As Dick Cheney recovers from heart transplant surgery, questions are being raised about whether the former vice president is too old for a new heart.
Cheney, 71, who received the new heart Saturday at a hospital in Falls Church, Va., has been on the cardiac transplant list for more than 20 months.
Some medical centers will not perform a heart transplant on patient over 65, but other major centers will perform transplants on patients who are as old as 72.

Here we go with the windup to full-blown Obamacare ..... who makes life/death decisions like this? It should be between the patient & doctor. Cheney is not ready to give up on life yet & his doc thinks he is an acceptable risk for a heart transplant. Nobody else’s business .... until Obamacare kicks in. Then, Cheney would not only be ‘too old’, he’d be ‘too conservative’.
Garbage. The hospitals are very carefully vetted by the national donor program. There are numerous criteria followed, not just age, if the donor program approved him for a transplant, then it was legitimate.

Just estimate where age 71 falls on the x axis, and slide your finger up to the "odds of receiving a medical intervention" point on this Complete Lives Model curve, and you'll get a clue....hmm, he's sure one lucky fellow! Oh the indignation and pompous sputterings of the left are to be expected, but you can be the rent that if it had been the Buffoon from Georgia Jimmy Carter who had received a heart transplant, they would be singing the praises of everyone from the selection process, to the surgeons, to the hospital, to the nursing team, all the way down to the janitorial staff for ‘saving’ Carter’s life.
