Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said Tuesday that Rick Santorum "probably didn't mean to" say that he doesn't care about the unemployment rate but that it still illustrates a broader problem with the former Pennsylvania senator.
"I know that Santorum probably didn't mean to say it, but it's what he said," Gingrich said. "And, you know, when you're going to take on an incumbent President of the United States you better know what you believe. You better be able to say it very vividly. Can you imagine a Barack Obama dealing with somebody who says he doesn't care about the unemployment rate?"

Unless he wins three more states, Gingrich cannot win at a divided convention either. At this point, only Romney and Santorum have won the five state minimum to be nominated. That is what the rule says.
I don’t doubt at all what you say. The rules are crazy.
But are you saying another candidate that has not been running cannot be introduced at a convention?
I do not know all the rules. I was looking at rule 40, the one that was mentioned, and it seems to say that to be nominated, a candidate must win five states. I wonder how many of the candidates even know this.

Newt is trying to deny Romney delegates. Nobody is going to beat Romney outright. The only chance is to deny him delegates. Period.
Rick is trying to attract/keep more manufacturing jobs in the U.S.A. so more people will have JOBS!

How about some reality people. It appears Newt Campaign is Bankrupt it also appears Santorum Campaign is bankrupt.
Mittens has just beaten Santorum/Gingrich voters combined by 30k votes. His funding will continue to flood in.
Neither can continue at this pace. Lack of Funding is killing both Candidates they need a game changer to equalize the Mittens cash advantage.

I think I read that there was a difference between a “brokered” and an “open” convention. I don’t remember the details, but I’ll reread if we get closer to such an event.

There is a way to know yet... before the actual number of delegates “secured” by each candidate is known. ......This is why delegates has been the name of the game from the beginning.
This may also refer to the situation at the convention after voting is completed....... The number of delegates required to win is 1144..... It now appears that a further qualification is that the nominee win a plurality of the delegates in at least five States.
But I also hear Delegates can change the rules.
I understood what Rick meant right away, and I explained it in my last post.
Rick DOES care about employment, but what IF unemployment DOES come back significantly before the General Election (which it probably won’t), there are other issues, too, like getting rid of Obamacare, our 2nd amendment rights, and freedom, and so forth.
What’s one-issue Romney going to say if employment comes back? Obamacare certainly won’t be a good issue for Mr. Romney(care).
An after thought..can a nominee select a vp before they are nominated?
Show me which candidate has no faults, and I’ll show you a candidate who does.
Since Santorum is the only other candidate who can be nominated, so far, he needs to win three states, or he should withdraw and plead with his supporters to support Santorum. At the moment, that is the only alternative to a Romney nomination.

North Carolina - 3rd

He was leading in WV, NE, and MT, but that was back in November.
Arkansas, Kentucky, and South Dakota have no polls I can find.
I don’t know if this applies to a floor fight. If true, Newt (or anyone else) can come in and contest during the second and later vote, as long as he surpasses a plurality of 5 state’s delegates.
Why not just answer the question. Why does Rick want to give manufacturers preferential treatment through the tax code? Why only lower that corporate tax rate on manufacturing to zero? Why not on other sectors? Are those jobs less valuable? Does it have to do with the fact that manufacturing jobs are more heavily unionized?

Relative to the question posed, it wasn’t necessary to address it in order to answer him. But, I appreciate you bringing it to my attention.
Newt won’t run as third party.
But if it takes Newt, Paul and to a greater degree Santorum to peel delegates away from Mitt, why should anybody get out?
Newt didn’t hurt Rick in Ill. or any other state. Mitt did.
