Trayvon Martin Shooter 'Couldn't Stop Crying' After Shooting

After fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, Florida community watch captain George Zimmerman "couldn't stop crying,'' according to a family friend who spoke with him Saturday.

"After this started – the reports I got – [Zimmerman] "couldn't stop crying,'' Joe Oliver told "Good Morning America" on Sunday.

Oliver, who said he is a close friend of the family, said Zimmerman has gone into hiding, fears for his life, and is "just now becoming aware of how big this has gotten."

Oliver, who has known Zimmerman for six years, said he has been in regular contact with members of Zimmerman's family, who have briefed him on Zimmerman's day-to-day reactions as the case has grown into a national referendum on race, gun laws and criminal justice.

On Saturday, the militant New Black Panther Party offered a $10,000 bounty for Zimmerman's "capture."

--snip--

"I think when the other 911 tapes are released, and the other evidence comes out, I think it will show clearly that George Zimmerman was acting in self defense,'' Oliver said. "The question is: how far did he pursue? Who made the initial contact? What started the confrontation in the first place? The fact that the investigation so far has come out the way it has – because of Sanford's history – I find it hard to believe that the Sanford Police Department wouldn't have George in jail now if they had one…piece [of evidence] to support that fact. George Zimmerman is not in jail because…they don't have the evidence to arrest him."(continued)

he is the only one with priors.

Martin's school records have been ordered sealed by the family's attorney.

Are you certain Martin doesn't have priors with the police? We already know that the media has been negligent in the accurate reporting of this event so it's within reason to also believe that no one in the media has even attempted to obtain any record of any priors.....

Do you think it's reasonable to expect that the police dept. has photos of Zimmerman's face portraying his broken nose following the attack on him? Of course they do, so why hasn't the media obtained copies of THEM and published them?

Myself and a number of other members here are supporting Mr. Zimmerman against the pitchfork mob because in this country a person is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, not guilty in the court of public opinion.

We're also supporting him because as each day goes by, another little piece of evidence is released by the media that supports Mr. Zimmerman's case. Not the opposite......

Now, the questions YOU should be asking is why Martin's family refuses to discuss the reason why he was on suspension from school. (aka, part of any PRIORS) Then another question you should ask is why the media hasn't obtained from Martin's parents a CURRENT photo of their young man to replace the photo of a 12 year old kid.

The MSM can not allow this to turn into a black vs hispanic issue. Zimmerman could be purple with red stripes and orange pokadots and he would be called white for propaganda needs.

a black vs hispanic divides obama’s and the democrat party at large support.

I couldn’t agree more with everything you said.

It is hard to be the parents of boys anyway. Just the fact that they are male, makes everyone assume they are rapists, abusive boyfriends; theives. Throw in a black face, and I guess it makes a difference. I wouldn’t have believed it, until I have seen the reaction right here.

The killing may not have had anything to do with race, but man, the reactions sure do...and not just from the Al Sharpton types...

apparently the MSM has not even demanded those pictures.

understandable, if they show bloody bashed up pictures it destroys the “racist” meme.

Just how did Zimmerman put Martin in danger? He wasn’t a police officer which is why he CALLED the police. He was told not to follow and he said “ok” and there is no evidence that he continued to follow. Period.

"I am beyond disgusted at trying to paint a dead teenager, who had done nothing wrong, but walk home from a store with skittles and a pop; as some sort of hoodlum!

Attempted assault on a bus driver according to his own brother, drug possession leading to 10 day school suspension according to his own parents, and now an assault on someone who fortunately was armed and able to defend himself. Not sure what your definition of a hoodlum is if that doesn't make it.

So what if he was 6 foot 3?

So what if they doctored his photos or intentionally used older ones or lied about his weight being only 140. This was not a small child being attacked by a racist white guy. This was a football player with a history of violence and drug use committing an assault.

"He is black, six foot and wore a hoodie...defended himself when some balding man starts chasing him at night"

The victim of the assault, the witness, and the evidence support that the man was walking back to his vehicle when attacked by the teen.

