President Barack Obama weighed in on the "tragedy" of Trayvon Martin's death last week, saying it is "absolutely imperative" that all levels of government investigate "every aspect" of how the unarmed boy was shot.
"I can only imagine what these parents are going through," Obama said, adding "When I think about this boy I think about my own kids."
"I am glad that not only is the Justice Department is looking into this, but the Governor of the State of Florida has put together a task force [to investigate the case]," Obama said. Obama carefully avoided any discussion of George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin, and has controversially avoided arrest under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense laws.
"My main message is to the parents: If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves."

This Trayvon one seems out of character for you. What made you so angry here?
He is tacitly assuming (1) the guilt of a man who has not yet gone before a jury of his peers; (2) the (supposed) racism of that man, as the animating factor in this killing; and (3) by extension, the (supposed) guilt of all of white society, with this incident merely being emblamatic of a deeper societal ill.
Presumably, President Obama hopes that by his demagoguing this issue, he can help to fire up his leftist base...

Based on police reports and other info, I believe Zimmerman was shouting for help and had decided that he must ‘kill or be killed’. I’m tired of the media showing an outdated photo of the dead individual. He’s a low life gang thug on suspension from school, not a Skittles-toting Boy Scout as the media is purposefully portraying to escalate racial tension thus evoking sympathy for blacks, with 0bama reaping the rewards in November. I smell a backfire on the horizon.
Just too many people jumping the shark. If Zimmerman had set out to kill Martin, he certainly would not have been on 911 several times starting at the very beginning. Now all the usual race-baiters, including obama, jumped on the band wagon, and Zimmerman is forced to hide out with a bounty on his head. The worm is starting to turn, especially when an eye witness came forward showing that Martin was the one beating an injured Zimmerman who was on his back shouting out for help. I have urged from the beginning that we should wait until ALL the evidence is in, and it is not in yet!

Thanks, but to me a “perp” is a suspected criminal and the Sanford police investigation certainly did not consider Zimmerman to be one, nor was his legal weapon confiscated at the time. I agree that the issue is going to backfire on the left, unless the DoJ covers up evidence as is their track record like with “Fast and Furious”!

Hmmm- Ya mean obama’s son wouldn’t look like hte white 13 year old boy who was hunted down bty several older black teens, and doused with gasoline, and set on fire? And Obama doesn’t deem it nearly as ‘imperative’ to ‘investigate every aspect’ of that obviously blatant racist attack on the white teen? It’s obvious to EVERYONE but raqcist black people how Trevon was shot- he was shot by a man fearing his head was abotu to explode o nthe concrete sidewalk because this trevon was smashing his head agaisnt it- and it’s now obvious to everyone that Trevon initiated the fight by cold-cocking zimmerman as zimmerman was goign back to his car-
Just because someone is following a person, it doesn’t give that person the right to assault the follower- Trevon commited a crime by assaulting zimmerman- but the media is silent about thagt crime- Zimmerman had every right to follow someone he thought was acting suspicious in a neighborhood that had been repeatedly burglarized- Trevon did NOT have the right to turn around and assault zimmerman nor to bash his head agaisnt hte3 sidewalk so badly that zimmerman felt his only recourse at self defense was to shoot hte boy
