Booze control' for future cars
Washington Examiner ^ | 3/21/2012 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 03/21/2012 2:26:06 PM PDT by Drill Thrawl

Not satisfied with putting federal restrictions on driver distractions like cellular phones, the federal government is pursuing technology to prevent cars from starting if drivers are legally drunk--even if they don’t have a DUI record.

Urged on by anti-alcohol groups like Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Senate on a bipartisan vote OK’d the highway bill that will provide $24 million over two years to study the “Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety,” a Transportation Department project to put booze detectors in all new cars this decade.

Lets find out who makes the devices, or the parts for the devices.

And politicians wonder why they're despised.

This will create a BIG black-market for devices to defeat this device.

And it WILL happen.

Can you imagine having to put your mouth on the same breathalyzer device in your car over and over again for 2 to 7 years? Gack!

I’ve got a much better idea. Let’s put something on government officials that squeezes their testicles or breasts real hard every time they even think about more violations of our private space.

I know a guy who can disconnect such devices from cars. He told me that he’d do it for 500 bucks.

No joke. It won’t be too long before they demand body mass index limits before they let you drive. If you’re a pro bodybuilder, you’ll have to seek government dispensation.

All in the name of saving the country fuel.

Oh for Pete’s sake... cars will cost $50k before these clowns are done.

Here’s a better idea: Put the FREAKING drunk ass repeat offenders IN JAIL... for a long time.

This will kill the car companies and create an aftermarket boom. I will never buy a car with one of these on it.

Another violation of our 4th Amendment rights by the Imperial government. But, after being illegally groped by the TSA (another 4th Amendment violation), we are, apparently, being accustomed to it!

I rather just execute the politician who utters this idiocy immediately and hang their corpse in a place where all other politicians could see them. Nip this sh1t in the bud real damn quick.

That’s the point, they want to get people out of their cars.

Partly they are appeasing the MADD-type pro-nanny state, I fear my fellow law abiding citizens demographic, but it also furthers the Agenda 21 agenda as well. And those who enjoy and desire the taking of more freedom from the average person and forcing them to live the way they want them to.

And politicians wonder why they're despised.

No, they don't. They would actually have to give a rat's behind what we think and they don't. They KNOW that once every 2 years, we are going to march into a voting booth and send them back to Washington to continue their incompetent, anti-American shredding of the Constitution.

This November will, once again, reveal how stupid American voters are when they send 95+% of the incumbents who created most of our problems back to Washington to "fix" them!

It would NEVER occur to us to demand BETTER representation.

MADD has been PAID by the maker of the interlock to support this.

They just can’t make enough money with the courts.

This is a solution looking for a problem where no problem exists.

That should read “bring the reeking toxic drunk to the hospital to save a life.”

Now imagine doing it at thirty below. Like sticking your tongue on the flagpole... Lose meat or die. (Not to mention frosting the stupid gizmo up and risking freezing to death somewhere.)
