Good evening, mountainlion...gallant men for sure. We owe them so much.

Got little done, unfortunately - Friday night was so warm I couldn't get to sleep until about 4:00 am. Slept until about 11. Felt like yesterday's garbage the entire day. Last night little better - the heat was gone but I just couldn't sleep. Got up at about 11 again - didn't get to church until 5:00 pm.

Today was Daniel's 21st birthday - I made the cake this afternoon and made an Irish Soda Bread to boot. The cake was not bad at all. The soda bread came out great. It was the first chance I had to use the Kitchen-Aid mixer Mrs. MacNessa got me for Christmas. What a machine! Every other mixer I've ever had suffers greatly in comparison. I'm taking Soda Bread in to the Office tomorrow for my colleagues. It will be interesting to see what all those young gourmets think of my production.

I did get to talk to my daughter - she is doing quite well - only complaint is the heat - it hits the high 80's there every day.

Question: It’s my understanding that during WW II, one or two classes were commissioned after three years at West Point. Are those, like Capt. Daly, who left WP after a year or two in order to enlist, considered graduates of West Point?

Some sun? Sunny all day here....more ice chipping. If the days stay sunny, eventually I will conquer the driveway. In some places it is multiple inches thick, in others, less as the sun on top and the water underneath does its job.

No visitors on a rainy weekend but long chats with family and a friend back in the mainland....so long that my phone battery just died. We'd discussed everything from politics to family relations to the weather and still had more to go. Sheesh.....glad that battery caved before I did.

Look on the bright side; how much gas you're saving by slip sliding out your drive on the way to work!

LOL! I can’t get out of my neighborhood without 4 wheel drive it’s so icy. Once I’ve turned the last corner I’m fine, altho I didn’t venture out this weekend. We will see how things are in the morning.

Spring seems like it is trying to come. The days have been above freezing for going on 2 weeks, and the weather lady just said it will get up to the mid 40s later this week. More melting. Now we just need the nights to stay above freezing.
