(Reuters) - The city manager of Sanford, Florida, where a neighborhood watch leader shot and killed an unarmed teen, called a news conference on Thursday amid demands for an arrest in the case and a vote of no confidence for the police chief.
The press conference at Sanford City Hall was called by City Manager Norton Bonaparte Jr., who was expected to discuss developments in the highly charged case.
The killing of Trayvon Martin, 17, an African American, by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, 28, a white Hispanic, has drawn national attention and sparked debate over Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law since Zimmerman has claimed self-defense. Police thus far have declined to arrest him.
On Wednesday, Martin's parents joined hundreds of demonstrators gathered in a New York park to demand an arrest in the shooting death.
At the same time, in Florida, Sanford's city commissioners passed a motion of "no confidence" in Police Chief Bill Lee Jr., who has said the department acted properly in not arresting Zimmerman.
But it's up to Bonaparte, not the commission, to decide whether or not to fire Lee.

No black on white crime will be covered in the same way, but even more so, the key word is Oklahoma, which Obama has no chance of winning in November. Florida, however, is in play. If anyone thought this incident would hurt Obama's election chances, it would disappear. It is continuing to build, so there must be something for him to come in and heal our nation, and Florida, in time for the election.

I do not know about “latinos,” but I do know Latins are a range of shades just as are Americans in the U.S.
It depends on the amount of melanin. Little melanin means white skin. A lot of melanin means dark skin.
All this is political, and no one wants to describe the shooter as Hispanic, in order not to inflame the Hispanic community. It will become a gun issue, because the Democrats want it to be. Funny how many killing have occurred in Sanford, when compared to New York, Chicago, DC, and other large urban areas.
That said the parents do have a point in asking why the shooter was not arrested. Just a thought, is the head of law enforcement in Sanford a Dem?

I have Cuban friends here in Florida who escaped Castro and they refer to Mexicans as "Los Indios" and are polar opposite of the illegals and they are conservative Republicans.
Upon seeing a lot of illegals coming in from the west...most of them do fit that description, so I guess they nailed it. The guy on the left would be the prototype to what they refer.
