Santorum Suggests Obama Preferable to "Etch-A-Sketch" Romney.
latimes.com ^ | March 22, 2012 | Michael A. Memoli

Rick Santorum's latest attempt to use a Mitt Romney aide's "Etch-A-Sketch" remark against the Republican front-runner instead gave his rival a chance to fire back on Thursday, after Santorum seemed to say he'd rather see President Obama reelected than send Romney to the White House.

Speaking at an event in Texas, Santorum again made the case that Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom's comments Wednesday on CNN about a "reset" of the campaign if Romney clinched the nomination showed the former Massachusetts governor's efforts to appeal to conservatives were insincere.

"You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a little different than the person in there," Santorum told a crowd in San Antonio, according to NBC News. "If you're going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch-A-Sketch candidate of the future."

“If he does not get this nomination, he is next in line.”

That comment alone IF TRUE proves he is part of the GOP-e and will take one for the team.

I thought the GOP-e was who we were trying to get rid of.

"The system stinks but at least next round we will have an even better Rick Santorum."

Likely, but he'll have to back out soon to get the E endorsement.

Otherwise he'd have to be a real conservative like Reagan...and he's NOT.

He's a true believer in the power of the state. There's no arguing that.

Nope. This site has already announced absolutely no support or positive discussion about Romney. You are on a thin line of getting the zot if you don’t stop your obsession with wanting Romney as our President. It is over. The GOPe has chosen again and I won’t support them this time. I am 100 percent serious.

Any reasoning conservative agrees with you and understands that a conservative republican-controlled Congress is essential, regardless of who wins the White House.

That is the way to end run the establishment GOP, and to render Romney's lack of moral compass benign.

He won't veto conservative laws if we can get them to his desk. Why would he? Like Bush, he appears to have no ideological ax to grind. When in liberal Taxachusetts he was a liberal. If elected with a conservative Congress, he'll be a conservative. No big deal to him either way. That can cut in our favor if we do our jobs with the Congress. What's so hard about that?

“I want someone who can put some wings on the car before it goes over the cliff. Crazy times, but I just don’t see a solution with Mitt.”

To quote a well-known Democrat pipe-layer, IT’S THE ECONOMY, STUPID

When you take an HONEST look at what Romney has accomplished, he’s strong on economics, and has the moral background to do things RIGHT. He has the money, resources, and the connections to pull this off.

My biggest fear, and primary reason for supporting NEWT with both money and time, has been that it’s going to take a REAL SONOFABITCH to both do what needs to be done to overcome the Obama/Gay Media propaganda complex, and to do the hard things it’s going to take to put this country back on the path to prosperity.

Romney hasn’t proven to me he has the stainless steel cajones that are going to be required to stand up against the queer/media/Democrat complex. (Though he has shown brief hints of growing a pair in recent days.)

Winston Churchill was the right man, at the right time, for the crisis his people faced. Newt could be, too.

Everyone says the same thing here, but then when Santorum says it, it’s terrible.

You have to take this one back. Neither I nor hundreds of others have ever said anything remotely like the Santorum statement. As far as I can discern, the only ones who have are --gasp--already members of the Santorum clique.

Well, nobody’s accusing them of being the “brightest bulb” in the pack. So, they may well be slow in learning the lesson that we’re tired of having the establishment’s choice crammed down our throats. But, speaking for myself, I’m tired of being used. No more!

If the establishment wants to continue to lose elections, just keep sending up wishy washy moderates to get their heads handed to them. After all, that plan has worked so well in the past. (Dole, McCain...Romney would fit right in with that pair.)

Well we certainly are failing badly and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Look at who is going to be our nominee? We had a great 2010 because we put the Tea Party front and center. 2 little years later and we have another GOPe candidate. I don’t know if it is possible to beat the GOPe quite frankly (at least in a Presidential primary).

I have clearly stated that I would vote for Romney over the idiot Santorum.

I believe Santorum would absolutely ascertain the re-election of Obama.

And YES, I would openly advocate for Romney over Santorum in all and every case.

But for now I advocate for Gingrich/Palin and AGAINST Santorum.

Instead of playing silly games with Santorum supporters, maybe you should find your checkbook and dig deep. If you didn't get the memo, Newts campaign is beyond broke. He can't even muster the cash to have the Girl Scouts volunteer to post handmade Go Newt signs on lamp posts because he can't afford the paper, markers and tape.

What in the effing world makes you think you know anything about what I have given to, or how hard I have worked for, and am working for Newt? What kind of moral superiority makes you arrogant enough to infer that? Oh, I know, santorum supporters are just like their candidate, they know better than everybody else about every thing.

Oh, and Rick Perry just got the okay from the FEC to start a new super pac from his leftover money from his campaign... Lots of girl scouts, lots of cookies coming up.

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/03/rick-perry-leftover-campaign-funds-super-pac-/

Oh, and Uncle Sheldon just gave another 5.5 million...

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/gop-primaries/217201-billionaire-sheldon-adelson-gives-additional-55-million-to-pro-gingrich-super-pac

Maybe you oughta just give it up... you have no credibility as anything but a santorum hack...

That's all for now. I don't spend my time in discussion with Santorum supporters, too stubborn, too sanctimnonious, too stupid. I hope you understand.

Really. More political baby talk. Ever hear this one, Junior?-- "A Choice not an Echo."

Know where that came from? Look it up and see how well that worked out.

You win by tapping into the legitimate concerns of the majority and giving voice to those concerns. You don't win by lecturing and sermonizing, you don't win by making demogogic statements about your party's future candidate.

We've heard for months, over and over; this time Santorum has jumped the shark. He is apparently walking on water, because the shark has yet to bite him. Who is the fool? The one that give up everything they believe in to vote for someone who has used them, taken them for granted, stolen from them, cheated them, lied to them. Somewhere it has to stop. I will not sell my soul to them anymore. Obama is bad, but I believe romney will be worse. He was for gay marriage and still is, abortion up to 9 months, and still is, cap and trade and still is...... I think he is a sociopath. I truly do. He destroyed all the other candidates without any regret. The man has no heart or soul. My kids deserve better than romney, because Rick is right; he is no different than obama. Thank you and goodnight.

There is a decent chance that we may take the Senate as well, at which point the Repubs in Congress will be running the show. I suspect there will be even more Tea Party members in congress whom will keep Mitt on the straight and narrow IF he trys yo leave the Plantation.

Newt is running for VP, now, I think. Remember Reagan-Bush, to unite the party.

Romney is going to need a REAL PIT VIPER to fight back against the blizzard of hate that is going to be unleashed this fall.

Few people, including most FREEPERS, I’m afraid, haven’t been paying attention to the size, scope, reach, and FUNDING of the huge propaganda mill, with a complicit mainstream media, that the Obama campaign has been building.

I have, and frankly, it scares the hell out of me.

The Tom Hanks “Triumph Of The Will” Obama campaign movie is only the beginning.

Whatever else he is or isn’t, I don’t think Romney is out to destroy the country the way Obama is, and there’s some hope the right can push him into line.

Especially if we add to the conservative caucus in Congress. But this is the crux--the Santorum clicque is blind to the real threat posed by Obama. I don't understand either how they can overlook the atrocities of the last three years, and the threat of five more years to come, but in their weird zeal they seem to act like obama is not even really there, and Romney, the conventional pol, is the world ending threat. Like I say--weird.
