Amid the rush of loud outrage and vocal protest from the parents of Trayvon Martin and their supporters the silence of one character in this tragic tale has been deafening: George Zimmerman, the free man who shot Martin and alleges self-defense. His attorney, Craig Sonner, finally spoke out to Anderson Cooper last night, and had few answers but one accusation– his client has a broken nose and a laceration on his skull, and that was “an injury done by Trayvon Martin.”
Sonner noted to Cooper that his client seemed fine save for a “considerable bit of stress” natural to his situation, but admitted that “y conversations have been by telephone.” He did not know where Zimmerman was but assumed he was “still in the area” and hadn’t fled the country. He had surprisingly little to offer Cooper about the facts of the case; asked what Zimmerman had told him about what transpired the night Martin died, he said “he should have made a statement to police at the time, I believe he did,” and said he “did not discuss the details,” and they would be privileged even if he had.

Despite the best efforts of the race agitators like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Louis Farrakhan to cause violent and destructive race riots resulting in millions of dollars of damage, violent assaults and robberies, and even murder, I suspect that America has changed a bit since the Rodney King riots.
Oh, I have no doubt that there are tens of thousands of hate-filled criminal “youths”, more than willing to riot, engage in mass “wildings” and mob robberies in a rampage of terror against innocent people.
And I also have no doubt that Justice Department is now so corrupt and partisan that it would be more than willing to see cities burned by their favored criminals, without so much as lifting a finger to enforce the law or prosecute those responsible.
However, I also know a truism about American history. This is that when the government refuses, by corruption, incompetence, or complicity, to protect the public from criminals, the public will take it upon themselves to do so.
I know this, because it has happened before. And though its good name is disparaged by the government, it still resounds when needed. “Vigilantism”.
Vigilantism almost never begins as a violent movement, and it almost never fights offensively, for it is a form of defense. And 90% of the time, government changes in one way or another to return to its job of protecting the citizenry, so vigilantism loses its purpose and discontinues.
But on those rare occasions when government is adamant in its corruption, actively supporting criminals against the people, vigilantism rises to the occasion. It is the last, and very potent, line of defense against anarchy and chaos.
A little mentioned fact about the Rodney King riots was that on the first night of riots, the predominantly black rioters chose to attack the Korean community, causing much damage and looting stores, while attacking any Korean they saw.
This is little mentioned because that, while the rioters were able to do this once, by the following evening, the Korean community was heavily armed and more than willing to defend itself. Had the rioters returned, they would have experienced dozens or hundreds of casualties and killed.
Vigilantism, pure and simple. And effective.
Back to the here and now, once again, the racists are trying terribly hard to incite riots, and even the administration is hoping that this will “energize their base”, in some bizarre way, so that they can retain political power.
But this time, the public should have fair warning. And the laws across the country, about gun ownership and use, have changed considerably. And the public has responded by arming themselves to the teeth.
It is to our sadness that the US president would encourage riots and chaos in our nation to further his political ambitions, but appearances are that he has chosen to do so. Yet we do not have to passively accept the destruction, deprivation and despair he chooses as our future.
Individually, and as a group, we should stand united in the face of violence and crime, because its perpetrators and advocates are weak and cowardly, and will scatter if faced down by those who will defend the innocent. In most cases, our local and state governments will stand with us, with only part of the federal government acting the villain.
So the honest citizenry are in good company, and will almost certainly win.

where were you when all 80 or so of the Duke professors hit the airwaves in condemnation of the players?
i don’t ask where were you when the apologies were issued....because there were none. not from the Duke professors, not from the media, not from the prosecutors, not from the perpetrators of the hoax.
so where does this leave us? a lot of the people in this country think those accused were guilty and somehow they used their privileged race and social status to squash the case.
Zimmerman will always be guilty of murder of an innocent child....gunned down while walking down the street with a bag of skittles....the AP has made sure of that.

