The Sanford Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, did not instigate the encounter but has received death threats and moved out of his home, his father told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday.
George Zimmerman, 28, has not been arrested, something that has put him and the Sanford Police Department at the center of a firestorm. Critics say Trayvon, who was visiting family from his home in Miami, was a victim of racial profiling.
Zimmerman's father, 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman of Lake Mary, delivered a one-page letter to the Sentinel on Thursday, saying that the depiction of his son in the media has been cruel and misleading.
George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
"He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever ...," the letter says. "The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth."
The letter does not provide details about what happened Feb. 26 on a walkway in the gated community where George Zimmerman lives and where Trayvon was visiting. But it does challenge one basic assumption of the family's lawyers: that Zimmerman's intent when he got out of his sport utility vehicle was to confront Trayvon after calling police to report a suspicious person.

The Orlando Sentinel also cut the last half of the 911 tape out in the edited version that it published, which was Zimmerman referring to blacks, and this kid in particular as "f'n coons". Once Zimmerman confronted Martin, all he had to do was shoot off his filthy racist mouth to get Martin, or any other black to toss some punches at him for an excuse and cover for the racist bastard to shoot him and get away with it.
The riots would still continue. It does not matter what happened. Sharpton will have his riots. Farrakhan will have his proclaimed “Revenge”. They don't really care about the issue.
BTW, anyone else notice that no one is talking about the fact that Zimmerman is not White as he is being portrayed.
He is Hispanic with Black relatives. This morning on the radio, one of the race baiters was calling him a White Hispanic. hahaha yeah, right.

Police said initially that evidence at the scene supported Zimmerman's claim of self defense which was why they did not arrest him.
I have read that one eyewitness saw the two on the ground with the kid on top of Zimmerman.

When police officers arrived, Martin was lifeless, face down on the ground, while Zimmerman was bleeding from his head and his back was covered in grass, as if he had been on the ground, the police report said.
Sanford police issued a statement Wednesday defending their decision not to arrest Zimmerman. They said that when officers arrived, he claimed self-defense, “which at the time was supported by physical evidence and testimony.”
The police chief said Zimmerman claimed he was attacked by Martin after he had given up his chase and was returning to his truck.(my emphasis)

A man who witnessed part of the altercation contacted authorities.
"The guy on the bottom, who had a red sweater on, was yelling to me, 'Help! Help!' and I told him to stop, and I was calling 911," said the witness, who asked to be identified only by his first name, John.
John said he locked his patio door, ran upstairs and heard at least one gun shot.
"And then, when I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on the top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point."

I have the tape published by the Sanford city gov. I just listened to it again. The word is clearly "COONS". That's plural and it rymes with moons, not bunks. It's a "kuh", not a puh". and an "oo", as in moon, not an "uh" as in "duh".
Also you must have missed the several articles this morning over those exact allegations. You know, the articles that said numerous voice and recording experts had analyzed and cleaned up the recordings and COULD NOT TELL what was said.
You might not want to spout your drivel too much more...it's making you look uninformed.

It was obvious from the beginning when the MSM started pushing a side in this situation that the white guy (Hispanic) was being setup as a scape goat. Too many Freepers swallowed that line hook, line and sinker. They bring shame to themselves for not knowing better.

You also might want to look at the transcripts of the number of times Zimmerman called the police. There are TWO calls he made of young black children in the street (approx age 6). The reason for his call? He was concerned for their safety. He must be a damn evil racist, I tell you what.
Exactly why this case is closed! The cops did a thorough job! If they found evidence to suggest Zimmerman was guilty of anything besides self defense Zimmerman would be charged with a crime. I trust the police did the job they were suppose to do. I’m moving along now. This kind if stuff happen all the time. Geez! It’s only a big story cause the Media, Sharpton, etc are making it that way.
It's disgusting. All that I've been hearing is that Zimmerman caused it etc and nothing about his side of it. I saved a redacted copy of the police report which indicates that Zimmeran was bleeding from his nose and on the back of his head. Also the cop noted in the report that his back appeared wet and had grass on it.
Some poster was claiming that she also had a copy of the report and said Zimmeran caused it and I asked her to copy that section and post it because the report I have (although it is noted it's a partial) indicates nothing about that.
I don't know where everyone is getting their facts but I have yet to see any real account of the facts on what Zimmerman's actions actually were.
Now it's nationwide. Heard some hag congresscritter on NPR screeching that it's been like the 'Wiiiiild West now dat the law was passed (stand your ground or whatever).'
That's what they're really after, the law which allows people to defend themselves.
