Gingrich sticks to script despite tough odds in Saturday’s Louisiana primary

NEW ORLEANS--It was less a campaign speech and more a general studies lecture.

Standing against the backdrop of a chalkboard and two massive charts featuring the periodic table, Newt Gingrich spent his final campaign event ahead of Saturday's Louisiana primary addressing a classroom full of Tulane University students.

For nearly 45 minutes, the former House speaker talked at length about an array of somewhat unexpected subjects, including the Wright Brothers feud with the Smithsonian over the birth of modern aviation—an analogy he made to highlight private enterprise versus over-the-top government spending. He described himself as a "dreamer" and defended his efforts to champion future space exploration.

--snip--

It was not until the end of his remarks that Gingrich made his first and only mention of Louisiana's primary. "The point of my campaign is that big ideas matter. Talking about things is worth it," the ex-speaker declared. "I need your help tomorrow."(continued)

Thank you, onyx. He wore his Newt button -under his jacket.
:o) ( on to convention)

Newt was right all along-get delegates for an open convention to have a chance to say that we do not want Mitt going up against Obama.

Oh yes. Mom is definitely voting for Newt in Pennsylvania. It was a very good idea to stay away from the computer this week. Good thinking. What a smart woman you are. I wish you a wonderful Sunday. Luv ya,
Bob

Got a couple of *begging for Santorum* calls yesterday, you would have been proud and probably blushing at my part of the conversation, LOL.

Worrying about the low turnout, don't like the apathy and disinterest because, damn it, the people down here are really conservative.
They are just not being fired up.

Sorry ... Newt's "not" your Etch-a-Sketch boy ...

Newt Gingrich's plan is to watch Santorum continue to implode ... and dittos for Romney ...

Just like George Washington waiting (patiently) for Cornwallis at Yorktown ...

That was called “constructive criticism”. I did not attack Newt in any way in that comment. I was merely pointing out that he is not doing so well, even in the south, and he needs to energize conservatives and the GOP base if he wants a shot.

I am anti-Romney, while I think Newt has too much baggage, he has had a chance to change my mind.

The same old stump speeches about giving federal jobs to schoolkids to mop floors on a future moonbase while we cut government spending isn’t going to do that.

Your so easy to get under your skin. I think it is great that Santorum won his 10th state. He is doing incredibly well. It seems that Newt will never get out of the 3rd or 4th place finishes. Poor guy.....lol.
