Police to ignore California impound law amid concern of fairness to illegal immigrants

The Los Angeles Police Department will soon start ignoring California state law, which requires police to impound the vehicles of unlicensed drivers for 30 days.
The majority of unlicensed motorists in Los Angeles are immigrants who are in the country illegally and have low-income jobs. The LAPD says the state's impound law is unfair because it limits their ability to get to their jobs and imposes a steep fine to get their car back.
As long as drivers can produce some form of I.D., proof of insurance and vehicle registration, they'll be allowed to keep their car. Police Chief Charlie Beck insists that it's simply leveling the playing field.
"It's about fairness. It's about equal application of the law," Beck told a Los Angeles TV station earlier this month.

The point......you sir, have missed it.
You know, I think we should propose they don't follow through with arresting cop killers in LA because the poor disenfranchised murders can't get to their jobs if they're in prison. You know, to be fair. /s
I need to drop 10 feet onto my head a couple times. Maybe then this new world disorder will begin to make logical sense.
Police Chief Charlie Beck is worthless, treasonous scum.
What jobs? Illegals cant have jobs. Its illegal for them to have jobs.
Isnt a fine supposed to discourage people from breaking the law? So if the illegals know you are not going to impound their car isnt that in effect encouraging illegals to break the law.
Doesnt this fact that they will only enforce this law against lawful residents of the US violate the equal protection of the law clause of the 14th amendment.
Houston’s changing their laws on drinking in public downtown too, bragging that they are adding “tailgating” to “all” of Houston’s sports stadiums just as the esoccer estadium is about to open.
No sense in writing a bunch of tickets to people who don’t use their real names and who law enforcement don’t want to prosecute anyway.
Nation of scofflaw immigrants.
If I get hit by an illegal alien in Los Angeles whose car was not towed because of this, I will sue the city.
Call a spade a spade
One of Mexico's greatest strengths are the billions wired home by migrant workers in the United States.
How many of those with low (reported) income and are receiving government assistance are sending money "they desperately need" out of the country?
Is there some way that we can vote California “Off the Island?”
DEPORT their ILLEGAL @$$e$ and they can get to their job in Mexico.
So when are bank robbery laws going to be unfair to bank robbers? Rape laws unfair to rapists? Murder laws unfair to murderers?
Answer: When the perp is ILLEGAL.
So, how would this be different if they had a criminal for a police chief?
In a just world, Police Chief Beck would be fired, tarred and feathered, and run out on a rail. I’d settle for 2 out of 3. Didn’t this twit swear an oath to “uphold the laws”... or was that just more of a guideline? How does he pick which laws to enforce?
Agreed.
Sounds like one hell of a class action lawsuit in the works.
So we have total anarchy but Bush Jr calls us vigilantes?
Oh, and God forbid we use self defense and then get sued in “ambiguous” situations.
Great, just great.
FULAPD. COWARDS WITH A STINKIN’ BADGE.
I wish Jim would put in a "Like" button
Then the wetback drivers might do us some good.
All I have to do is denounce my citizenship, relinquish my driver license and then travel anywhere I want with impunity.
Oh, but wait; the IRS wants several years worth of taxes based on previous income for people who do that and actually wants to know where they are.
That is only for former citizens, of course.
I am starting to think I would be better off if I had never been a citizen of this country.
By order of guess who?.. THE UNIONS. I have about as much respect for cops as I do teachers. They’re both whores for their Unions in exchange for those juicy, falsely inflated LIFETIME PENSIONS at the expense of tax payers.
I give up..........

Agree, we definitely have ‘went around the bend’.
In DC, after a rash of street burglaries with a couple designated ‘hate crimes’ ?? on ‘do funnies’, the Chief stood up and declared(not quite a quote) “The reason for the recent surge in crimes is WE have been to good at our jobs and the people get out more and are more relaxed so when a couple of crimes happen together it seems worse than it is”.
Guess when you get people running your PD that are probably better suited to be Professors or such you get such ‘deep thought’ when it comes to enforcing the law.
The first poor, white man that gets stopped and has their car impounded should sue their rears off.
I like this....
I like this....
Those illegals need their cars to get to work. They cant be treated like us legal Americans by police.
What is amazing is how these libs just ignore the law rather than change it
“What is amazing is how these libs just ignore the law rather than change it”
Maybe they hate us ?
There are no libs anymore.....just hard core left.
Stupid liberals.
The fines, impounding fees generate INCOME for the city, do they not?
If the illegals cannot afford to get their cars out of the lot in a timely fashion the cars go to auction, don’t they?
I thought liberals LOVED fines, fees, tickets and taxes. Why are they cutting off this revenue source?
Well, darlin’ it appears some of us animals are more equal than others.
“I give up.......... “
That’s all they’re waiting for. It’s gotten so bad now, I don’t think there’s any turning back. Between the criminal foreign nationals and the corrupt authorities, we’re out numbered.
“Is there some way that we can vote California Off the Island?”
The fault isn’t ‘California’, or MOST of its citizens, a few years ago anyway. They passed prop 187 to stop this crap, and more than a few good DC based REPUBLICAN power houses helped get it scrapped. If we only had the left to fight, we might actually get somewhere.
Remembering Proposition 187
[snip]Ah, yes, and WHO was right in the front fighting Prop 187 ...... None other than GROVER NORQUIST, and other so called conservatives.
[snip]Working closely with Stephen Moore of the Cato Institute, Cesar Conda (former domestic advisor to Dick Cheney) circulated a statement against Prop. 187 of California in the nineties.