...how does that translate into the right for someone to kill him?

When you are attacked, nose broken, and head repeatedly slammed into the ground and are armed...that is how.

"He liked to tinker,

With drugs according to his school.

"and he was good with his hands."

Except when he did not connect his punch with the bus driver. He apparently did better with Mr. Zimmermans face.

"He wasn’t 19."

Agreed. He only claimed he was 19 on his myspace page.

"I guess if the rock thrower had had a gun, you all would think he had the right to shoot my kid dead...No, cuz my kid is white...makes a difference doesn’t it?"

Zimmerman is as much white as president Obama is. This has nothing to do with race no matter how you and Jesse/Farakhan/and Sharpton try. Watch the CNN interview with Zimmerman's black friend or read the interviews with Zimmerman's black neighbors. This had nothing to do with race.

"This is making me sick."

I bet you feel just like the prosecutor in Bonfire of the Vanities. Kinda sucks when the facts are not quite what you thought they were.

Then how did Trayvon get to Zimmerman if he wasn’t following him. These “neighborhood watch” busy bodies are not cops. They should not be walking around armed. There is still a full trial to be had, but declaring one completely innocent or guilty at this point is willfully playing into the hands of the media. There is no side to take.

He got caught with an empty baggie of pot.

Still don’t think that is reason to shoot a barely 17 year old kid, who was being stalked by a 28 year old bald man, who deserved a beating for following the kid when he had done nothing wrong. The kid did not deserve to be shot for defending himself against who he surely thought was a pervert.

Zimmerman is ashamed because he thought of himself as a hero....a tough guy; and here a 140 pound kid had him on the ground giving him a beating. The guy couldn’t even win a fight with a skinny teenager and so he shot and killed him. Then he cried like the whimp he is.

If Zimmerman were any kind of real man, he would stand up to a microphone and apologise for killing an unarmed skinny teenager.

“Trayvon was 6-foot-3, 140 pounds, a former Optimist League football player with a narrow frame and a voracious appetite. He wanted to fly or fix planes, struggled in chemistry, loved sports video games and went to New York for the first time two summers ago, seeing the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and a Broadway musical, The Addams Family. He hoped to attend the University of Miami or Florida A&M University, enamored by both schools’ bright orange and green hues.

Also known as “Slimm”, he had a girlfriend and spent endless hours talking or texting on his cell phone. Other times he was quiet, listening to the soundtrack of R&B, reggae, rap and gospel music flowing through his ear buds or watching half-hour re-runs of Martin, his favorite show.

Trayvon’s parents — his mother is a Miami-Dade government employee and his dad is a truck driver — divorced in 1999 but lived near each other in Miami Gardens, working hard to raise Trayvon with family values and lift him above the statistics. They tried to make sure he was exposed to experiences beyond South Florida: skiing, snowboarding and riding snowmobiles. Mother and son went horseback riding for her birthday, 13 days after his.

“Tray was a beautiful child. He was raised to have manners and be respectful. He was a teenager who still had a lot of kid in him,” his father, Tracy Martin, 45, said. “He still loved to go to Chuck E. Cheese with his cousins and would bake them chocolate chip cookies when he was babysitting them.”

Everyone is making assumptions about the kid who is dead; but what is this dude doing stalking around in the dark alone? I heard he was a “self appointed” neighborhood watch leader. I thought neighborhood watch guys worked in pairs, because it is less dangerous? Where was Zimmerman’s partner?

Well not completely "self appointed". But, as always, how he gets described depends on whether the describee is questioning the motives of Zimmerman or Martin. The truth lies somewhere between "one man vigilante death squad" and "concerned patriotic citizen only trying to held the community".

As near as I can determine the Twin Lakes Retreat View Community was concerned about crime and did decide to form a neighborhood watch group. George Zimmerman was the only volunteer. And the "group" is not affiliated with any larger Neighborhood Watch Association.

And likewise, how Trayvon gets described depends on whether the describee is questioning the motives of Zimmerman or Martin.

What is telling, is that most question the “motives” of the teenage victim in this case.
