Obama’s Outrageous DOL Rules Will Restrict Minors From Working on Family Farms – Killing Farm Life

Barack Obama is committed to killing off the family farm – an American tradition.

For generations children and adults have worked together on the family farm. Those days are over.

Senators John Thune (R-S.D.) and Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) today introduced the Preserving America’s Family Farm Act, to prevent the Department of Labor (DOL) from enacting its controversial proposed restrictions that would ban children from working on family farms.

Senator Thune spoke out against the Obama Administration’s proposed labor rules for youth who work on farms and ranches on the Senate floor.

The Obama Administration’s rules are so strict they would restrict minors from handling most animals and even from using battery-powered screwdrivers.

It is time to abolish the Department of Labor (DOL).

BTW, what are the other 3 departments?

If the federal government can regulate the relationship between parents and their children on their own family’s farm, there is virtually nothing off limits when it comes to government intrusion into our lives

Why do you think they enacted "health care reform"

Obama can’t have the last vestiges of American family farms get in the way of his collective farms manned by Democrat Party approved workers. Nothing like good ol’ Communist run farms to knock down food production and control the population’s food supply.

It is worse than that. I do not know how many times I have come across those raised on farms or grew up working in family business. Hands down the bet workers/employees you can find.

They can't. They'll be happy with the damage they do until they're finally busted by the SCOTUS, ten to fifteen years from now. By then, most of the farmers will be toast. To get the rest, they'll tweak the rules just a bit to accomplish the same thing and force the farmers to sue again to stop them. Bureaucrats have plenty of your money with which to wait out their hosts.

Absolutely insane. There’s really no other way to describe it. Someday Americans will wake up from their stupor and realize that the country they thought they lived in has vanished without a trace.

Obama and his handlers are all city born urbanites that consider hard work to be what you do when you go door to door asking for money to help organize the community. People outside the urban environment are just country hicks that need to be marginalized as racist hang overs.

AGENDA 21
No sense getting minors involved, right? Farming shall end with today's seniors because the 'farmer of tomorrow' is the GOVERNMENT. This is just ONE of the objectives of the U.N's 'Agenda 21'.

There is evidently no end to the good that the federal government can do when we have achieved a proper understanding of the true scope of the Commerce Clause, even regulating the relationship between parent and child.

The problem is not H.O. but the people who still think that he is the next best thing to sliced bread. Unfortunately more and more people who vote for a living outnumber the ones who work for a living and this does not bode well for our future.

Like we pay attention to what the government says we can and can’t do. My grandchildren will work on our family farm. The kids have since the early 1900’s and the tradition will continue. KMABO

"Sorry, Ms. JustaDumbBlonde. Your insurance doesn't cover that accident your son had while driving the tractor. There is a clause in your policy that prohibits covering illegal activity. And, since your son is only 15 and therefore not, by law, allowed to drive the tractor... Well, we're sorry but you are going to have to pay the bill yourself."

Your point is well taken, but suffering a bad injury by driving a tractor is almost unheard of ... in fact, the darn tractor drives itself with GPS and my son sits there relatively bored. Any injury by an implement can be explained as an everyday accident, no work involved.

what’s the alternative?

Govt. owned and run farms as in communist countries......

The children would be in their govt. run schools, fast tracked in career directions according to their intelligence levels....

This is a massive power play in favor of unions. The plan is to unionize every scrap of labor that has previously been done by farm family members.

We are already there. The government controls EVERYTHING you do now. The only thing left is for the government to make everyone DO the same thing as everyone else...Communism/Marxism. That will come after the next election cycle this year.