......
so do all the middle class white folks get a rebate for all their fines and impound fees ??? didnt think so...
the commies aint even tryin to hide it anymore...they have declared war, and despise our existance, even as we keep trying to work within the *law* of man and God...
someday theyll push to far and then 'self defense' becomes a valid principle...
“the commies aint even tryin to hide it anymore...they have declared war, and despise our existance, even as we keep trying to work within the *law* of man and God...”
Why should they hide? When the Republicans in D.C. are hiding in caves?
You’re right; law enforcement officers that don’t enforce the law are as useless as teachers that don’t teach (and just as expensive); thankfully we have a governor here in NJ that cut costs resulting in thousands of both losing their jobs.
“Nation of scofflaw immigrants.”
Here in NJ we have to jump through hoops to renew our drivers licenses, while CA wants to give them to illegal aliens. I’m so tempted to get one of the “matricula consular” ID cards; if I’m in trouble, or need to use an emergency room, I’ll use my Mexican ID (they’ve shuttered many of our emergency rooms here in NJ because the law required them to treat everyone while constantly reducing the reimbursements for doing so).
good point, although i firmly believe today, that theres a sick, evil side that gets a woody in the fact that they can flaunt it and still deceive so many useful idiots, that cant or wont believe em when they honestly state their intentions to destroy our way of life... the father of lies is on his game when he can fool the masses while tellin you the honest truth...
They will triple the cost of fines and impound fees for the sorry person who had the nerve to be legal; it’ll happen soon enough for the misfortunate one who can’t escape Lost Angel-Ass, CA.
Welcome to the Third World.
You can bet vote-crazed US pols are behind this outrage---taking their orders from the Third World in exchange for votes.
"Fairness" for law breakers is the new norm.....what next? Giving 'em keys to the city?
====================================
It's sickening that citizens of every hellhole in the Third World can ignore our law......their interests supercede sacrosanct US laws.
US citizens are compelled to watch their country demeaned and marginalized.
US citizens must rise up and demand their country's laws be enforced.
Hmmmmm........this means fake document brokers will make a killing.
============================================== The federal ICE documents and benefits fraud task force" found: A common practice among "impoverished" illegals is to buy several faked identitues for several thousand dollars each----the illegal then votes and rides the US gravy train under several names. One latino stole $3.2 million UI benefits using several identities. Jose Madrigal---the Washington state rapist---had some 30 identities.

Texans accused of selling counterfeit IDs
(impoverished illegals "here for a better life" pay several thousand $$$ for fake ID's)
Pelcastre brothers, Angel and Jorge, Dallas, Texas, were a walking threat to US national security, expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity, NJ L/E authorities said. The Texas brothers were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of fake US documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses----for any state in the US------ passports and resident alien cards, said state police.
The Texas brothers turned a NJ hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local NJ identity broker. Officers happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in a NJ hotel parking lot. Authorities wouldn't identify the NJ hotel by name for fear it would spark retribution by savage South of the Border drug kingpins.
The Texas brothers were followed to a NJ office supply store nearby where they purchased computer supplies. Officers then followed the Texans to a NJ storage facility in Secaucus, NJ, where the Texans loaded several boxes into a car. One of them stood lookout. Authorities approached the Texas brothers when they returned to the NJ hotel and questioned them separately.
The Texas brothers consented to a search. Police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs.
All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street when sold to "impoverished illegals." Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a NJ fake document broker for a shipment of 500 phony Social Security cards. ####

THIS JUST IN A northern New Jersey man has admitted acting as a broker for a large black market ring that illegally sold digital driver licenses issued by the state. Forty-four-year-old Hildeberto Salinas of Carlstadt, NJ, pleaded guilty Monday to bribery and conspiracy charges. He faces a four-year prison sentence and a $20,000 fine when hes sentenced April 27. Salinas says he brokered sales of licenses issued out of the states Motor Vehicle Agency in Lodi, NJ.
The fake licenses were sold to those who did not have the necessary identification to legally obtain a drivers license. Salinas was among 40 people accused of roles in the widespread ring.
Officials have said the licenses were sold for $2,500 to $7,000 apiece to "impoverished" illegals, with the DMV clerks and the brokers splitting the money.
The majority of unlicensed motorists in Los Angeles are immigrants ....

You mean..
The majority of unlicensed motorists in Los Angeles are illegal aliens...
There's a blast from the past. Good old Tom Tancredo had amassed much support for suing sanctuary cities when an Illegal had caused harm after coming into contact with local authorities. Never went anywhere though.....
Hispanic: poor darling of the elites.
American: taxpaying serf.
Now I know how late 4th century Romans felt as they were taxed to death while the Emperor gave away huge tracts of land to Gothic invaders.
Yep
However, it's OK to take an individual's drivers license for not paying enough child support and it's OK to take their car after it is impounded for thirty days. How does that individual get to their job?
"A low-income person doesn't have the ability to pay the fees after 30 days to get their car back," said Cardinal Roger Mahony.
Same argument as above.

I don’t know about this law.
Over a decade ago California voters passed an initiative which had cars driven by anyone without insurance impounded if they were stopped by a cop or were in a wreck.
It was a great law, but in a short time the PCers went nuts worrying that JoseJuanRicardoMaria whatever would lose their car, and our initiative died.
The left wing legislature passed a law which made insurance companies have uninsured motorist coverage in case your vehicle or you were damaged by uninsured motorists.
So as our number of illegas increased so did our illegal and uninsured drivers. We all pay higher insurance bills to cover the uninsured drivers.
That was a typical liberal way to handle any severe problem. Use OPM to cover the blatant violation of the law by uninsured drivers and nothing to lower the % of uninsured drivers.
Liberal legislators never handle or solve a big problem, they just pass more laws which cost us more while they waste the money looking at the growing problem.
