessed a portion of highway in Florida, a group of atheists decided to "unbless" the road. Armed with scrubbers and a large container of "unholy" water, the group sought to wash away the work done by the Polk County organization known as Polk Under Prayer.
According to a story by Bay News 9, "Representatives from various atheist groups in the area scrubbed the road at the Pasco-Polk county line. They were figuratively removing holy oil that had been put on the road last year by a group of area religious leaders."
And what is the beef the atheists have with the blessing? According to the news report, the blessing makes them feel "unwelcome:"
"It sends a very bad signal to everyone in Polk County, and (anyone) who travels through Polk county who doesn't happen to be Christian," Palmer said, "This event is not about atheist rights; this is about welcoming everybody into Polk county."
Excuse me? I'm pretty sure there wasn't a sign placed on the road that read, "Atheists stay out!"
Fox News quotes Glen Copple who is an "an associate pastor at Northside Christian Church in Lakeland" as saying the "cleanup" was "a 'ludicrous' event that solely sought publicity."
Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, said the Humanists of Florida "acted in the grand tradition" of atheist groups by going negative.
"Having no positive statement to make, it wants to obliterate speech it disagrees with," Donohue wrote in a statement to FoxNews.com. "While the atheists are within their legal rights to attack the Christian message, it shows once again their proclivity to intolerance. Bullying is what defines them."
Here's something to consider... If a group of devil worshipers decided to "unbless" a highway using a large container of "unholy" water, I can kind of see some logic in that. But atheists do not believe in God. Thus, it's only reasonable to assume that they don't believe in "blessings." After all, how can a non-existant entity do ANYTHING? So, if the highway was not truly blessed, how can they "unbless" it? Doesn't that imply that they have some supernatural power granted by some supreme being?
You can't unbless something that was never blessed. Thus, they are just being ridiculous and disrespectful. If they don't believe in God, so be it. But leave me alone and leave my highways alone as well! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ My Comments:
These so-called atheists go through this ritual cleansing because deep down in their hearts they know that there is a God. Otherwise they wouldn't have even bothered performing this ritual of cleansing on something they SAY they don't even believe in.
THEY HAVE TIPPED THEIR HANDS - THEY KNOW THE TRUTH OF GOD, but are unwilling to acknowledge that truth, so God has sent them strong delusion so that they believe the lies they have swallowed hook, line, and sinker.
Atheism is its own ‘religion’ albeit a false and deceitful one.

God doesn’t send delusions. He is truth and love. They know God and they choose to ignore Him and even mock Him. They are fooled by a master liar and that is who they choose to serve. They think they’re being clever, but nothing they do can unbless anything—except their own spirits.
The homosexuals have got to love this. The “atheists” (Christian haters) are becoming bigger and more obnoxious pains in the ass than the homosexuals are.
To go through a ritual to undo a blessing they purport not to believe in seems more Satanic than atheistic to me.
Atheists are nothing but angry little children still rebelling against their parents.
The whole thing is a mystery to me.
“unholy water”? Did they get 0bama, the anti CHRIST, to pee on it?
Well God loves them anyway. I don’t but I should. God does though and if this makes them feel better, whatever. I always wondered what they use as a compas to help them understand right and wrong. Where is their center? I think God is there, even though they go out of their way to assert otherwise. They must be so tired. God is still there and they won’t be able to do anything about that.
The whole thing is a mystery to me.
Look up Numbers 5:17, where a ritual is being described and the text says, "[A]nd the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel and take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water."
This shows that holy water not only has a basis in the Bible, but that it has been around since the days of Moses. Holy water was used for numerous Old Testament ceremonies that involved ceremonial sprinklings and washings.
“Atheism is its own religion albeit a false and deceitful one.”
Now hoooolllld on a minute, pardner. Atheism is simply the lack of faith in God. What we’re talking about here is the hatred of God and those who revere him. In other words, liberals. As an atheist myself I have great respect, admiration and, to be honest, quite a bit of envy of those who do have the faith. I think that they are better people, generally, than those of us who don’t. And without them we sink as a culture into a state of horrible evil.
