Houston Rep. Al Green flies to Florida to protest the death of Trayvon Martin

Texas Rep. Al Green was one of the thousands that gathered Thursday night at a rally in the hometown of Trayvon Martin protest the lack of action that had been taken on the investigation.

Green, a Democrat from Houston who attended grade school through college in Florida, said the incident has become a national issue.

“I’ve had many, many people stay this happens too often,” Green said. “This does not look right.”

Martin, a 17 year old, had been walking through a gated community in Sanford, Fla. last week. George Zimmerman, a self-appointed neighborhood watchman, shot and killed Martin because he said he felt threatened by him. Martin had been unarmed.

Although it has been nearly a month since Zimmerman shot Martin and has stated that he was the shooter, he has yet to be arrested or charged.

Thousands gathered for the rally, some wearing hoodies with the hood up and holding Skittles and iced tea – imitating what Martin had been wearing and carrying when he was shot. The event, organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton, was also attended by Martin’s parents and Dr. Martin Luther King III – the son of the famous civil rights activist.

“Something has gone wrong in our nation when vigilantes can go around under the pretense of protecting a neighborhood and just kill people,” King said in an interview with the Houston Chronicle. “Any member of congress ought to be concerned about this because it impacts all of our children.”

Go to the post you want pulled, click ‘report abuse’ and they’ll take care of it.
Otherwise, the chance that they’ll see your request in the thread is pretty slim.

Why do we have to suffer all this ginned-up outrage over a man bites dog story? Over 100 whites were raped or killed by blacks the same day.

13% of the population is black. 6-7% are male. Let’s say 10% of the males are incarcerated. The youngsters and elderly don’t do much, so you can subtract at least half to 2-3% of our population, black males, are doing 100 times as many henious crimes as all the other people do to their race COMBINED!!! This is the genocide that cannot be spoken.

While Geraldo blames the tragic death of Trayvon Martin on his mode of dress, I believe there is another element that the MSM will studiously ignore.

Barack Obama has done more to divide this nation along racial lines than anything I can remember. “African Americans for Obama”, “Hispanics for Obama,” “Martians for Obama”, etc., etc... are just part of it. This guy’s efforts to take us the rest of the way to communism have angered many of those who may already harbor latent or outright racist tendencies.

While Obama’s anti-American behavior has little to do with his race, there are unbalanced folks out here who DO read race into that behavior. Once they cross that threshold, their warped minds can justify nearly any act, up to and including the killing of an unarmed black boy walking through his neighborhood. I fear there is more — and worse — to come.

Barack, some of Trayvon Martin’s blood — and the blood of future black and white victims of your racism — is on YOUR hands.

Yes, Al, I completely understand.

In January 2007 4 Black POS carjacked, tortured, brutally gang raped, sexually mutilated, burned and murdered Channon Christian, 21, and Christopher Newsom, 23..... just white people.

Oops I meant to say half to two-thirds of the black males are too old or too young to being out killing.

Who paid for his trip?”

He’ll probably use the same line that Sheila Jackson Lee used when she went to Michael Jackson’s funeral - “I have sources”. Speaking of which, wonder when is Sheila going to make her grand entrance in the melee in Florida.
