...and some of them mean a great deal:
REFUSED to enforce the Mexican Border--in DEFIANCE of his oath to uphold US law!INCREASED illegal immigration!
INCREASED entitlements! ADDING to the financial burdon already staggering the American working man and woman!
INCREASED the size, scope, and appetite of the Frankenstein's Monster known as the Federal Government!
INTENTIONALLY ALIENATED his base support: hard working, law abiding American citizens!
SPENT more of the American Tax Payers' hard earned money than any President since Lyndon Johnson!
SET US UP for what we've got now!
Uh, maybe I should have been clearer. My meaning was that few of his accomplishments mean much in a positive way.
It is very sad (and very bad for the American people) that Bush squandered the opportunity to be an historic President.
When he was elected I prayed that he was a genuine conservative. He fell pretty short of that.He had the opportunity to push this country in a positive direction to a degree that may have rivaled Reagan. He pissed that away. And demonstrated an astounding lack of leadership for the right side of the political spectrum. The only time I recall he threw his weight round with the Republicans in congress was when he tried to ram through amnesty. Some things are deal breakers for me. That was one of them. Unforgivable.
It don't make us popular but you are right on all counts, now just wait for those temporary tax cuts to expire and Ocare to kick in. He and Tokyo Rove are directly responsible for the loss of both houses, that I don't forgive, and neither should anyone else on FR, but they do.
Some of the proposals that Dubya didn’t get were even worse.
Perhaps his worst idea was his 2004 plan to match American job openings with foreign nationals “if the company can’t find an American worker to fill it” (that phrase being a close cousin to Dubya’s “Jobs Americans Won’t Do” excuse for flooding the country with illegal aliens).
There was next to nothing required to buttress a company’s claim that an American couldn’t be found to take the job (something IT engineers are all too familiar with). There was to be no limit on the number of ‘temporary’ foreign workers allowed in under this program.
With foreign nationals willing to take very low wages simply to get a foothold on American soil there would be a tremendous pressure in favor of foreign workers and against hiring Americans. Contemplate what the current job market would be like if that treasonous monstrosity had become law.
