Coming off a decisive victory in Saturday night's Louisiana primary, Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is blasting Mitt Romney's campaign as "desperate" and lacking in message - and one that will be unable to effectively go head-to-head with President Obama come November.
Santorum, in an interview with CBS' "Face the Nation," contended on Sunday that Republican voters want to elect a nominee who has "their principles written on their heart - not on an erasable tablet."

Someone needs to tell Lil Ricky that it is better to be humble than arrogant. His senate record is going to speak for itself IF he faces obama. I wonder if Arlen will endorse him?
Romney appears to be the least liked republican front runner in the South since Abe Lincoln.
Give it a rest.
Trust me, its not just the south.
They had to change the rules in Michigan after the vote just to give Romney a two delegate edge. He should have won Michigan by double digits and couldn’t even pull that off.
Mardi, if Santorum ran as a fake Milquetoast guy as you suggest, he’d have lost by 23 points to Milt instead of having kicked his ass by 23. We NEED tough talk in these dire times. BTW, in the REAL sense of the word, Rick IS humble, before God. Bob
Romneybot begone!
Don’t look now, but Rick is surging. This could become VERY interesting, even if the liberal Romney’s Big $$$ ultimately prevails. I think that if Mi, Oh and even Il had a re-vote, Rick may well have won. Bob
Romney is weak in the heartland of America from the Dakotas through Iowa, Kansas (21 percent in the caucuses), Missouri, Oklahoma (28 percent), the South etc.
Romney barely won Ohio and Michigan with well under 50 percent of the vote and only reached 48 percent in Illinois with Santorum winning downstate.
Romney runs best (over 50 percent) in liberal urban areas and in suburban areas (over 40 percent) close to liberal cities.
Romney only wins in states he will lose in November, and I am guessing he will pick a fellow RINO like Christie who wont be able to carry his state. In fact a Romney ticket might be the first in history where neither the presidential or vice presidential picks win their home states.
But on the plus side Utah is a lock.
Thanks for posting. It was interesting to read how CBS spun Santorum’s interview after just having watched it on TV a few minutes ago. I was able to actually watch Face The Nation without switching channels as Norah O’Donnell was guesthosting for the unwatchable Bob Scheiffer.
The story did not mention how Santorum handled the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman question. I do believe that will come back to haunt Santorum.
Paul Ryan did extremely well in the following interview, IMHO. Ryan did not seem to be bothered at all by being blasted by Trump for daring, politically, to put forth a plan everybody can take potshots at prior to the elections.
Romney runs best (over 50 percent) in liberal urban areas and in suburban areas (over 40 percent) close to liberal cities.
One must ask ones self.. With a candidate that runs well in those areas. Will the people in those areas be the ones to carry the state for Romney, or will they perhaps go vote for Obama?
We can not win the general by picking up the middle left in urban areas.
Some say the south and conservatives will vote for Romney regardless.
I am not so sure. I am one that could vote for Rick or Newt. I’ll write in if it’s Romney.
The Romney campaign is having major-league financial problems and he’s having to make a pilgrimage to San Francisco to beg for more money next week.