I may not believe, but the only followers God who ever wanted to hurt me are those who call their God Allah. Now, there’s a God I can hate.
Long live Christians, (real) Jews, and strong be their faith, for they guide us through life with their moral strength. But, please, know the difference between the mere lack of faith and a liberal.
A highway will be there, a roadway, And it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for him who walks that way.
Heck, If I’d a known that it was this easy to goad the devils into cleaning I would have brought my spritzer bottle to work a long time ago!
A restaurant owner who became a dear friend ooffered to come and bless my then-new house with holy water. It’s never made sense to me either, but the gesture was made out of love and so I welcomed her to come do it, and she did. She’s Greek Orthodox, has a very thick Greek accent despite being here since the fifties, and is now pushing 80 years old.
This is all pretty trivial, but here is one view of it:
I don’t think their “unblessing” will carry any weight. From the Scriptures, Genesis Chapter 27, where Jacob, with his mother’s collusion, deceived his old blind father, Isaac into giving his brother Esau’s “Blessing-of-the-Firstborn” to him, Jacob. When Esau discovered what had happened and confronted his old, blind, deceived father...........
Gen 27:30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.
Gen 27:31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.
Gen 27:32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.
Gen 27:33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.
The key words there are, “I have blessed him and he shall be blessed.” Once a blessing has been pronounced, it cannot be retrieved.
Like the angry five year old that poops in his pants to spite the teacher......in the end you have to live in the mess you’ve made for yourself. I can’t imagine living such a bitter, hopeless existance.
Thank You & Amen!
“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.” (Proverbs 16:6)
Now that is a truth that all (ubelievers and believers) can benefit from!
A lawyer, not licensed to practice in Florida was busily sending threatening “legal” letters to anyone and everyone, when she wasn't busy trying to deliberately freak out the neighborhood kids by enthusiastically screaming and pretending to have energetic sex while they played nearby...
But they piously (LOL) claim they are only trying to uphold nonexistent separation of church and state laws, by trying to force everyone who prays to any god out of the public square, and out of public office.
They specifically target Christians, of most denominations.
But I have never heard of them denouncing the Westboro Baptist Church cultists...hmmmm
In all fairness, many atheists are the abused and neglected children of “bad” religion. But what *is* bad religion?
1) There are bad people who use religion as cover to inflict abusive practices on children. Often they are mean and cruel, or perverse, or domineering and controlling, or wracked by neuroses and their own personal demons. Children abused by such people find it hard to separate the actions of these abusers from the religion they surround themselves with.
2) There are the liberal religions where the very purpose of the religion has been subverted to the liberal agenda. Would a child raised in “Reverend” Wright’s church be a child of faith, or a child of bigoted racial hate?
3) There are “soft” churches where there is no faith, just empty ritual once a week and maybe on “holidays” like Easter. Why bother when you can watch TV on Sunday? Why believe when it is just a waste of everyone’s time?
4) The culture itself increasingly derides and despises religion as empty myth, practiced only by the weak minded and superstitious. Unless a child is raised by those who believe, are strong of character and are role models, if the children vote with the majority, they will be attracted to atheism.
5) Finally there is the natural inclination to both stubbornness and rejection of parental authority, which is seen in children trying to become adults, and stumbling around more than not. For them, atheism is a phase which they grow out of and return to their faith.
Considering the users, I would think a keg of "a_shole-y" water would be more appropriate.
These modern day atheists are really starting to creep me out.
If I were an atheist I would dismiss all this “blessing” stuff as superstitious nonsense, devoid of meaning, just silliness.
But clearly they either a. take it very seriously or b. just want to be mean-spirited or (ok, this IS probably it) c. seek publicity.
But in any even they are proselytizing (can’t believe I spelled that right without google!) atheists, and I find that quite annoying.
Would TRUE atheism require total apathy toward anything religious?