i went to a focus group at a college about 7 months or so after the Simi Valley civil case against OJ. there were about equal numbers of black and non-black citizens there. we all came by volunteering. we were all concerned about the differences and we all wanted to try to understand the other point of view. it was interesting, and discouraging.
each of us across the racial divide could not understand how our counter parts could possibly not get it. Black people were very upset that we whites could not understand how the system is used to suppress Black people. they could not understand how we could be so supportive of the prosecutors and police. how could we be so blind to the obvious truth that OJ was innocent. not just in the legal sense of not guilty, but actually had nothing to do with the murders. how could we not understand that the police had planted that evidence? how could we be so.....and the words escape me....stupid? racist? something.....
there is no way to bridge this gap that i can see.
i do not like government. i am suspicious of what they do and how they do it. so we share that. why do i not understand that the government, the establishment, the elites etc have their own prejudices that suppress minorities and persecute them?
answer....because i am white. i cannot possibly understand. because it is not happening to me, and, it never did.
If the media makes much of an effort to report it. More interesting to me is how the media gets away with fanning the fires - that is, the public reaction is more interesting to me, than is the small number of people who will be involved in looking at the reliable evidence.
The underlined wording is factually incorrect, as evidenced by the public statement of the Sanford city manager.

Zimmerman’s statement was that he had lost sight of Trayvon and was returning to his truck to meet the police officer when he says he was attacked by Trayvon.

He has no police powers it is true...but I do not think it is illegal for him to ask a person what he is up to. Anymore than it was illegal for Trevon to be there...unless it was marked private property and no tresspassing.
At any rate, as far as I am concerned, you are right. The case will be decided based on what happened at the point of physical altercation.
Apparently the person heard crying for help was Zimmerman. Trevon was quite a bit larger and stronger than Zimmerman and was being beaten at that point. If he was in fear of his life at that point, then the stand your ground law comes into effect.
What will matter will be how the grand jury (1st) and then perhaps later a jury will interpret what happened and whose fault it was.
With crime going on in the area, confronting a stranger in the community may not be viwed as a bad thing (I wouldn’t if it were my community and I was a part owner). If they view following the young man as wrong, then they may hold Zimmerman responsible and trump the stand your ground...though I do not think that what either of them did was illegal until the punches started flying.
That being the case...and if this is what happened (we still do not know), then my opinon falls with Zimmerman.
At that point he had given up the chase and was returning back to meet the police who were supposed to be coming and he was attacked, maybe blind sided. That decision to attack, to initiate force, was Trevon’s decision...and self defense is allowed when being attacked physcally.
Anyhow, we’ll see how it plays out. What really get s me mad is the way the left and the President are politicizing it, and the way the MSM is convicting Zimmerman based on hearsay and incomplete facts...and the calls by the Black Panthers and Nation of Ilsam for violence in the streets and “wanted Dead or Alive” put out by them on Zimmerman.

Zimmerman had every right to ask Trayvon anything he wanted. Trayvon had no obligation to answer. He could have just told Zimmerman to mind his own business or just ignored him altogether.
Trayvon had no right to physically assault Zimmerman as reported by an eyewitness.

Well, if the stand your ground flew out when he retreated, then pure self-defense comes into play.
Either way, the decision to initiate force was apparently the kids decision...and it was a bad one. If he had simply confronted Zimmerman and explained that he lived there and was walking to a game...I bet nothing would have happened.
This story is another example of how the radical left manipulates the news and the lame stream media goes along. From what I read of the Sanford PD report on this there was not enough evidence to arrest Zimmerman, a grand jury was scheduled to look into the matter and then the media and race baiters like Sharpton and Jackson moved in screaming...why was there no arrest.
I first thought it was an attempt to overturn the castle doctrine law, but now I am beginning to think that they want open race war which will allow Obama to use his EO to declare martial law and the 2012 election will be put on hold as a matter of national security.

I hear what you saying but on the face of it, a self appointed armed policeman without the requisite training nor the desire to listen to supervision, making rounds and pursuing “suspects” is not advisable behavior.
The odd thing about the case is that no one mentions that Zimmerman is a Latino, because it defeats the propaganda value.
It must have been a ‘live’ comment. No way Anderson Cooper would ever gets off the liberal elite propaganda message.

He was doing his job and acted accordingly as most would in his place. IMO this isn't anything more than an Obamamachine driven, media pimped, political "campaign" against the American people as a whole.

If so, as a matter of law, Zimmerman needs only show that he apprehended serious injury (and taking a beating EASILY meets that threshold) in order to be justified.
But, as a matter of public opinion, he's screwed, and ought to be thinking about suing the media.
