(CBS/AP) SANFORD, Fla. - Prior to a march and rally to be held marking one month since a Florida teenager was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer, the parents of Trayvon Martin defended their son and decried reports that offered contrary accounts of the confrontation.
Speaking after a community forum held at a Baptist church in Eatonville, the parents were emotional in the wake of a news report published in the Orlando Sentinel that said George Zimmerman had been attacked by the 17-year-old, and an Associated Press report that Trayvon had been suspended from school because of an empty plastic baggie found in his book bag which tested positive for traces of marijuana.
"Even in death, they are still disrespecting my son," said Tracy Martin, "and I feel that is a shame."
"They've killed my son, and now they're trying to kill his reputation," said Trayvon's mother, Sybrina Fulton.

He was told to cease and desist.
At which time he was returning to his truck or had already reached his truck.
Interesting two things as of yet unconfirmed.
1) Trayvon Martin had a 10-day suspension, not for an empty marijuana baggie, but for assaulting a school bus driver. This is based on a Twitter message sent to him by his brother.
2) A Witness said Zimmerman had disengaged from Martin, and was standing next to his vehicle, when Martin came back, approaching Zimmerman from behind, and yelled at him (possibly):
“Were you following me?”
to which Zimmerman answered “yes.”
Then Martin, without further adieu, punched Zimmerman in the face, knocking him to the ground, climbed onto him, grabbing his head or hair in some way, and smashing the back of Zimmerman’s head against the concrete or asphalt, while yelling:
“Tonight you are going to die!”, or similar, while Zimmerman screamed for help.
At some point, Zimmerman’s shirt came up, exposing his gun, and Martin and Zimmerman then both tried to grab it. Zimmerman got it and fired once at very close range into the abdomen of Martin, still atop him. Martin fell off or was pushed, and Zimmerman stood up.
Once again the old and beaten “race card” is being played again.
Dear Tracy,
I am so sorry that you had to bury your son. It is so wrong for a child to preceed his parents in death.
I understand why you are angry, it is one of the stages of grief.
However, there is no “they” when it comes to your son’s death. One man shot him, in circumstances neither you nor I fully understand.
I understand you want your son to be remembered in a certain way. We all want to be remembered in the best possible light. But if you allow and participate in the scripting of a narrative, based on supposition alone, then you have to expect that there will be those who question and investigate your presentaion of “facts.”
If you want to protect your son’s reputation, demand the Black Panthers resind the bouty they placed on a fellow citizen, demand that those selling tee-shirts with racial slurs in alleged support of your son, cease and desist. Do not allow your son to co-opted into a political game of violence and hate.
If you stand to protect your son’s reputation in this manner, you will have my full, vocal support.
Well, that’s an easy one to fix for the folks of TM.
Just authorize the release of his school records to show what a good kid he was.

Probably because the Miami Dade criminal justice system is already over burdened with serious crimes that a baggie with traces of pot in it would not be worth their time.

Tell the witch to look in the mirror and ask who raised this little “angel”. And then ask her why she is applying for trademarks. It sounds like whe is cashing in on her little “darling”.

It may not be a crime to follow someone, but you start following me and I am going to prepare to defend myself, especially if I have not done anything wrong.
Do you mean you would defend against a person walking behind just observing you when there is no law against it? Why? It appears from the reports coming out now that Martin was the first attacker.

I agree, but if the person following you stops the pursuit, as evidence SUGGESTS G. Zimmerman did, and you then physically attack the pursuer, YOU, SIR, are now the aggressor and self defense reverts to the pursuer. In this case, G Zimmerman.
Let the facts come out, whether good, bad or ugly, then make your opinion known.
Yeah, God forbid that the truth come out!! It may alter Trayvon's "squeaky clean" reputation and make him look like the thug that he was!
