Zimmerman Attorney To Anderson Cooper: Trayvon Martin Broke My Client’s Nose
mediaite ^ | 3/24/2012 | by Frances Martel

Amid the rush of loud outrage and vocal protest from the parents of Trayvon Martin and their supporters the silence of one character in this tragic tale has been deafening: George Zimmerman, the free man who shot Martin and alleges self-defense. His attorney, Craig Sonner, finally spoke out to Anderson Cooper last night, and had few answers but one accusation– his client has a broken nose and a laceration on his skull, and that was “an injury done by Trayvon Martin.”

Sonner noted to Cooper that his client seemed fine save for a “considerable bit of stress” natural to his situation, but admitted that “y conversations have been by telephone.” He did not know where Zimmerman was but assumed he was “still in the area” and hadn’t fled the country. He had surprisingly little to offer Cooper about the facts of the case; asked what Zimmerman had told him about what transpired the night Martin died, he said “he should have made a statement to police at the time, I believe he did,” and said he “did not discuss the details,” and they would be privileged even if he had.

Why are people blaming an innocent CHILD for being shot to death? Wearing a hoodie, walking home from the store at night is irrelevant. A young life was taken for NO ABSOLUTE reason! I am appalled and saddened that he is being blamed ... he is the VICTIM here.

So do you think the Sanford PD is racist?

I need to see the layout of the community again, including all exits. Z might have returned to the only way out after losing TM. If he posted himself there, TM might have felt like he needed to confront Z on his way out. Just speculating. The layout of the place might be critical to understanding where they went, the sightlines, exits, etc.

If Martin is the victim, please post any Florida statute that was violated by Zimmerman, and the evidence released to the public that supports probable cause to conclude Zimmerman violated it.

“Why are people blaming an innocent CHILD for being shot to death? Wearing a hoodie,...”

Looking at the whole episode, the unarmed minor boy appears to have been pursued by an armed white hispanic adult; the self-appointed neighborhood watch vigilante copper wannabee.

Neighborhood watch holds no legal police powers, and police told the pursuer to not pursue.

The teen turned to defend himself against the pursuing armed man, the teen was getting the better of the fight, so the armed pursuer used his firearm.

Hoodies are worn extensively by youth of all races. Hoodies are very polular with “surf culture’ clothing, with sets trends worldwide, as an examply.

Billabong, Hurley, Volcom, and other companies for example. Mid-priced chains like Target and Kohl’s carry lines of these styles.

If I lived in the complex, I’d advise the Homeowner’s Association to scrub any mention of Neighborhood Watch from their minutes.

Having said all that, the race exploitation by all the usual suspects is predictable. That we have a Potus who wants/needs to be a civil rights superstar is sadly what we are stuck with.

I sure don’t want four more years.

Zimmerman followed, but on the tape within a minute or two was winded. He turned around when it was clear the kid was getting away.

An eyewitness saw the fight...but not the start...but the teenager was on top of Zimmerman and wailing on him...beating him. It was Zimmerman calling for help.

He says after he turned arouud, that he was attacked. I believe him. He has been doing this neighborhood watch thing for some time and has never “attacked” anyone.

Fact is, in the end, he was being beaten by this teenager and if he feared for his life...and given his screams for help, it sounded like he did. Those were not, IMHO, faked. So, fearing for his life and understanding no help was coming, he used his weapon.

The investigation needs to go through and produce the hard evidence about what happened...but at the least we already know from Zimmerman’s lawyer that he suffered a broken nose in the pummeling he took. If he actually did defend himself, then IMHO, he should not be tried for any murder.

Yes, but was he making that statement based on what he had heard from the nedia, or from the circumstances that are now coming out about the case.

For example, that apparently Zimmerman had stopped following the teenager (he was clearly winded after just a minute or two) and was returning to his car when he was attacked. An eye witness who saw them fighting puts Trayvon on top of Zimmerman and beating him pretty soundly about the head and face.

We now know that it was Zimmerman who was heard screaming for help onm the 911 tape, when none came, he apparently feared for his life and used his gun.

We shall see what the grand jury does and we shall see what other facts that the MSM is not broadcasting come out.