I agree. Who will ever forget the Santorum holding a toy in his hand. He is, in my opinion a good man but unstable.
He doesn't know when to give up. He seems obsessed with the small victory he has had.
We need Newt.
I will support Romney.
“Decisive”, meaning this singular event has turned the election around from here on out.......There is “desperation” alright, and it's not coming from Romney.
There is much anger, blame and disappointment still to come for the Santorumites. It has been merely prolonged by the Pollyannish obsession that Santorm can still win. And they are not helping themselves by exaggerating their potential or embellishing their candidate to such a degree.
I do not discourage it however, because it very well may force a brokered convention. Which still leaves a slot for Newt to get into.
All of this still emains to be seen. Obama hasn’t even started his flaming of romney and Santorum yet. Time will tell just how strong Santorum is when obama starts his attacks. I will be watching.
agree
I am sure that he is still clueless, that they have him eating out of their hand. But the MSM certainly marvels at how successful they have been up to now, in that regard.
What ever, babble on Rick, you won't listen to sound advice regardless.
I would vote for Newt today and Romney is my 2nd choice. I did like Santorum but he has really changed my opinion of him...I don’t like him and liked him a lot in the past.
Newt differentiates conservative issues from liberal ones while looking like a grown up. Rick doesn't seem to be able to do that.
I don't think so. Santorum's gaffes have a shorter shelf life than an open can of soda. I thought "take one for the team" would haunt him. Didn't happen. Then I figured for sure that saying Romney and Obama are interchangeable would sink him. Nope. I'm beginning to think this fellow could stand up and sing the Soviet anthem in Arabic and it wouldn't matter.
Newt in the meantime gives amazing policy speeches and has the White House responding to him. But it doesn't transfer to actual votes. Go figure.
NOT ROMNEY IS MY POSITION AND ALL THE DELEGATES THAT NEWT OR SANTORUM OR EVEN PAUL GET PREVENT HIM FROM WINNING THE NOMINATION.
ROMNEY MUST FALL SHORT OF THE NUMBER OF DELEGATES FOR NOMINATION.
IF ONE OF THE THREE WANTS TO SELL OUT AND GIVE ROMNEY THE NOMINATION, SO BE IT, BUT WE’LL KNOW THEIR TRUE COLORS IF THEY DO IT.
If this debacle moves to a brokered and they throw Jeb into the mix there will be much blame thrown at Santorum and Romney. I do not like Jeb Bush.....period.
I have read the records of both Santorum and Romney and nwither appealed to me. I still hold out hope for Newt or Sarah if we are lucky..
The political reality of today is, one does not win elections by insulting the people voting for you, or especially by alienating the majority and limiting your self to a fanatical, singular fringe.
If it goes to a brokered convention, it will be someone like Ryan, Palin or Newt, who appeals to all sides. That possibility is every bit as realistic as any.
It could also be forced into a broken nomination, where a 3rd Party can emerge and be competitive.
Give me a break!!!
Mitt Romney did not unleash gay marriage on America.
You make the claim, then support it with facts, not political hearsay.
Do your own research, liberal. You’ll learn more that way.
Well, I am 77—have been a christian conservative all my adult life.
I have never been called a liberal till now.
Again, you need facts.
Surely they wouldn’t put another Bush in! But never say never.
So your defending Romney here. Swell.

FReepmail Antoninus to be added or removed.
Why? To hit up those folks for whom he will be “better than Teddy Kennedy”? Bob
And you need the man parts to face the fact that your boy Mitt is as much a liberal as Hillary Clinton.
I have NEVER defended Romney on any issue. My post meant Santorum needs to be humble, not arrogant like Romney.
It is now mostly Santorum’s inflated ego and stubbornness that is keeping him in. If nothing else, he plans on living comfortable from here on out, just on his 15 minutes of fame. As far as his political future, he will be pretty much done after this election is over. Nobody will offer him a VP or cabinet spot, like some think.
Surely they wouldnt put another Bush in! But never say never.

I am tired of the Kennedy and Bush families. Heck, I’m tired of all the career politicians. They NEVER go away!
God bless you, Sir. Now I DO think that you’ve been swayed by someone who has Etch-a-Sketched himself into a conservative for the time being. But, what exactly did MR mean when he said that he’d be “better on gay issues than Ted Kennedy”? Which Etch-a-Sketch is the real portrait? Or IS there a real Romney with core principles not for sale? Read massresistance.com for more info on the LIBERAL Gov. Mitt Romney. Please answer me why, e.g, he nominated only 9 Republicans in 4 years to the Ma. courts out of 36 choices. Cordially, Bob
So tell me where Rick is off base here. Everything he said is true. Milt is running a slash and burn campaign and doesn’t have a message. His own campaign staff telegraphed this week that they are very fluid on their Conservatism. I applaud Rick for making this an issue to voters. Milt can’t be trusted any farther than you can throw him.
Why is Romney running, anyway? His cult membership and his RINO ways will cause millions to either write-in their favorite or for Rick or Newt to surge at the Convention. Romney has no chance. Who the heck is going to vote for him besises RINOs?
Santorum needs to stick to attacking obama on the issues and forget about the moron romney. Romney is not going to stop his dirty campaign no matter what Santorum says , so it’s better to ignore his lunacy and move along on the issues.
By remarking on Romney it shows romneys slash and burn has his attention. He needs to move to attacking obama repeatedly on all issues. The time to drop the hammer has long past. I still support Newt, so whatever happens...happens.
Listening to him in the debates, there's little humble about failed senator "I, I, I, me, me, me."
“Romney only wins in states he will lose in November, and I am guessing he will pick a fellow RINO like Christie who wont be able to carry his state.”
He’ll pick a ‘conservative’ as the press and the GOP nemenklatura defines one, who is malleable and no threat. Something on the order of Dan Quayle, but less likeable and and at the end of the day amoral, or as the Gergen-Rove types would say ‘pragmatic’.
“I will support Romney. “
I’ll crawl over broken glass to stop Bishop Willard.
Great image. Captures Bishop Willard’s Ted Bundy style of charm perfectly.
