Video Uncovered: Romney in ‘02: ‘Only Connection’ to the Republican Party Is My Party Registration
The Blaze ^ | 3/23/12

With his conservative credentials still taking fire over “Etch A Sketchgate,” Mitt Romney is facing a new potential obstacle to his argument that he is unfailingly a Republican.

A 2002 clip, posted Friday on BuzzFeed, shows then-Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Romney declaring that his “only connection” to the Republican Party in the state is that “I’m registered as a Republican.”

His only reason for identifying as a Reoublican in Massachusettes was that there was no room for him in - no desire to join with him from the Democrat’s party.

At heart, he is not only a not a Conservative, he’s not a Republican.

This is the media launch against Romney to depress turn out among the already terminally depressed, and an assist to keep the unaccomplished adolescent Rickster stepping endlessly on his tongue, as the coux de grace for Republicans.

I believe RINOS by now are getting the message, and themselves even hope for a new leader to emerge at convention, which is likely our last hope, unfortunately.

From Jeb to DeMint....having experience in the trenches of national politics and also a bevy of other compromise candidates that are NOT ROMNEY = ABR.

IF WE CAN JUST MAKE IT TO CONVENTION............!

Santorum has a temper. Not ready for presidential level debates. Obama will drag him into contraceptives, religious issues, Spanish issues, and make him look extreme, although he is not extreme. Go with Newt, the proven debater, has experience at Speakership level in politics, which is 3rd in line for presidency.

Just hope won’t get you there. Paul has already made overtures to Romney to combine the delegates in exchange for some unknown deal. May be Rand Paul as VP.

Could be because they are more worried about jobs than religion?

What I like about him is he doesn’t even hang out with the so-called Republican establishment.

You’re kidding, right? You LIKE Romney?

The average twit GOP voter seems to like this guy, just like Dole and McCain.

I frankly, don’t know what I will do if Romney gets the nomination. I won’t vote for Obama, I will not vote for Romney. I will vote down ticket, but I’m seriously looking at the Constitution party.

Romney will be the death of the GOP.

“One can only imagine how different this election year could’ve been, had Romney not come and pissed into the water.”

Newt would have won the nomination weeks ago

Romney will do nothing for jobs and as a Christian, I put my faith first. I cannot vote for Mitt for a whole host of reasons.

Sadly, Santorum doesn’t seem to have the sense to keep on a message that this election will be about. He lets the media side track him to social issues which always make him seem out of the main stream. I agree with his views, but he’s not politically savvy enough to handle the heat. Obama would kill him.

BINGO!

Either Newt or Rick Perry. A damn effing shame it's turning out as it is.

The upcoming March/April primaries are : Louisiana, District of Columbia, Maryland, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. That's 375 delegates inside the next four weeks.

Now name one of these states that Gingrich has even a remote chance of winning.

Gingrich may be the smartest guy in the room; I've said so myself. But the baggage that comes with him is too heavy for the common man to bear apparently. I know Louisiana will break for Santorum. I believe my home state of Wisconsin will break for Santorum as will Maryland. I would bet money on Pennsylvania. The surrounding east coast states of Connecticut, Delaware, New York, and Rhode Island (and similarly D.C.) will be battle grounds ... head to head between Romney and Santorum ... with zero opportunity for Gingrich or Paul.

It all boils down to: do you trust the delegate negotiating that comes with a contested convention to work in our favor? Or can you live with Santorum for four years? The only other option is Romney. I, for one, will not live with that for four years. Much better to deal with Obama for two years and fill the houses with conservatives in 2014. Let him try to rule by fiat and see how far that gets him.

Plus his wife looks like an ice queen and she doesn’t come across as likeable. She needs to mess her hair up a little bit.

As opposed to the artificial looking hair of Newt's wife. She reminds me of a bird sometimes, and we had enough of those with Lady Bird Johnson.

There are a lot of dumb GOP twit voters in Illinois. It amazes me that just because Romney won Illinois (more like just the Chicagoland area), that we need to end the primary and coronate Romney. Illinois is the worst state to allow to decide that.

Just an example of how stupid GOP voters are in Illinois. Voters in the 16th Congressional District had to chose between Freshman GOP Congressman Adam Kinzinger, and 20 year GOP Congressman Don Manzullo. Manzullo has a 95% ACU Conservative Rating, while Kinzinger has a 65% ACU Ratings during his 1st term.

What do the GOP twit voters do? They send Manzullo packing. All they can say is “Kinzinger is the Future; we’re tired of long time DC politicians”. But Manzullo was a reliable conservative for 2 decades. Kinzinger is a pretty boy who rode in on the Tea Party wave and became an establishment Scott Brown Republican from the start. He voted against spending cuts. The GOP will always be a feckless party when feckless voters in blue states keep calling the shots.

F__k Illinois; this State should have 0 say in anything that has to do with the Republican Nomination for Pres.

Relax, he's probably just saying that the Republican party just isn't as severe as he is in their conservatism. /s

Newt has had ample opportunity to run for president since he left the house, so why now, when he is getting long in the tooth? Perry is not all that popular in Texas, and doubt he could win against any Republican tat was vaguely conservative.