Williamson is about hearsay evidence. It in no way restricts an accused from testifying in his own defense, and Zimmerman would be quite entitled to tell his story to the jury whether or not it was corroborated.

As a matter of law, that's false.

It's true. You can ask a question but you can't detain people if they don't wish to answer.

-- It's true. You can ask a question but you can't detain people if they don't wish to answer. --

My remark was a response to a different assertion from "you have NO right to detain people if they don;t answer." I even quoted your words, immediately before saying "as a matter of law, that's false." Here is your contention:

-- and have NO right to demand to know if somebody lives there, or ask what their business is. NO right at all. --

I said then, and I hold to it, that those propositions are false, as a matter of law.

You do not have the answers nor the evidence to substantiate your statements....you got nothing but media news and how they choose to spin this.... and we all know it's being pushed by the obama machine.

Further a 17 yr. old is not a pediatric little kid as your trying to present him...again evidencing your likely hood of swallowing the media kool-aid rather than knowing the facts of the investigation... which have not come out.

As for profiling Martin...there were 8 robberies in that neighborhood and all 8 were by blacks. So a black dude scuffling around, not responding to inquiry of why was he there, and then walking up to Zimmerman to check him out only to see him on a cell phone and then jolting would definately raise fair suspicion something wasn't kosher.

Making a comment that "they always get away with it" is pretty dang accurate in this day and age....

Further you're assuming he "exited his vehicle"...when in fact other articles are saying he was attacked by Martin while getting into his SUV. How can you say that didn't happen any more than what you've been reading saying otherwise?

Further you need to investigate further about Zimmermans arrests and see how they played out in the end..you might find that interesting and other than assumptions there as well.

Again you are 'assuming' a great deal and injecting plays into a situation you were not there to see or what the evidence has shown. And frankly I don't for one minute believe Martin's girlfriends story either.

Further.... there was a reason the police did not arrest Zimmerman...the evidence supported his story. And there is a reason why they STILL have not arrested him....could very well be that further investigations continue to support his story.

Until otherwise proven guilty....Zimmerman is not guilty by law...no matter how you or the media want to spin this.

Truth seeker..he wasn’t self-appointed....the Community met about having a neighborhood watch because there had been many robberies in the homes there of recent..... Zimmerman was apparently the only one who volunteered and they had no problem appointing him for that. Especially in light he was in schooling to become a police officer they were compfortable with him doing so. So I wouldn’t say he was simply a “wannabee copper”, he was doing what people do who want that for a voacation by going to school.

When they told him they didn’t want him to follow the guy...he said clealy ok and stopped... and apparent on the recording. The converstion between him and the police continued about directions, where to go after entering the gate...and some confusion on the proper instructions so he told them to call him when they got there...which I have also done so nothing odd about that...and why they were quick to agree with Zimmerman.

As foanything else people are putting together it’s all being taken from the media spins and not to be trusted at all as we all know they will spin this to keep the story going and ratings up .

Is it a coincidence that someone by the same name has been stirring it up on another board, or are you one and the same? Some of us spend a long time in the kitchen seeing who and what are being stirred;

Zimmerman exited his vehicle which was parked on the street ... he did so while on the phone with the police dispatcher ... you can hear the vehicle door open at about two minutes into the call ... he admits to the dispatcher that he's following Martin up the pathway.

Are you implying that Zimmerman turned around and returned to the vehicle ... that Martin followed him back to the vehicle ... and attacked him there, on the street, as Zimmerman was getting into it?

If so, please explain why Martin's body was found in the backyard of the townhouses. How did it get there?

Since it's been reported that Zimmerman was on a personal errand that night and not on neighborhood watch patrol, do you think he was wearing anything (badge, vest, etc.) indentifying him as being a watchman?

It’s been stated 6 witnesses claim Zimmerman was about to get into his truck after Martin ran out of sight when Martin jumped him from behind and started to beat Zimmerman in the face and head.

Zimmerman claims he had lost sight of Martin (which is supported by the call to dispatch and by Martin telling his girlfriend that he had lost Zimmerman), and that he was on his way back to his truck (presumably to meet police where he told them he’d meet them). THE BURDEN OF PROOF IS NOT ON ZIMMERMAN. If you don’t believe him fine, but offer proof to back up your contention that his story is false.
